  • Welcome to xTreme Sequence's latest Monday Minutes tutorial! In this episode, we'll be exploring the importance of having different sequence views when mapping other people's sequences, and why it can be the difference between a sequence that works as intended or a complete failure.
    In today's tutorial, we'll be diving into the world of xLights Sequence Views, and how they can make your sequencing process smoother, more efficient, and ultimately help you create better sequences. We'll be covering everything from how to access different sequence views, to the benefits of using them when working with other people's sequences.
    So whether you're a seasoned xLights user or just getting started with the software, this tutorial is for you. So sit back, and let's dive into why xLights Sequence Views matter!

    Another great vid thank you Ron. My answer to the question "is the juice worth the squeeze?"---would be "yes when the display is WORKING!!!" HA. Thanks again

    Thanks. Wish I would have watched this six months ago to make my importing easier

      It's not easy keeping up as things change. I sure try my best to share what does.

    Auto mapping is just a pipe dream. I have sequences I've purchased from 2017 to the present. I can say with absolute certainty that I can pick a sequencing vendor and what they called the models in 2017 is very different than what they call them today. Even the sub-model names can be different. I have purchased sequences from 14 different vendors plus I have a number of the free sequences including XATW sequences. Keeping multiple models available for each vendor just to use auto-map is much more work than just mapping them when I get a new sequence.

      It's differnt for everyone. I have many that have similar Gilbert Engineering props and the auto mapping is a breeze. Some have models from different vendors and it can be more work. Some have many sequences from many vendors such as yourself and you just have to hunker down and put the work in. This hobby will never have standardization but people over the years are certainly becoming more lazy with expectations their food should be chewed for them. Such as life.

    For another Monday Minute, I'd like to see a little more in depth on how to set up views for auto-import. I've just been dragging/dropping each model I want to my show, but there's got to be a better way.

    Great video have been looking for something like this. Is there a way to, let’s say have two different sequences, one from company A, one from company B both with different render orders, to have two different views one for each vendor and there render orders.

    The juice is definitely worth the squeeze. 😂
    Videos are looking great. Professional presentation and great content.

    Darn Tootin! Thank you for another great video.
    So when I set up the master view, should it look the same in all of my new sequences?

    • @xTremeSequences
      @xTremeSequences  Před rokem +1

      That depends on the vendor's sequence you may be working on. I use Preferences to make my xTreme Sequences view the default view. When creating a new sequence before mapping xLights will ask you which view to use.

    Ron - I am one of those who does get sequences from different vendors. You are one of them. In making different views, how would we configure the group names in a certain view that pertain to each vendor? IE you do all pixels where others may do whole display. I know for the most part they all are pretty close but as we get more and more HD props out there, the issue will be finding the best props to map to if we do not have the same props. Hope this makes sense and thanks for your videos.

    • @xTremeSequences
      @xTremeSequences  Před 11 měsíci

      You can create as many groups as you want and apply them to the views. As for HD groups, those names should never change if they come from the coro vendor or xLights.

      @@xTremeSequences that makes sense. Thank you. Looking forward to getting and mapping your sequences. (no sure why my user name is all those letters. don't know how to change it or how it got there)

    I have several single item models in my list. But I have added most of them into groups. Can I pull out the single items from the master list and only have my group models?

    • @xTremeSequences
      @xTremeSequences  Před rokem +1

      You sure can but test it with a different group. I put everything with the exception of the Mega Star, Mega Tree, and my Matrix in their own groups.

    • @DepoeBayLights
      @DepoeBayLights Před rokem

      I think the key thing to remember here is the render order... It will start at the top and work its way down so if you have it in a group but you want the single item to do something different than the group you would want it to be there as a single item.

    • @xTremeSequences
      @xTremeSequences  Před rokem

      @@DepoeBayLights yes, but that's a different topic. This is more about the order of submodel group orders.
