With so many people privately finding and keeping in.private collections..what you do by handing everything over is why I love watching so much. History like this belongs to everyone, we learn so much from our past. Thanks for doing the right thing man.
I have never seen someone find A PAIR of Roman shoes, only a single shoe. How rare is that? Well done Si & Steve :-)
Leather from the Roman era is extremely rare.
Roman husband hears a crash - "What was that?"
Roman wife - "the kids bumped to good wine amphora and broke it"
RH - "Righto. They're cheap enough. Toss it out. No one will want it now"
2000 years later. Archaeologists - "SCORE! I just found some broken Roman era pottery! Happy days!". 😜 😂 😂
I'm surprised you didn't hear me from up here in Scotland I was shouting STOP HITTING IT lol. The Roman boots are amazing GL&HH Simon
Amazing just amazing...Your reverence for old “ treasures” is humbling. Many thanks guys!!!
Museum of London is on my bucket list! Thanks Si for sharing London with us!
The HHH back at it! Such an exciting find, those Roman shoes! Thank you so much for taking us to the museum and showing some of the items that mudlarkers have found. Hopefully one day you will have a found item in the museum!
I really enjoyed the museum tour. Since I live in the U.S. I may never get to explore the London Museum. I really hope I get to visit and do some mudlarking (with a permit, of course) and roam around London. Great video! Keep us posted on the Roman shoes.
toxigenic Thank you. Will do!
Fascinating adventure! Thanks for the look into the Museum of London. I appreciate your love of history and your willingness to take risks to uncover it.
Thanks Calvin!
Love the way the shoes were side by side just the way someone left them!
i guess someone died in them stuck in the mud... not fun haha
Thank you for taking us on your journey from ‘Mud to Museum’! ❤️🌝The Roman is mind blowing!!!
I am. Potter and I always get the shivers when you retrieve pots with throwing marks and fingerprints of the ancient potter. Wonderful, thanks so much
Another excellent video. Thanks My Si ❤❤ Thanks Steve👍👍
Oh WOW what a great adventure watching you two on the hover craft and mudding along.. really love your vids and the trip to the museum.. I can't even imagine how much fun it is for you to find hundreds of years old artifacts... I'm so envious that the US is so young compared to Europe!! Thanks for sharing your love of history and mystery!
suzyqz007 Thank you Suzy!
One of your best videos yet, great content, Great museum, love the hovercraft and look forward to many more, may you have lots of luck in the muck.
I never knew the Romans had hovercrafts. You learn something new every day :)
I believe Paddington Bear must have camped out there. Explains the marmalade pots.
My husband and I visited the Museum of London when we travelled to London from 🇨🇦 in 2015. It is a fabulous museum and well worth a visit.
Thank you, Si....it was lovely to see so much history in the museum! Fine job you've done again. Thanks also to all the larkers who contributed to history. I just love it!
Well said Karen! Thank you!
WOW, Thank you for saving those pots/pieces of history. I love History, WOW, That museum had a lot of amazing things.
Thank you Si, I know I will never make the it to the museum, so it is wonderful to get a glimpse.
That was a good episode. Thank you. I used to work in the City of London (from 1976- 1987) and never got to the Museum. Mind you, it wouldn't have had the artifacts then that it now has. I must find time when next in the UK.
Great job to you both! Thanks for taking us to the museum! That was a nice addition to the video. Also, marmalade jars make wonderful cover pots for nursery planters!
Awesome episode! Thanks for the London Museum segment! Thanks! 😎
AWESOME!! AWESOME!!
Loving every minute!! Keep up the good work!😃
Can't wait to hear about the Roman shoes!!
🤜🤛
Gentlemen, great adventure, many thanks for sharing museum displays...
Thank you kind sir!
Looks like they got stuck in the mud and they came off. Shit happens,
Great stuff si ! Always a pleasure to watch pal thanks for taking us along
I can pic a Roman jumping out of his boat landing in the mud hence losing his shoes in the muck. Then profusely shouting Roman profanities
That looks like an awesome museum. Love too see more
Well done guys, such super finds and as for the shoes, fabulous! Thank you for the look into the Museum of London the early swords were phenominal!
Roman shards, boots, an old grenade and marmalade jars galore. You and Steve had a great day.
Thanks Thomas!
Marmalade pots?
Any sign of a small bear called Paddington?
Wot i thot too
That was my first thought too!
Haha
Thanx fellas nice trip to the musem!! I would never get a chance to see such wonderful artifacts from history!!
Absolutely fantastic video lads. Well done and thankyou for the look around the London Museum.
I absolutely love your videos. I only wish that they were continuously coming, everyday, all day. Then again, I'd never get anything done. God bless.
Connie Cheers Connie. Good things come to those that wait x
Great Roman relics for the Museum.. Congratulations fellows
What a find! A PAIR of Roman shoes?! Think of it - you were the next people to see those after nearly 2,000 years. It boggles the mind. And over all those years, those two shoes stayed together!! 🤯💕😁
Another great video (although all those marmalade jars necessitated an emergency second breakfast!). It's so fun tagging along while you make your finds, and I really appreciate all the background you add (like making the pipe or this trip to the museum).
Thanks Amy!
Absolutely amazing that you are able to find this stuff. That’s one thing I’ve always been jealous of living in the US. I’d love to be able to go dig WW1 & 2 relics and the ancient finds that you two find. Great stuff guys👍
Paddington Bear lives out that way...saw him on the way to the shoe shop the other day. great upload boys...nice one.
Wow! Thanks so much for the tour in Museum!
THAT... was... FANTASTIC! I would be in that mud everyday looking for stuff!
Cheers mate!
Thanks for the awesome tour of the museum! I love the fact that you are able to go back in history so far! Being in America for a few generations limits us from the neat things you find and preserve. I love history!
Best video yet. Loved the tour through the museum. Would love more videos to end like that. Thanks for these.
Wonderfull to see all that roman Pottery 😁
Fab as always! The shoes? Well there are no words! Amazing! A revisit planned for the Museum....went years ago! We are so lucky to live in this history rich city. Misquote...''if you are tired of London then you are tired of life''
Well said! Thank you!
Once again a joy to watch. Thanks Hovercraft HQ.
Much more interesting than the London foreshore mudlarking! The Roman shoes were a fantastic find....as if someone set them down and forgot them.
I love your videos! You find the most amazing things. The views of the London Museum, just Wow! Glad to get to view it through y'all. Love mudlarkers!
Linda Kile Thanks Linda!
Wow wow wow!! so much history and such amazing finds.
If those old shoes could tell their story what a story that might be.
Thanks for sharing the trip to the Museum of London.,wish I could spend a day or two wondering around looking at all the amazing things.
Not sure if toys are a sign that children were well cared for at that time or proof that parents have always been trying to find ways to distract children for just a moments peace.
Thanks for another amazing video
Mike form Texas,Take Memories,Leave Footprints

Thanks so much for the trip to the London Museum! Enjoyed that very much (as well as the rest of your video!).
Thanks!
Fascinating. Thank you from South Africa 🇿🇦
Hi!
Those shoes! It was almost as if someone just took them off and placed them side by side all those years ago! Thanks for the look round the museum too! Fabulous!
Very interesting Simon, thanks for taking us on your adventure and the museum tour.
I'll definitely go to London Museum next time in London - on my bucket list now
Excellent! Love learning about Roman times!
Wonderful finds of the shoes and pottery! Love the hovercraft, it looks like fun!
That was an absolute belter of a video- thanks! Every piece of pottery, I was getting super excited and my eldest is now taking the mick over my hand flapping at roman pottery 🤣 so much history in one video, I cant wait for my next trip to 'That London' (even though nobody seems to stock yorkshire tea, never mind know how to brew it properly) I would love to see the museum of London ❤
I drink Yorkshire - I'll bring a flask! A proper brew ☕️
It was a thrill to watch ROMAN SHOES come out of the ground, absolutely stunning. This is a such a fantastic video, thank you so much for sharing this with us.
Thanks again from across the pond here in Kansas. Tony C
Cheers DD!
Wow, thank you for the museum tour, great bonus!
You do a great service to history
Thank you
.how are they doing a great service to history when all they show are human remains of a body lost.??no research..no realization of who these poor people are...so NO there is no great service
@@karenm7993 They're helping to record what's there. Maybe you'd prefer it was all swept out to sea forever and no one have any idea what was there?
Cannot get enough of the Roman pottery pieces; every piece is amazing and tells a story. Glad you didn't blow up on the granade! London Museum is now on my Bucket List. Have spent many hours in the British Museum, but onwards next time we are allowed across the pond.
Loved tour of the museum. Wonderful. Thank you for the tour. I took my son to London and we tried to go but for some reason the line outside was long and we didn’t get to go in
Absolutely brilliant video! Thanks very much, Si
thank you so much for sharing the history about the Roman shoes I'm excited to find out what they're going to do with them and thank you for the nice little tour of the museum thank you so much
Karen Mathews Thanks Karen!
What a fantastic video! The museum trip was extra special. I added this one to Awesomeness! Thank you.
Thanks Beth!
Interesting trip to the museum, I had been hoping you would take us there one day since you have frequently mentioned it. :)
It really is astonishing just how much Roman pottery can still be found so easily in the Thames estuary.
Great video, Awesome finds & well saved.
Thanks pal!
Damn this is the sickest channel on the whole of CZcams! Awesome intro, music, hovercraft, and history!
What a thrill finding those shoes!!
How cool is that flippin hovercraft. Loving the music too Si.
Hi Si and friend, thank you for your time and effort and videos. Awesome and amazing. Diane from Southampton UK
Thank you so much for the trip. I’ll say it again, I think I’d need a flotilla of hovercrafts to get me off that area. Wouldn’t want to leave anything behind! Also, the museum visit was a treat. Thank you! 🙏🏼🌎💖🇺🇸🌞
What a fabulous outing today! The hovercraft is so cool and looks like a blast to ride in! What amazing historic finds! Absolutely loved the trip to the museum...The treasures there just take my breath away! The lovely little bone dice were exquisite, as were the Bellarmine jugs! I thought the jugs were huge, from what I always saw from pieces found on the Thames, but these were small and quite beautiful. Til next time, take care! xx ~Jen
Thanks Jen!
Incredible to find such treasures it must be an incredible feeling!! Wow!!
I know it will take months to find out yet I'm very anxious to find out what the museum decides on those shoe bottoms 😀
That Roman pottery is beautiful and amazing to see. Thank you for showing me these awesome items 👍 thanks for the tour of the museum as well ☺
I loved this video
Thanks pal!
You and Steve have a great repport. Fascinating finds!
Thanks, we're good mates
Great Video Si.. Thank you.
How exciting......... Great finds..... assume with the Romans living close to the Thames all the pots, shoes etc would have just been thrown in the river and washed further out ?love history. 😊
I cringed every time you hit that grenade, love the other finds and thank you for sharing your visit to the museum 👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏🥰🥰🥰🥰
Incredible find!! Good eyes!! And thx for taking us along to the museum. I love museums! Simon, may the Good Lord see fit to Bless you with a truly fabulous, valuable, & rare find.
In the mean time, thank you for your informative vids. And thank your pally for his genius with the hovercrafts!
I have a huge map of Roman Britain and I had a look in the general region of the Thames foreshore. Not knowing exactly where you two were mucking about, I can share that there were a LOT of pottery and tile making sites largely along the south foreshore. That would account for all the beautiful shards and near complete bowls, etc. Deltas constantly change and we have had some measurable sea level rise in the past 2000 years. Those hobnailed shoe/boot soles may have been lost or sucked up in mud when the area where you found those was the beach or grassy "lawn" in front of anyone of a number of villas along that same shore. Retire officers were usually given some land or in kind benefits at the end of their careers. A nice beachfront villa would have been a welcome reward for 25+ years of service!! I am so envious of you for having access to so much ancient history in your back yards!!
Anna-Lisa Girling Thanks Anna, we expect and hope it to be part of a burial
Big thanks really enjoyed that x
Fantastic pieces of roman pots. Great 2 have onfo on dates etc. Those shoes were amazing. Great vid as always.👍👍👍👍👍
The museum looks amazing, you could get lost in there for hours
Fantastic. Along with a trip to the museum.
Excellent video. Very interesting and educational. See you on your next treasure hunt.
Jay Bales Cheers Jay!
The amount of marmalade pots makes me think a boat lost some of its cargo!
Wow those boots seeing them exsposed after who knows how long nice.the pottery bits so very great saving them also. Peace love & jello
TomCat
So exciting to find a pair of shoes like that, so perfect and side by side. I believe that owner must have taken them off before he went to bed, maybe placed them by his bed, or sleeping bag. But he never put them on again. Had to dash off in a hurry? Passed away...something sudden. Because why would anyone leave a pair shoes behind? The museum trip was great! Love your enthusiasm and love to share and teach history. 👍♥🥾
I would have loved one of those marmalade pots! Put them in your shop, Si!
Vickie Crouch I picked one up! Message me on Etsy
loved this :-) Thank you for sharing*
Thank you so much for this fantastic video.❤️☮️🇨🇦
What a great video! Awesome finds. THANK YOU for the museum visit. One of the best videos I’ve watched! Oklahoma, USA
Janice Gierhart Thanks Janice! Really appreciate that!
Awesome video. Very much enjoyed seeing the finds from the Thames. Fascinating !!!
You guys are awesome. Here's a little tip for you... Next time you find anything that might be solid and ''conon ball-ish'' taking it back to HQ and soak it in white vinigar. It will dissolve the oxidation... and you will live through it. Great job, guys.
Awesome video. Loved the museum, and watching ya'll having fun.
Those marmalade pots would make great herb pots for the kitchen window sill. Probably sell well in your Etsy shop, too.
I love how casual you sound finding a piece of Roman pottery, must be amazing finding something that old even if it is a plain piece. Wow those shoes are just amazing
Oh Si… the mother in me was saying “Nooo, don’t hit it! It could be an old land mine or something! Stoooop!”
Moms are usually wrong (ask a kid)- but I was so relieved that you didn’t explode it! Nice finds!
PS. The guy who forgot his shoes 2000 years ago got some teasing from his mates!
