  • Former Walmart - Bedford, OH *As Seen From The Sky*. Enjoy a small look around this old Walmart from a bird's eye view. I walk around the front looking through the doors and discovered the place was now being used after it sat abandoned for several years. Thanks to the DJI Mavic Mini, you'll be able to see this large store from up in the sky.

Shopped at that store while in college in Rockford in 2012-2014. That store had 2 personalities. It total changed after 6pm, if you were white or elderly you weren't safe there & theft was unbelievable. The shelves were always empty and the employees & management were nowhere to be found. They would park shipping containers in the side lot full of seasonal merchandise and they would be picked clean within days. The cool thing about that store was at all 3 main enterances where the long stripes on the pavement are. Those were heated during the winter and snow wouldn't stick and just melt away.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane....

This is my old neighborhood and my Walmart I went to. I don't know the whole story but theft was a problem here. I remember seeing an empty chicken bucket from the deli that someone ate and put on the shelf before being paid for. People hung out in the parking lot and it was a bit sketch going there at night. This area has been dying for a long time. This property had a Hills/Ames store too before the teardown and new construction. A Handy Andy and some other grocery stores I don't know the name of were on the property too. Their was an old Finest/Tops across the street along with a Dollar Tree and Target. Sad to see but that area Is a skeleton of what it used to be.

@@RyGuy0520 Yep good old Macedonia, lower sales tax and a nicer environment to shop in. It was only 15 minutes away from me so we went there if we didn't want to bother with the Bedford Walmart. Aurora has a nice one too right across from the old Geauga Lake property. Man I'm out of state now and I miss those areas and especially all the beautiful Metroparks Ohio has available to us.

  • @bigfoot060775

Actually there was a time when Walmart had quite a bunch of empty stores. Ironically, this was because Walmart was putting super centers all over the place, and then simply abandoning their original locations, leaving them to sit for years and years! The original stores, like the super centers that replaced them were almost always stand alone stores with just enough parking for the said store, so it wasn’t like they could just add on to the original locations. So in almost every instance, the new locations were constructed a short distance from the old stores.

I have alot to say about this plaza as my Grandma lives in this area and always took us here but I will try to keep it short lol jk! That big empty section to the right of the plaza (bonus footage) was a Target store that closed shortly after the walmart opened and it was demolished a few years later One of the earliest memorys I have here is when the target first opened back in 1995 for the grand opening event they were allowing kids to mold their hand prints in the cement near the front of the store which my brother my sister and I did it too I was like 4 at that time so it would have been cool to see our little hand prints now but it all got torn up with the demolition also the location across the street where the walmart was used to be a Hills (later Ames) a Reiders Stop n Shop (most became Giant Eagle this location closed in the later 90s as there's plenty of Giant Eagles around here) and a long abandoned Handy Andy hardware store (closed in 1996 during bankruptcy) which all got demolished sometime around 2007 to relocate the Walmart here from City view in garfield heights

Every township or city has different standards when it comes to store fronts. Some cities require nice brick or specific colors on the front of commercial buildings including Walmart. Walmart has building engineers and architects that follow the cities rules on how many parking spaces, square footage, paint schemes, parking lot lighting, store signs size and shapes. Some cities are very strict on it. So if Walmart or any commercial retailer wants to open a store in a city then they have to get approval from the city council.
