My husband passed on Christmas Night a few years ago. While I try to keep my feelings to myself, it's something else entirely when people expect you to be just as giddy as they are.
Just days before his passing, I had a store clerk try to tease and joke with me, but I just kept quiet. That prompted comments of my being a Grinch, Sour Puss and Debbie Downer. I burst into tears, and lashed out that my husband of 25 years was at home, in Hospice care, dying, wouldn't see the New Year, and the clerk wanted me to be *happy?!
I regret the way I handled it, but neither should I have been called names for being quiet and withdrawn.
Truly, we never know what other people are going through. Kindness is never the wrong response.
My father died on the 24th of December 2004 from respiratory infection. He had been a heavy smoker all his life. He was 46 when he died.
My thoughts also go to those who daily live their death at the hands of the Great Killer called Loneliness. It gets particularly nasty around this time of the year.
I'm sorry for your loss. Grief knows no expiry date.

Respect for the dead is a given of common decency, and the creators of this channel have always done their utmost to treat the subjects of their videos with respect and dignity, often saying as much in explaining that they were real human beings with families and loved ones. There was really no reason for Children of the Corn up ☝️there☝️ to throw that out there, other than to elicit outrage and eye rolls from the BTS audience.
@Michael Andrei Palon who said I was here to help? Now I would never go out of my way to intentionally be cruel to someone who had lost a loved one around this time. But also people shouldn't be catered to by strangers because they have suffered hardship and I certainly won't coddle a stranger because of it. I know if this time of year was hard for me due to loss I certainly wouldn't want to ruin everyone else's holidays because of MY hardship that's just selfish.

Thank you for talking about the Fort Worth 3, as they are referred to locally. Despite all the true crime channels out there, their case has rarely gotten any attention.
Didn’t lose a family member or anything like that but I did just have my work truck with all of my tools stolen right out of my driveway a couple days ago ): and that has been enough to ruin my Christmas. Can’t imagine losing a loved one. God bless everyone. Much love to all and especially the Bedtime stories team!

The police running the Fort Worth trio being ruled as runaways at first always bothered me because even if the two older girls did leave of their own free will (something I VERY much doubt), the police didn't care a nine-year-old was with two non-relatives against the wishes of her parents?

Christmas has always been a depressing time for my family. My grandma and grandpa's first home burned to the ground on their first Christmas together. One of my uncles (their oldest son) had a toddler daughter who was trampled by a horse on Christmas eve shortly before he had to go off to war (in Vietnam), and one of my OTHER uncles (their youngest son) was killed in a major car crash on Christmas eve...

I've been retired for 4 yrs and I got a call yesterday, Christmas eve that a former coworker of mine had passed away at work because of an aneurysm. He had 3 kids and I can't imagine how their future holidays will be saddened over this.

Yay new video! Personally despise xmas myself, not cared for it for about 16 years.
I had a cousin about a year younger than me, who joined the Marines and was sent to Vietnam. Two weeks before Christmas in 1969 he was killed in a skirmish with the Viet Cong. I don't think the family has ever really gotten over it. He was much loved and much missed.
The Fort Worth three. I really looked into that case- the main hired private investigator on the case “committed suicide.” But this was after it was thought he made progress on the case. All I can say is that I doubt it was a stranger that took the girls in that case, but rather they went with someone they knew.😢
Recently saw the first story on an old Robert stack episode of unsolved mysteries… they showed an update saying it was “solved” and that a man had confessed to it. Glad to see this episode, this is much more mysterious than I thought it was.

The Season of Sadness is far too appropriate for how it feels so many of us these days. We can only envy those who can still feel joy during the traditional "joyous time of the year."

My coworker is still looking for her son who seems to have disappeared a week ago. I really hope he’s found ok but agony is the main word that comes to mind.
I lost my dad to cancer four years ago in December so that has definitely taken some of the joy out of the season.
Really hope your co-worker’s son is found safe. I too lost my dad four years ago. Christmas just isn’t the same.

@@suziecarr1566 yes! He was found! He had to be in the hospital for a little while but he’s recovering at home with his mom. I am so happy for her, since so many of these stories don’t end well.

The last story reminded me of a terrifying incident that I hadn't thought of in years; and it was, oddly enough, something that happened when I was travelling back to college after Christmas break. My family lived quite far out in the country. To get to the interstate, I had to drive for about ten miles on a winding two-lane road that went through a deeply wooded area. No houses were allowed in that area, so there was very little traffic. As I reached the halfway point, I noticed something in the roadway. It was a man lying across the centerline, and as I drew closer I saw that he was shouldering a rifle to aim it at my windshield. What could I do? I had only seconds to think. It was impossible to turn round because of the deep ditches on each side of the road. And I knew immediately that it was foolhardy to stop. So I did the only thing I could: I floored the gas pedal and dove straight ahead even though I ran the risk of hitting the man. He rolled out of the way at the last instant, and he never did fire the gun. He could quite easily have shot me. It was general knowledge that a lot of bad things had happened along that road but it was the closest route to the highway, so I had to use that road again for years and every time I did I thought about the man with the gun. But since I've long ago moved away, I have stopped wondering about why a person would do such a thing and wondering what would have happened to anyone who was foolish enough to stop or slow down when faced with a gun like that.

Did you... Ever report that to police? Sorry for questioning you if you did, but a lot of people seem to be too stupid, selfish, or lazy to actually report serious crimes, I've been getting a bit jaded lately.
@@userequaltoNull The nearest telephone was about ten miles away on the very rural road I was travelling, a place where no building is allowed and no people live. This was in 1981--no cell phones.
As a general rule, i do my best not to be stupid, selfish, or lazy, and I'm not afraid to report to the police if necessary. I also endeavor not to unduly criticize others.

Between Halloween and Christmas, I've always considered the latter much darker. Halloween is meant to be scary and fun. The expectation that Christmas is supposed to be festive and altruistic presents a stark contrast when darkness knocks instead of Santa.
Plan of Salvation
Before we were born on earth, we lived with our Heavenly Parents as Their spirit children (see Doctrine and Covenants 138:55-56). At a council with all of His children, Heavenly Father presented a plan, known as the “plan of salvation” or “the great plan of happiness” (Alma 42:5, 8). The plan includes all the laws and ordinances of the gospel necessary to gain eternal life, “the greatest of all the gifts of God” (Doctrine and Covenants 6:13). Sadly, one-third of Heavenly Father’s spirit children did not accept the plan. They chose to follow Lucifer, who became the devil, and were cast out of the presence of God (see Revelation 12:7-9). We are on earth because we chose to follow Heavenly Father’s plan. One significant purpose of mortality is to gain a physical body. On earth we can have joy and peace, but we will also face temptation, opposition, and adversity and experience trials. Earthly trials are part of mortality and can help us grow to be more like our Heavenly Father. Essential to the plan is the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Jesus overcame spiritual and physical death and took upon Himself our afflictions, sorrows, and sins (see Alma 7:11-13). This suffering, death, and Resurrection is referred to as the Atonement. The Atonement was necessary since “no unclean thing can dwell with God” (1 Nephi 10:21). It is through Christ’s sacrifice that we can repent and live with God again. Also essential to God’s plan is agency, or the ability to choose. When we choose to repent of our sins, we choose to accept the gift of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. If we exercise our agency to keep the commandments, we have the blessing of participating in sacred ordinances, which are ceremonies that include making covenants or promises with God. These ordinances include baptism, confirmation, priesthood ordination for men, and temple ordinances. Part of our Heavenly Father’s plan is that someday we will all die. Death is the separation of the spirit and the physical body. Our spirit, which existed in the premortal life, will live on after our death. If we lived righteously-repenting as needed-to the end of our mortal life, we will enter spirit paradise. The Book of Mormon prophet Alma described this as “a state of rest, a state of peace” (Alma 40:12). Because of Christ’s Atonement, all of God’s children will be resurrected and our bodies and spirits will be reunited (see 1 Corinthians 15:20-22; Doctrine and Covenants 88:14-17). Resurrection will be followed by the Final Judgment, where God will judge us according to our desires and our obedience to the commandments (see 2 Nephi 9:15-17; Doctrine and Covenants 137:9). If we have qualified through repentance, we will be able to live forever with our loving Heavenly Parents (see Alma 40; 41; Doctrine and Covenants 76).
Yeah, I know right... There is a different energy to it, in Halloween in spite of all the monsters there is some joy in the air, some different vibe in the air, the streets aren't that scary at all...
But Xmas, is different it feels like there is only the own interior light of the people celebrating, to enlighten the season everything else is in the dark, the streets are dark, the vibe is more depressing, eerie and downright scary... Even Santa sometimes feels like Satan has put a long beard and walks among the earth doing who knows what... And then, you have January, where the faint light that existed in Xmas extinguishes and what remains is that darkness, eerieness that existed in streets and has finally invaded our homes.

I'm alone for the first time in a long time. I'm not going to lie. Feels empty inside. It's not normal for me to not be with loved ones during this time. Then I think why do we celebrate Xmas anyways and I feel much better.
@@polarbearfitness2735 Just spend quality time with your mom. This is my third Christmas without mine. I lost my entire family within one year. My last living uncle first, then while my grandmother was in the hospital with congestive heart failure my mother got sick and it ended up being stage 4 cancer and I stayed in the hospital 24/7 for almost a year so they wouldn’t be alone. Now I’m in the hospital with a close friend who is getting double bypass heart surgery. Been here for a week with him already but I refuse to let anyone I care about be in a hospital alone.
I've never experienced a family member being murdered. But my family went through the death of my 4 month old nephew. My sister and I are 1 year and 1 month apart super close so it was like my own child dieing. Absolutely the hardest thing I've ever been through in my life and it happened right after 9/11. Always be thankful for what u have and who u have in your life things can change at any point in time.

I totally understand I have seen and heard so many crazy true crime stories. But it always makes me appreciate what I have in my life. And that's not saying that I haven't gone through a lot of traumatic events and had to overcome some things I never thought I would go through. But when it comes to mothers hurting their own children I have a really hard time watching that stuff. I definitely prefer cryptid and paranormal stories!

It’s incredibly suspicious that investigators somehow managed to miss the body of the husband even tho the other girl’s parents managed to find him right away upon entering the home. Either the cops are involved, or it’s another case of hiring from the extreme bottom of the barrel.
In my family, we have 6 birthdays during holiday season. 3 inside 2 weeks of Christmas. However, for 8 years straight, we had a relative pass away during the holidays. Then a year with no one passing. The 2 years after that one, we had more deaths. So, holidays aren't exactly my family's favorite time of year. And we now have a saying, in our family you're either born during the holidays or die during the holidays. I was born in June, so yea, got that to look forward to.

My next door neighbors husband past away last Christmas season. It’s still very hard for her to cope but she’s got her adult children who are very close bonded to her and help her when she needs them. Her husband was a good man. He is very much missed around here. She’s got us as very good neighbors too.

I have so many good memories of. Christmas as a kid and they all involve my grandpa. He wound up dying from emphysema around Christmas when I was 14. I still miss him every day.
