I don't mean to be rude, but what concerts did you watch? Because that was not at all the same way they played it back then. Lars was insanely fast back then, Jason was brutal and James was just relentless.
He gets a sick metal tone out of a fully hollow body guitar with single coil pickups.
P90s are Great pickups

Well, Metallica tone is fairly simple (basically highs and lows notched and with no mid) albeit I agree getting that super scooped mid sound out of a semi-hollow is probably difficult with just an amp. Almost 100% guarantee they’re using an EQ to scoop the excess mids out, and most likely using a boost before the amp (tube screamer or something similar) to beef up those single coils.

Tone has absolutely nothing to do with the guitar at the high gain that metal uses. It is singularly the speakers in the cabinets that matter. This has been proven with testing.

I've had the chance to see the band during The Offspring first part on september 2011 and it was too short first part but so much pleasure to assist to the show and the sound was very good. I still remember it as it was yesterday. Thank you very much for all your musics.

This is so freakin good, except for how short it is. The only other recent coverband of this quality that I can think of was a one-off Nirvana tribute concert back during covid by Post Malone and some friends including Travis Barker. Epic.
