On an uninhabited island 20 miles from the rugged Scottish coast, three lighthouse keepers arrive for their 6 week shift. I like that Gerard Butler is finally getting to portray a character using his own true accent.
Perhaps you missed it...But he uses his West Coast/Glasgow accent in "Dear Frankie"...Which was made long before this!

People I have *actually* watched this film and guess what; the trailer shows some of the first half of the film, not the last half. Don’t get presumptuous and think the confrontation is the end of the film… it’s not.

This is based on the true story of the 1900 mysterious disappearance of three lighthouse keepers of Eilean Mor, a small island, off the rocky west coast of Scotland. Keith McCloskey's book deals extensively with this matter. It's a great read.
That's true but there are so many different theories as to what actually happened and the movie is just one of them.
I think this was the one where the men were gone but their journal takes about a massive storm they were praying to God would stop. They were all experienced men so a storm in a safe new lighthouse should have been routine but it wasn't. There was no storm on record that night.
Its a true story, I’ve read the lighthouse keeper dissapearence in the coast of Scotland. But their dissapearence is still a mystery according to the source.
Well, the men disappearing is the true story. What happened on that island that led to disappearance nobody will ever know.

Honestly went into this blind on Netflix 2 nights ago and what a great movie. Idk how it left me feeling. Each person I saw a little of myself in. Truth is always stranger than fiction !

Good to see Peter Mullan getting proper billing here. He's done great work over the years and deserves the acknowledgement. Too often 'character actors' don't get billed along with 'stars' (or former stars, as is pretty much the case here).

Seems like those who comment on trailers all complain about "too much shown"...You have 2 basic choices: Don't watch the movie or stop watching trailers just so you can "see too much" and then complain about it.
Aren't they saying they dont need to know so much, like who tries to kill who? Some movies are promoted with images that entice people to see it without actually showing important story elements. When they don't ruin the mystery theres a lot better chance that a trailer will get me into the theater.

It's based on a famous story, where 3 lighthouse keepers disappeared under suspicious circumstances, and no-one knows what happened. This is one of 100s of theory's to suggest what happened to them. I hope they get all the evidence left behind right
There is about 5% of the truth of the real life events that happened in the early 1900s on Flannan Isles. there daily log did not mention anything at all apart from an incredible storm that lasted days. read the real manuscripts from the daily log. the film was good FOR FICTION THE FLANNAN ISLES LIGHTHOUSE MYSTERY

Looks good, by the time I get around to watching this movie I won't remember most of the plot. I'm guessing that if you run right out and watch the movie and you have a photographic memory this could spoil it for you, so maybe you shouldn't watch a movie trailer. Here I stopped at 1m17s and it seems that I was right when i read the other commentaries.
Sometimes I forget Gerard Butler is a good actor. He should focus more on this and less on saving the planet.

the part when he hits guy with the stone
when the criminal says "have you found something"

finishing it with the knife in his knee screaming and fading out...
They have to show enough to get you interested they didn't show half of how it ended or anything so they did a good job tbh. But I get your point.
