Thank you! My Iron kept beeping and the Clean Calc was red I didn't know what to do and I didn't let the procedure of the cleaning continue as I thought it wasn't supposed to do that but thankfully it's clean now and actually brought out a lot of dirt so im happy with it now. 😅
This looks a fabulous generator. Will have to get a phillips as my morphy richards has stopped steaming and i can't do what this Philips does.
Before we start cleaning this, do we have to put water in the container? Or this water was generated from iron as it shows in the video?
Thank you🙏
Hoping against hope for a smile to stick around.
I have a Philips GV8461, with so-called Auto Clean and a Calc collector. Problem is, in the 4 years I've used it the calc collector has never collected any calc, and the iron's ability to pump out steam was dreadful.
Out of desperation, I did what you're not supposed to do... I used anti-calc solution for a kettle on my iron.
If you have young kids, do you know that time when they've had a cold for days, then they finally do a big sneeze and all the snot comes out ? Yeah, that's what happened with my iron. The holes in the based poured out the calc... there was loads of the stuff in there, and afterwards, the steam effect was back to full-strength at long last.
One slight side-issue... the iron is now unusable... each time I use it, there's a bit of brown liquid which also comes out, so the freshly washed clothes have to go straight back into the wash.
Moral of the story: no, these irons *don't* have Auto-Clean. And don't use kettle descaler on it. Even though you'll desperately want to.
Hi Mike. Sorry to hear of this. It is recommended to rinse it after every 10 uses to ensure it maintains optimal use throughout the years. If there are any questions or doubts, we recommend contacting us first so that we can properly assist and avoid damage. If you need any current assistance, please let us know. Have a great rest of your day!
Hello Mike, we hope that you are well. Please, let us know if we can be of any help. In case you have any questions or inquiries do not hesitate to contact us.
I find no problem. The iron doesn’t just automatically get rid of the lime scale. You have to remove the plug on the side and pour it out by rinsing. Perhaps I have a different iron? Mine is called Perfect Care easy clean.
I love my steamer but I too don't seem to have the decals tray. I have had no help calling customer service lines in the past and just stumbled on the comments section today! I am located in Germany. Is there somewhere I can order that part?
Hi Rosemarie, thank you for the comment! Could we ask you to send us a message on our Facebook or Twitter (@PhilipsCare)? Our team would like to help you with this. Thank you in advance! :)
Today, I just used this iron for the first time! It’s super! 💃🕺Since I don’t like ironing, I had a huge stash of laundry waiting for me but 😅, but I finished it very quickly! Thank you for this video, because it is not very well explained in the instruction that comes with the package. I absolutely recommend this product, it is really true what they say.. you do not have to manage the heat (I had my doubt’s !!), and the ironing goes very smoothly. And because you don’t have to fill in the water all the time, it is tremendously time-saving. Tip: if you should by this product, have a look at all the other related instruction-videos from Philips, I found them really useful. 💃😎👀🕺🧸
Thank you for your kind words, Sladjana. We understand laundry is not fun at all, but we love that our iron has helped! 😃
wow, this machine looks great! Gotta get one for this Christmas :)
Hi Philips. I have a GC8635 and the steam has stopped working altogether. I did the cleaning whenever the light indicated, but i just get nothing. Is there a reset, or is it worth getting it fixed? It still gets hot...
Hi there, thank you for making us aware of this - that does not sound right and we'd like to believe there is still something we can do to get your iron back steaming! Could you perhaps check if any of the points here happens to be the case? to.philips/6056EmTK8. We'll be looking forward to an update!
We bought the iron but never received the container. Can I use another kind of container/equipment to place my iron in for cleaning?
Hi there, Brock. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. If you're interested in purchasing a calc-clean container, could you let us know what your country of residence is? We'll be able to look into the price and availability of the container that way. Thanks in advance, hope to hear from you. :-)
I have the same issue the iron didn’t come with the container for cleaning the iron
Same. If we need it for cleaning why doesn't it come with one.
The model is a GC6600
Hi, i have a steamglide model, did regular decalc operation, but now no steam comes out. If i run decalc cycle, nothing comes out. The iron does get hot though. Any help appreciated.
Hi, thanks for reaching out with your concern regarding your SteamGlide iron. It's important to ensure that the water tank is filled above the minimum level as an empty tank can prevent steam production. After refilling, please allow the iron up to two minutes to heat up until the 'iron ready' light indicates it is ready to produce steam. Ensure that the temperature dial is set correctly; it should not be on the 1-dot position, SYNTH setting, or in Calc-Clean mode. If your model has the OptimalTemp feature, try pressing and holding the steam trigger for more steam. In case the issue persists after these checks, it could indicate a technical problem that requires further assistance. Please contact us through one of our Social Media channels, or the support page on our website, for a more detailed resolution. Rest assured, we’re here to help you get back to smooth ironing as soon as possible.
@Philips my model is Phillips PerfectCare Compact Steam Generator Iron 2400W. There is no temp control, and I regularly used calc button. Now no steam comes out of it doesn't matter whatever I do/try. The product is not even 2 yrs old

What can I do for the moisture that stays inside the water tank after I empty it? Can mold develop on the inside of the tank?
Hi there Nick. We'd recommend cleaning the moisture inside the water tank even after you clean you perform the steps above. However, if the issue persists, feel free to get in touch with us via Facebook (@Philips) or (@PhilipsCare). Cheers.
I have the same iron, the calc is not coming out the steam is low what should I do please.
Hello, thanks for reaching out. This is odd, and we would like to take a closer look. Do you mean that there is no limescale coming from device, despite descaling your steam generator iron? We hope to hear from you.
Hi again! Just a reminder that we're happy to help with your iron - feel free to reply here directly, or send us a message on Facebook or X. That way we can assist you further. Hope to speak to you soon!
I don’t know what model my steam generator iron is it was one of the first PefectCare models and it has stopped steaming. I want to find out where there is a Philips authorised service centre to get it fixed. Have tried looking but can’t seem to find anything - help !
Hi there, Gilly. We would gladly help you on this. Kindly send us a private message on either our Facebook (/Philips) or Twitter (/PhilipsCare), with a picture of the product details imprinted on your steam generator, along with your country of residence, and we will guide you through the service center process. Iron Machine Is Good I came to watch the video but with this Iron Machine, how much time can be ironed by heating the water and how many cuts can be painted iron and how it will be tick sign, how long will the warranty and guarantee be given?
Are you illiterate?
Mine is bleeping as soon as switch on won't get hot or de cal any ideas what to do help
Hi Carol, could you reach out to us on Social media? Facebook, Twitter or Instagram? We'd be happy to assist you with this. Hope to hear from you.
I had to return this iron as the boiler was filling with water and coming out of the sole plate even after descaling. The iron was brand new and only used a few times. My sister, who I had recommended she buy one, had the same problem. I can't understand why there is not a screw out valve on this model like there is on the perfectcare aqua???
Hi there, Deb. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We'd like to investigate this a bit further. What exactly do you mean by the boiler was filling with water after descaling? Could you perhaps share a video with us where you demonstrate the problem? That would be really helpful. Thanks in advance, hope to speak soon! :-)
Hi. To clarify further the iron I had the problem with I think was the Perfectcare Compact but very similar to the one in this youtube video. I can't demonstrate with a video because as I said I took the iron back for a refund. The iron was leaking water out of the sole plate whilst ironing which was obviously coming from the boiler where the steam should be generated, it was coming out as water and not steam. There is no way to empty the boiler of residual water. This happened before the descaling,,not after. I tried the descale process to try and rectify the problem but it made no difference. Previous to this I had a Perfectcare Aqua which had a screw out valve in the side of the boiler tank (where the steam gets generated) which I could take out after letting the iron cool, to descale and empty the excess water, rinse out and replace the valve (sorry don't know it's proper name) as per the instructions. Not being able to empty the residual water from the steam generator boiler of the Compact doesn't make sense. I might add though that the Perfectcare Aqua is by far the best iron I have ever used and would hate to use any other type but it's just too expensive for my budget hence why I bought the cheaper version,,the Compact which I had to return. The problem with the water leakage stops me from buying another one though which is disappointing. I hope this clarifies better for you. In addition I would just like to add that I have been extremely please with Philips customer care in the past as I have had several repairs and services done at little or no cost and would highly recommend Philips to anyone because of this. Kind regards. :)
Hi Deb, thanks for getting back to us so quickly and for telling us a bit more about what happened with your PerfectCare Compact. It's a pity to hear that the device was not performing as it should and that descaling it did not make a difference, especially since you've been so keen on the previous PerfectCare model you've owned. We're always open to improvement, so we highly appreciate it that you've shared your honest thoughts regarding the (lack of the) screw out valve. Your feedback has been duly noted. Also, many thanks for the big compliment about our service. We're always happy to help, so in case you have any questions for us in the future, don't hesitate to get in touch. We wish you a very nice week. :)
do we need to put water in the container..and for how minutes?
Good question, Mochimin. Certainly you'll need to add water to the container. In about 30 seconds you'll be able to change the water into steam for the freshest garments. :)
All three lights on my iron are blinking. What could be the problem?
Thanks for your comment, Sameen. We'd be happy to see how we can assist you. Please contact our colleagues on Facebook (Philips) or Twitter (@PhilipsCare). They will be more than happy to assist you further.
Hi, my iron bleeps for cleaning all the time, yet hardly anything comes out when I descale it now. Also doesn't seem to get as hot, is there another way I can clean this? Apart from that, it's been a really great iron
Hi there Debbie, that doesn't sound good, but don't worry, we'll get this sorted. Could you tell us the product number of your iron? Thanks in advance.

I have a Philips Steam Generator which has stopped steaming - I tried calc clean and that doesn't work - I always use bottled water.
Philips advises on not using bottled water
I’ve followed this procedure every3weeks or so ever since I e had my iron but now my iron is clogged full so no steam and I can’t even descale as so clogged. Any suggestions ?
Hello Henrietta, thanks for your feedback. We are sorry to hear your iron is clogged. Do you use tap water to iron? And is the water in your area particularly hard? If so, this may be the reason for your iron issues. Please use only demineralized water in your device, and try the descaling process again. Feel free to let us know how it goes!
@@Philips yes I use tap water. I’ve had the iron for over 2years and never had an issue before. I’ve tried the calc clean quite a few times but with no luck. It starts and you can hear it trying to clean but not a bit of steam comes out the actual iron sole plate as it’s completely clogged. I last discalced it over the new year. Il try a few more times to see if it works
Thanks for your update, Henrietta. Please let us know if these new attempts to descale your iron resolve the issue.
Hi, Henrietta! We were wondering if descaling helped, or if we could be of further assistance? Awaiting your reply.
@@Philips Good morning
No it didn’t help. The descaling process kicks in and runs but where the iron is clogged no steam came out at all so process is incomplete. I tried many times but no luck.
I have just bought a new PerfectCare Compact Philips steam generator as I really like the Philips irons.
I’m going to use the water as you said initially as I do live in a hard water area. I wanted to ask does it have to be demineralised or can deionised or distilled water also be used? Also do you use it 50/50 with tap water??
Thank you in advance, Henrietta
hi... please help..my iron is not steaming when pressing the button for steam..what should i do?
Hi there, thanks for asking! Hmm, that sounds unhandy! Could you let us know which iron you have? Feel free to send a photo of the product sticker via Facebook or Twitter. :) Talk to you soon!
my iron is gc8700 perfect care performance
Hi there, thanks for letting us know! Have you perhaps already descaled your PerfectCare Performer, to see if that makes a difference? You can find the instructions on the following page: to.philips/6051EEL73. If that does not help, please check if the water tank has been placed correctly. Will you let us know how things go?
yes...ive done calc clean but no water out from the iron...the button also not blinking..water tank click after install...
Hm, what a pity that descaling your PerfectCare Performer did not help. It could be the case that descaling once is not enough, especially when you live in a hard water area. Could you descale the device a second and (if necessary) a third time? If the device still won't produce steam, could you then let us know how much water is in the tank and what type of water you use? We'll be right here awaiting your response.
How can the water container be cleaned? Although we use destillated water, it is full of dirt which gives bad ironing results…
Hi there, Daniel. Thank you for your comment. We're sorry to hear the performance of your iron is not as you would like to have it. Have you descaled the iron already? This should affect the water container as well. You can descale and clean as instructed in the video above:
When the DE-CALC light flashes, it's time to descale. For best results, you can do this as part of your regular ironing routine.
Unplug and let your iron cool completely - at least 2 hours.
Place the steam generator at the edge of a table or sink. Hold a cup (at least 350 ml) under the EASY DE-CALC knob.
Remove the knob. Let the water and scale particles flow out.
Put the knob back in place and turn clockwise to tighten.
You are now ready to keep ironing!
Let us know if this has helped you or not, we'd love to take a closer look. ;)
@@Philips Thanks for your help. Yes, descaling works. But there is a lot of dirt in the water tank - that can't be cleaned, can it?
Hi Danial. Thanks for coming back to us. You can try filling the water tank with hot water, and rinsing it afterwards. This should help get it clean. :) Let us know how it turns out. ;)
@@Philips Hi, my iron doesn't have descale knob. The perfect care compact. Do i still need to empty the tank after calc clean?
Hi Philips, can I use vinegar instead of water for the cal cleaning?

Hey there Vee, we're sorry to learn that you've lost the container.
