Who's here because they bought a garment steamer, gave it a try then wondered if they're doing it right? Just me? Oh okay. Hahaha
That is me lol. Steamer was delivered 30 minutes ago, I steamed with mediocre results, then thought.. Hang on, maybe watch some youtube video lol.
Exactly what I'm doing here lol
You got me😂
Me🙋♀️and the almost 2 million people who watched this😊
Me
She made perfect sense and I am embarrassed I was spitting water all over my clothes and tap water at that. Thanks for teaching me how to stream my clothes at 37 LOL
it's never too late to learn something new :P
Thanks for this, I bought a clothes steamer and had no idea how to use it, now it works great.
It looks very time consuming… I thought a Steamer is for a quick fix..
Your instructions: simple and effective. Thank you.
Thank you... I just got my first steamer and your video was not only helpful, but it was also enjoyable to watch. You're awesome. :)
This video should be called - How to TALK about steaming your clothes...
exactly. I see a lot of talking and not a lot of steaming clothes
😂
can you steam your down jacket?
cuz i'm afraid i can't wash it
SERIOUSLY...
@@yukernzhen She is totally in love with herself, and just likes hearing her own voice.
this came in good time. I bought a steamer a year ago and never used it. I'm glad you said distilled water because I would have just used tap water. I have 2 curtain panels that I want to steam out the wrinkles. Great motivation.
Jennifer Ann Fox I just took my out of the box as well and I bought my over a year and half ago. I would have used tap water as well. So I agree that this is a great video and I'm getting ready to try it in a few minutes.
Maybe read the instructions or look at your kettle to see if it has limescale or your loo! it is hardly a tip!
Smart, sensible, helpful. Thank you Melissa.
This was everything absolutely iconic thank you
Thank you for sharing! I've always considered investing in a garment steamer, but I never knew what to look for. Are garment steamers that different from each other?
Perfect explanation. Thank you very much
Hi Melissa, could you show me how to steam the the bottom and cuff, I always have a problem to steam the bottom id clothes, thx
Melissa, I have read some of the comments and they are dead wrong. I used my OXA which I have had in the box for a year and a half. I can't believe how easy it was to use. Thanks for the tutorial. I literally just used it on curtains I just made for my new apartment. It worked like a dream. Thanks alot. I gave thumbs up and will subscribe. Thanks a lot.
Any moron can steam ...especially straight bits of material! hardly rocket science !!
Sorry nothing about the power (wattage) use!
Very nice and engaging presentation! Well done!
I thought this was a video made by a brand at first. You're amazing!
Great tips. I've been steaming my clothes for years the wrong way. I never thought to use distilled water. I guess that explains why I need to keep buying steamers. Thanks for the great tips.
It says it in the instructions ....
appreciate the humour.. thanks for this !
Merry Christmas, Great tip about distilled water. Great video and tutorial.
what sort of room do you use it in? We live in a damp climate and mould is an issue here. Thanks for the tips - steaming extra on a specific area and using essential oils. That's great.
Hold 6 inches away from your garment *holds 1.5” away from the garment* 😂
Seriously. Wtf
Maybe her partner told her that's 6' 😂
@@georgep7862 🤣🤣🤣
…it’s definitely 6”. Watch again. 6” isn’t that much space. 1” is practically touching. It’s just the angle so it looks close.
Mine should touch the clothes directly
Beautiful! Thank you!
ohhhhhh distiller water!!! who would have thunk it??? 😅😅😅 my "little steamer" has been a trooper lol
@@lilyloveslife2737 whooooosh
@@lilyloveslife2737 You missed Jane Smith's humor, her ironic allusion to a famous 1920s-forward comedy malapropism.
@@lilyloveslife2737
I have never used distilled water. I have a few different steamers, which I use in a variety of ways, and tap water has never caused any issues! I find Joy Mangano's steamer to be useless, not matter what type of water is used.
@@lilyloveslife2737 it is a very common expression, used in a humorous way. How sad you lack a personality.
Thanks. Love your channel !
thank you so much for sharing, very helpful.
Thank you this was a lifesaver
Very informative. Thanks to your video I just fwd your video to costume interns rather than me talking forever. Thank youuuu.
can you steam wool blankets from thrift store? is this enough to kill germs for relatively new looking items from the thrift?
Right on thanks Merry Christmas
Excellent tutorial!
@Melissa Maker Conair should hire you to write their instruction manuals. The people in charge, obviously have no sense of reality. If they had, they would have included all of this in the manual. I'm keeping mine instead of returning it as I intended because of you. I really appreciate, thank you so much. Conair should not just thank you, but give you a job!
Amazing video Melissa! Wish you had one of our steamers!
Thank you! This is great!!
Can you please tell us what kind of steamer you use, and which one is best on the market ?
Omg I remember you from all those cleaning videos way back when. Glad I found you again and that you’re still doing videos
This was great, thanks!
thank you for this videeooo ! it seems super easy and i still feel im kinda doing it wrong. i may need to get a better one. idk!
Melissa, I love youj, respect you, and need you, but demonstration makes a good video. I don't have a garment steamer, I have never SEEN a garment steamer, and I have never seen anyone USE a garment steamer, either. We iron. For hours! Sometimes all day on Saturday! ALL DAY ! So it would help if you would actually show a few garments and how to steam them: a wool suit or winter wool slacks - what about the lining? a silk blouse? shirts and dresses that got wrinkly in the closet altho already ironed....silky nighties, linen shirts, etc. Not just talk about it. Please. I hate ironing, but love summer cottons. But how? Will the collars pull at the corners? How can you get the button placket to lie flat? etc.
Great information!!
Thank you great advice
Quick question does anyone know if a steamer uses less electricity than an iron?
Great video! Thank you!
What’s a good brand to get ? Going to buy one soon. For clothes and curtains and such
I was actually putting the steamer on the clothes🤦🏽♀️… you’re a life saver
Same to me dia
First CZcamsr that straight called me ugly... im subbing
Great Charisma Champ!
Thank you and what steamer would you recommend?
Thanks! This was helpful
Great tips!
Great video - Will a steamer restore fabric shape like an iron does?
This is fantastic and so easy. Thanks for this innovation.
She didn't bloody invent it
@@tijay8507yes she did
this was great!
I just wish in a few years from today we will look back at all the time humans wasted on ironing or steaming clothes and laugh, happily, with more time to spend on other things because technology made clothing unwrinklable.
LG Style Steamer... You're welcome.
It already exists. I have some dress shirt that never seem to have any wrinkle no matter how I store them.
@@NoReply28 Ok, but when will they invent linen garments and curtains that don't wrinkle???
This was helpful. Thank you very much.
Can you please indicate which brand and model of steamer you are using. Thank you
never seen something less helpful in my life
Me either!
Does it really work ... do u get the same results as iron ?????
Didn’t know about the need for distilled water. Good video
Thank you soooooo much😘 God bless U always!😚
Great video. Always wanted one but didnt know if it was worth it. Definitely getting one
Thank you! You are very clever and have a very good sense of humor!
Clever ....don't make me laugh!!!
Hi can I put scent in the water so it smells nice for clothes OR for around the home please
The steamer I have says to use tap water only. Would I damage the steamer by using distilled water?
Thank you Melissa!!! Btw your hair looks beautiful 😉
Thanks, I appreciate the detail.....
I have a large steamer and love it.
Can u make a video about cleaning the steamer?? I wasn't using distilled water and it has that buildup u mentioned on this video. Thx
Thanks!
can you steam (organic) cotton, tencel/lyocell, cupro, and modal?
Hi , I am in doubt to buy iron or steamer. can sb tell me his/her experience and introduce me a good brand?
We love ❤️ you Melissa
My current iron has a peeling teflon plate and a busted steam function. It just left a small stain on a blouse that I just made.
When searching for advice online about a new iron this video came recommended.
Could you use a steamer like this to remove wrinkles on a 100% cotton poplin blouse that has lots of gathering on the sleeves, and pintucks on the front?
I would still need to buy a new iron but it took me ages to iron the thing so perhaps steaming is quicker.
I would guess that steaming might blur pleats and creases (as in dress pants) meant to look sharp, but might be okay for gathering, whose gathers are stitch ordained; ditto pintucks.
Oh.... cause I'm using it and it's like an arm workout lol....
How do you steam the bottom of the shirt? I find that I burn my hands because am trying to hold it taught but the steam falls down near my hands
Hello..just how many clothes u can iron?I it okay to iron like 5clothes
I think its good for t shirts and weekend wear, not sure about using for a important meeting or for sales people
The steaming result look is not "starchy."
Instead of putting a hook on the back of a door, would it work if I hung the clothes on a hanger hung on my shower rod?
What steamer are you using? every steamer I get spilling out water a lot of water please help I have sent 3 back.
Can we use purified drinking water? Like bottled water?
🎉🎉 thank you
Excellent video
What steamer are you recommending?
Now I need a steamer ASAP!!!
Yes - they are amazing!!!!
Thank you so much
The problem I have with my steamer is I cant get the wrinkles out the bottom of my t shirts because I can't hold it tight unless I want to melt my fingers off
Thank you - Very Well Done - I appreciate the insight.💝
Does the steam clean the garment as well
Which hand steamer is best
So cute and helpful
Can you let tap water sit for over 24 hours then add it to the steamer or does it HAVE to be distilled water?
Please tell us what steamer do you use
Thank you
thank you!
What kind of steamer are you using?
My conair steamer simply does not get all the wrinkles out even if I hold the fabric taut. Nor does it save time as it is advertised to do. Better just to iron it or have it pressed. Maybe I am doing it wrong open to suggestions.
I bought a steamer a couple years ago, thinking it would be easier than ironing. I found it took much longer and was less effective than ironing. And 6 inches away? The steam rises into the air by then. Steamer heads are made smooth so they can touch the fabric. For delicate fabrics you can hold it maybe 1 inch away. This is advised in several other videos on this topic.
It’s for cotton, spandex and other materials not meant for ironing
@@hcrystalhit is indeed in many cases, for normal clothes cause it’s more gentle than ironing
Exactly, so confused why it’s not touching the clothes, except for very sensitive material
i love it
can you use it on wool ?
I bought a steamer thinking I would save time from traditional ironing. Not only do the clothes stay somewhat wrinkly, but I constantly burn myself, and it takes easily about 5 times longer than it would with an iron. What a terrible idea of mine and what a waste of my time and money. Back to the iron it is.
How can you get the edges of a garment with the steam when you are holding it taut by the edge?
Burn your thumb like I did yesterday...which brought me to this useless video 😒 😂😂
Tyfs!
