Eurovision Cyprus 1999 Backstage + Dress Rehearsal

TV footage from a Cypriot TV Show, dedicated to the 1999 Eurovision song Contest in Jerusalem, Israel. Backstage and info on the ESC week, including Marlain Angelidou, who represented the country. Also, the dress rehearsal clip of the song "Tha'nai erotas", moments before the contest.

This had everything go wrong at the last moment
1. Being the Greek version (mother tounge sure, but as Ireland's then-recent streak showed, songs in English are an advantage)
2. The staging in Jerusalem being weird
3. Being sandwiched in between All Out Of Luck and Take Me To Your Heaven
4. The early bit making the end montage

I wasn't born that time yet but we all thought we were going to win, especially with Greek diaspora voting for us too, and when we only got 2 points, on TV everyone was trying. After that year, Cyprus never did well for a long time except for few stand-outs (Lisa Andreas etc.) so most of us supported Greece instead... even our artists wanted to go for Greece

@@eliasdismamisan5464 Nah... I think this year was just a fluke... We loved the Cypriot song, but the truth is she did made some vocal miss haps that tripped her on her way through with the judges... If I was sad she failed... yes... if I'm surprised... no

Πιστεψαμε οτι για μια φορα θα κερδιζαμε.Το τραγουδι ειχε προοπτικες αλλα η καταστροφικη εμφανιση του τελικου το αδικησε.Κριμα ειλικρινα.
