    This is the best earthship I've seen, and you did a great job showing it (I wanted to see the fish though :) I LOVE the idea of the inner greenhouse, the fish pond and chickens. I wonder if one could actually grow all his food if need be. This is the part that has always concerned me, since it seems most people are just playing around with plants more for ornament. When the time comes to lie down and die, a beautiful, natural, peaceful place like this would be where I would want to do it.

    • @thejordans7028
      @thejordans7028  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes, there was some big timber beams used in this, but compared to conventional building there was way less material used, and the logs were not cut to square lumber so not as much waste. Maybe they have something different that can be used currently instead of the log beams but I don't know. The house shines in the watse reusing, water collection and use, and the atmosphere and plants. Truly not like any other house I have been in apart from other earthships.

    7:04 Very beautiful combination of coziness and green lushness in this very natural bedroom. It seems very pleasant. I live in a typical and impersonal standard concrete apartment (as almost anyone else in this modern world) so I must confess that I envy you very much.
    8:13 Just when I thought I had seen the best of the house, then appears the incredible living room with extra more lushness and still more beauty. You also have some knowledge about the elements...here it only remains a good library to complete the dream...but a green dream, of course. Anyway, I don't think (unfortunately) that this kind of house could like posh people. The worst for them!

They know about codes and how to work with governments to get things done. You could use them as a contract source for info, or how the team of interns to come build your earthship at your location. I love earthships and hope to build my own someday, but this floorplan seems terrible. Do guests really need to walk through the master bedroom and bathroom to get to the living room? Is there another entrance that I am missing? Regardless I'm not sure I would want to walk through my bathroom every time I wanted to go into the kitchen, lol

    • @thejordans7028
      @thejordans7028  Před 3 lety +2

      On the phoenix, you can enter through the green house and there is a second rental unit on the west. Not as big as what was in the video but there are 4 total entrances. Two from the house to the greenhouse, and one one each side.

    • @cairrean2412
      @cairrean2412 Před 2 lety

      If you look at roughly 2:28 when the camera pans over the trees in the first little greenhouse area just before the master bedroom, there's a walkway that goes around the bathroom wall, probably leads into the next area so you can get to the kitchen without going through the second bedroom.

      On the Phoenix, I don't remember there being a washer and dryer. It may have been in the back room that wasn't finished, but on the other side. It was originally built as one unit and then was split into two for rental purposes. So it may have just been over there. We stayed at a second earthship and that one had a laundry room.

    Would LOVE to do this on my 3 acres in South Australia but as of yet there is only 1 Earthship built here in SA & it cost nearly $200,000 to build (it's only 1/4 of the size of this) & the council's here are a PAIN to deal with & could potentially tie you up for years in red tape, so, unfortunately this is SOOoooo out of our budget yes I know it will outlast anything commercially made but at 67 when we retire we will only have limited funds to do this, so sad.

      Here, in this case, you would be purchasing a piece of history. Depending on the cost of land, to build this home would be a mere fraction of the selling price of this. That is, in fact, one of the entire purposes behind ‘earthships’, to create financial stability as well as environmental sustainability. To build an earth-ship is labor intensive while using entirely cheap recyclable materials.
