    I had to stop the video to make a cup of tea so that I could enjoy this repot in a cool pot by the master, Mr. Houghton.

    I watched some of your early videos a year or two ago and drifted away. Loving the content and delivery of the videos now, having come across you again. Little tweaks, big results 😊

    Interesting idea, well done! If you cut the plate in half you could use a couple of bolts to make removal easier. And the leaves should reduce a bit in time. Flowers don't so it could be quite a thing later in the year.

      Great tip m8 cheers,i will see what this year brings on it David

  • @growclipbonsaiforseniors1951

    You are going to get some nice growth out of this clump come spring. Pruning will give the CTC a nice start. Excellent!

    I just found a super idea with the metal plate! That's a great idea. I can't wait to try it out on some trident maples. I like that. Your accent is so cool. Keep sharing some of your other ideas and I look forward to seeing the progress. Thanks Ryan👍

    Well you can definitely call that a success Ryan, brilliant!!. Looking forward to seeing what species you go for next and if the larch worked. Sure it will have if the cherry is anything to go by. 👏👍

    Brilliant Success Ryan!
    I’ve had similar success using metal washers and seedlings.
    I glue the washers over a larger piece of rigid plastic and thread the seedlings through. Thanks, keep growing

    Great video Ryan. I am glad the experiment worked out and these trees are looking great! Thank you for sharing!

  • @growclipbonsaiforseniors1951

    That is one massive root system that you developed in ground with the metal plate. Hard work digging it out and getting the plate off. Well sharpened saw did the trick. I was thinking gloves for the next time so you do not cut your hands on the removal. Just a thought on that.

    • @houghtonbonsai
      @houghtonbonsai  Před 7 měsíci

      Yes Tom it was hard to get out, i will think about the gloves lol

    Love it when a plan comes together. As an experiment it worked very well mate. An idea can be used for the future trees to create clump style. All the best with it Ryan. BTW what have you done with the big fella Mick?

    Did i miss something, how was the clump started? With multiple seedlings, or suckers?

    • @houghtonbonsai
      @houghtonbonsai  Před 7 měsíci

      it was started with seedlings m8, at the end of the video there is two videos on when i started them

  • @gerryvalle1841
    @gerryvalle1841 Před 7 měsíci

    Seems likely that the roots growing in between the center of the clump will grow larger. Why did you decide to leave them in this repot?

    • @houghtonbonsai
      @houghtonbonsai  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Like I said in the video m8, I have took to much root off buy digging it up and I will do more root work next year,need it to recover it’s not gong to grow that big as it’s in a pot now

    • @gerryvalle1841
      @gerryvalle1841 Před 7 měsíci

      @@houghtonbonsai I’m missed that part, thank you. I picked up a bulk set of flowering Japanese cherry tree seedlings which I made into several clump-style bonsai. I currently have them in a basket but I think I’ll moved them into the ground and watch them explode with grown like yours. Thanks for sharing.
