Great brother and sister act! I always learn something useful about roses from you both and love to see you adding to your collections. I ordered two bare root Joie de Vivre roses from Parkers, ,both in the ground now and dong well. Good luck with all yours, if only the sun would come out and warm up, raining again here in Cornwall!
I have to say I would go for the quantity - those bargain "sticks" will soon be lovely rose bushes too - they just require a little more patience! JParkers is great for enlarging collections affordably. But of course you have to go elsewhere sometimes for those "special" roses. I am looking forward to seeing all these in flower.
Those bare roots are cheap but need extra care as it’s very dry. I had to prune the canes and trim a little of the roots to help it hydrate. Fingers crossed they all survive.
@@Lin_Greenfinger lin plant them in levington’s rose tree & shrub compost.. they’ll grow the most healthiest ever .. i have 36 damask roses & moss roses planted in this in October last yr. & you would be proud of them now with white,fluorescent pink , dark pink ,light pink , purple colours showing through the buds.. thousands of buds

I only recently became aware of Distant Drums (via Jay Jay) , you have got a bunch of beautiful roses, I envy the space you have for them all:) Last year I bought two Zephirine drouhin last year , thank you for the information about it being ok in shade, as I placed both there, so I look forward to seeing them bloom also. I look forward to seeing all your new blooms . It's gonna be amazing.
I definitely think quantity is the better deal .. but ..owning distant drums is my dream & i will have it one day & princess Charlene de Monaco is a stunner a bit like duchess of Cornwall which i have so you are 100% right in having them all.. i would.. we’ll done & enjoy them
Hello Lin, it’s my first time to visit your channel. I can see myself in you, I have plenty of of roses in the garden and still I can’t resist roses on sale or new varieties. Distant drums is quite famous, I don’t have that rose but Princess Charlene de Monaco is one of the best in my garden, it has lovely scent. I am for quality and quantity (for such a low price), some of the bare- rooted roses from Kordes and Rosen Tantau are good performers. They looked dried up but they will recover. 🌹

Sovenier da baden baden is a rose I looked at several times well done for getting one. I think the haul of bare root you got was probably better deal. But all awesome. I had DPD driver say to me… i’ve been here before a few times….i told him another van’s on it’s way to me too….i said yes u have..but this one is the last lot.. he said…i’m sure i’ll be back…. & so i’d ordered it from somewhere else & 2 other different company’s vans had delivered after that

Hey Raj, I’m not overly enthusiastic with filming just foliage 😢 it seems we’re not too far away from seeing blooms again. Believe me I’m like a grey hound waiting behind the gates for the Rabbit 🐰 turn around the corner.😂 Lin’s semi retired, I have to work 60 hours each week to pay for my roses and fertilisers 😢

@@Raj-hk5hg you’re so lucky Raj, my Charlene de Monaco never made it, when they sent me a replacement , I dare not touch it and kept it in its original pot it came in. Sadly that didn’t make it too. My fate with princess Charlene was never meant to be.. 😞

I had my first rose produce one flower a fortnight ago, but am still waiting for the second rose and for the real deal when all the bushes burst into colour. Perhaps if you worked more than 60 hours a week you could afford to buy as many roses as your sister? - just a thought. Do you really need to sleep?
@@nikkonch lol… if I work more than what I need , I’ll never have time to nurture my roses 🌹 I think Lin’s on a mission Nik, her garden will end up looking like my local garden centre with so many plants in pots. She really has gone bonkers 🤪 buying so many roses and not having the time to look after them. I’d probably have done the same if I had the space. I’m so jealous about you having Abraham Darby. That’s the only two fragrant roses along with Jude the obscure, both are on my wish list. I will keep searching.

Both of mine failed and now had a refund.
