Cory still on Devils payroll lol never ending buyout
Lindy had a good run but it's time. We all know he got hosed in '99 with Brett Hull's skate being in the crease. His Sabres teams in '06 and '07 adapted to the post-lockout NHL better than maybe any team in the league and with some better luck either of those teams could have at least reached the Final. His tenures in Dallas and New Jersey were just ok.
Everyone is trying to find the next early 2010s John Cooper. Good luck.
We squandered Cory's best seasons in NJ with terrible rosters (thanks Cory I'll always love you) and Fitz is doing the same to the forward core by not acquiring a goaltender to help them out

To those saying Lindy was a scapegoat, let's go over his decision making:
Timo Meier on his off-wing. Holtz on the 4th line. Overworking Daws with Schmid on the bench. Hughes not playing center. Team never prepared and giving up the first goal in nearly every game.

Goaltending and defensive play has been awful in New Jersey. If they can't get some goaltending, they ain't going to get better. Look at the difference between last year and this... it is Goals Against.

Injuries, bad goaltending and other players playing like garbage was the problem this season. Lindy Ruff was a scapegoat here.

To be fair they weren’t playing defense and they are historically bad at starting on time. He lost the team and deserved to be fired separate from those things
Yeah no, Ruff went a long time between coaching jobs for a LONG time for a reason. He doesn't handle high skilled players and relies way too heavily on his goalie bailing them out.

Lindy ruff is an absolute legend. The disrespect they’ve put on him is insane. The devils team was built to lose. You have 0 goaltending 0 defense and wanna fire your coach? Not gonna do shit. You can’t win games with half a roster. Look at the rangers. They’re winning but their number one center is non existent. They don’t have any right wings besides Lafreniere they have half a defense….They won’t do anything in the playoffs. Idk point being ruff is a legendary coach and those players let him down big time. But it’s mainly on the GM. If you don’t build a winning roster how can you win?!?!
couldn't agree more. But losing Hamilton was a huge loss. This team needs a strong veteran presence as much as anything, and no one was there to fill this role. I am strongly rooting against them and if the Flyers fall, I'd much rather see the Islanders make it than the Devils.

Lindy wasn't the problem, and they should have replaced him when they cleaned house of the rest of the coaching staff was fired

Lindy was not a scapegoat here. Yes the goaltending has been abysmal this year, but so has the team structure in front of whatever goalie is on the ice. If all the goalies are having a bad year, maybe look at the team structure in front of them and not just the goalie? This team plays with zero bite and no push back, they never start on time (get scored on first almost every game), and it seems like they're coached to play offense first, which subsequently leaves the goalies out to dry. If I had a dollar for every back door tap in other teams have had against NJ....Yes I think Fitzy should have done something much earlier roster-wise but this was needed, end of story.

most ppl will probably find this stupid, but i gotta say it; the graphics for this show are awful. i paused at 0:56 and spent a minute trying to decipher why some teams were red and the others blue..like the yellow, i assumed it was related to the wild card race in some way. I thought maybe they're colored by division, then i realize the penguins were black. it finally clicked, it's just supposed to the teams colors...bc the logos and team names weren't enough I guess! THEN at 4:12 why is the right side yellow? well it must be bc they are comparing stats side by side and the yellow is acting as a highlighter for the better stat..something sports broadcasts have been doing since the invention of color tv........that must be it, right? nope, just bc.
Such mismanagement. Nothing this season was Lindy's fault. My fellow Devils fans are such babies. It's disappointing. Fitz is a terrible GM.

@EspecialllySpecial What defensive style would you have preferred with a D that isn't old enough to buy alchohol? The Power Play is ALSO 100% on Fitz, being we have Meier who is a bum, and Toffolli who now isn't even better than the kid we traded for him. Lindy is a HOF coach who completely over-achieved last year with the youngest team in The NHL. Teams that have no patience never win anything. See Devils 2004-2024.
@@Yoseman1 Lindy has also never won anything even while being carried by two of the best goalies ever for 10+ years. The game has passed him by long ago. There are other defenders beside hughes and nemec. Siegenthaler and Marino are both excellent defenders and have been for years. Yet under lindy ruff this season they have consistently been pinching, pressing, and structurally defending in terrible ways all year. Lindy has played half the team out of position. People calling him a scapegoat, he is the king of scapegoating. Giving Holtz 5 mins a game while on a scoring streak. Sending schmid to the minors while we have statistically the second worst goalie in the league starting every game. He also plays favorites. If 20 yr old dmen are the problem, why does he play Luke 22 mins a game without fail? The power play clearly has skill as well considering they were one of the best for 30 games. Teams have approached them differnently applying more pressure and that is on Lindy to find an answer. Obviously this team isnt cup level but Lindy had absolutley zero answers for the horrendous play theyve shown.

GREEN is not the answer and ruff was terrible like coach hynes and coach naz and let's not forget shero. Much of this staff is still from GM Sherio. They need to fire the whole coaching staff. We haven't had any goalie development in 12 years !! Goalie coaching? Zero!!
