- We loved renting this place for a couple days. The one we build in Canada will definitely incorporate some elements of this design - while aligning as closely as possible with the efficiency and simplicity of the Global Model. (pardon the Celsius/Fahrenheit flip in the narration)
At 67 years old ..I am ready for the adventure of my life !Never owned a home but I can see hope for doing just that in this and Garbage Warrior ,Mike Reynolds ! Dear God , Help us to leave the destructive methods of life behind and embrace this ASAP ! I have to do this before I leave this earth !
+James Oliver
You can do it, James!
+James Oliver I think that I cant is not in the dictionary. You live in a land where garbage ' grows on trees' so that the only thing you are going to need is the solar and wind energy equipment bought, everything else you can build with recyclables! So do not think it Is not doable. Go get it tiger!!!
James Oliver
I agree with you James. I am 64 andI pray that I can disconnect and live in an Earthship home. Hoping your prayers are answered.
I don’t think I could afford an earthship but am putting as much of eco friendly things I can in my old Victorian house like solar! Every little helps.
I really like the indoor plant bed. That is an amazing design element that I would never have thought of.
this video is pure serotonin and comfort for me. so serene and joyful
I'm only a college student and therefore have a LONG way to go before I can imagine buying my house/building my home, but I desperately want to have an earthship as my home. I couldn't imagine raising my future kids in a futuristic environment. This feels like it would take me back to my roots. Love the light, plants and different levels. That bathroom is to die for as well.
Thanks for the tour!
Great way to live! I love your planters & the emphasis you put on having plants around you (good vibes)
Wow! That is a beautiful house, who knew eco-sustainable living could be so comfortable, homey and cool!
Mark Kennedy Thank you Mark for adding me back I appreciate it :-)
Happy to be "internet friends" with you Diannah! You can never have too many right?! :)
Mark Kennedy That's right Mark, nice meeting you :-)
Nice meeting you also! :D
I am the one and only friend you are allowed to have!
Amazing house. The plants all over the place, the lightening, you guys are lucky.
Absolutely beautiful, and the best looking Earthship I've ever seen. Just love it. Thank you!! That tub, those bottles, the wrap-around greenhouse. The gardens in every room. I just love it all!
This is absolutely amazing, I love your tour and am grateful you posted. So much inspiration and care, it's a beautiful thing! Bravo for adding your voices and support to the progress.
+SuperWahinetoa I'm very happy you like the vid. Thanks for your comments.
Really nicely done earthship, love the artistic details and disbursement of levels.
This is going to continue to be the future. This is so awesome!
I really like this one. I got a warm, fuzzy glow thinking about being there!
Очень милая девушка с очаровательной улыбкой! Хороший у вас дом! Браво!!!
1:23 That is NOT aloe vera. It is a poisonous houseplant called mother in law's tongue. Just thought that you should know.
Monkey Mind I wouldn’t want my mother in law‘s tongue in my bedroom at night.
Thanks for this excellent tour!
Great video & thank you for sharing this. Now I want to live in one ✌🏽💓
that plant in the corner next to the banana tree is the Snake Plant. its a very good plant to have indoors. Its known to purify the air in the room. yep!!! good stuff
Great video! This is one of the best Earthship tour videos I have seen! I applaud your excellent video skills!
I'm loving this idea & hope to build on of these here in BC. Excellent vid! Thanks for the tour!
She's Beautiful and You are a Blessed Man! Thanks for posting your video!! My wife and I are getting ready to build an Earthship Biotecture home north of Reno-Sparks, Nevada off of Pyramid Highway in the mountains!
Great little tour, thanks!
Hi Gratidude, I wish you had panned up when you showed your wife waving in the doorway, and as you were leaving the bedroom. The bottle work up at the ceiling is amazing!
Thank you for his nice video.
Such soft spoken and seemingly gentle personalities. Subscribing and hoping this channel turns into a build log.
Beautiful and Amazing!
love all that green
That is a awesome Earthship design.
Hello! I am the owner of the Corner Cottage, and I just found this on youtube and am trying to view it, having trouble loading it. I love that my house is being showcased as a great example of earthship homes! It is again on the nightly rental market, listed on airbnb.com. This house is amazing, and so well built it doesn't need a fireplace or wood burning stove to stay comfy all winter. I would live there full time if it was located somewhere else!
Can you post the airbnb link for it? I can't find it and would love to stay here!
Hello Deborah! You have a lovely home! I would love to ask you a few questions regarding this beautiful earthship if you would be so kind to send me a message. Or you can email me at crashmarlee88@gmail.com
You speak so smoothly that this video could be recalled as an ASMR earthship tour...
very cool and I love that stained glass!
The greenhouse is facing south, the light and plants give the house such a cozy feel, I really love it! I wonder if the indoor planters have enough light for growing vegetables...
No reason some of the planter space wouldn't accommodate vegies I think.
Yes, there is enough light to grow veggies inside. The reason there are mostly ornamental plants there now is because I (the owner) live in CA.
@@deborahcowden3460 NICE house!
@deborahcowden3460 how do I rent your earthship please?
I am really inspired by this, my boyfriend went for a workshop last week and I happened to visit him. I had too many questions in my head but honestly, I was impressed. Maybe one day we will build one for our selves. Fingers crossed.
you need an avacado, and Cheramoya trees. How lovely you home is.
That's awesome! Thanks for the information!
I seen this years ago! And have been trying to find it ever since!
I enjoyed that women’s smile seemed very genuine
Beautiful!! :))
We are looking at building one in Southern Ontario (near Niagara). I've not done much research yet into how easy the planning permission will be. Great video - we are looking at renting this one later this year for research.
Piękny dom.Beauteful nim.
so beautiful :) i think i will start looking for a nice location to build my own
It typically depends on the municipality and the "planner". In most cases, as long as there is a septic system (which the new Earthship models have) and an architect and engineer has signed-off on the plans, anyone can build one of these anywhere in Canada as far as we know. It's seems a bit nanny-bureaucratic, but the idea (as far as I can understand it) is to ensure people are building and living in dwellings deemed safe. Hope that helps.
The narration is very Bob Ross, he didn't say things like happy little trees but he was close
+simming
I'll have to learn who Bob Ross is.
+EarthShiftGratiDude He had this way of narrating that was half whispering and consistently pleasant
@@EarthShiftGratiDude Bob Ross was a quietly spoken artist on tv in the 70's i think recently passed away. I remember his mad afro and denim, the eternal hippy.
great house... I really wish you had MORE MORE MORE, footage.. Lol... showing the ceiling in detail... and a tour around the outside.. I am so very interested in earthships design ideas... and I have to say that this house is one of the best i've seen so far... I wonder how old it is?? you can see the designs evolving every time another one is built
Hi. This video is a walk-through of an Earthship in New Mexico. We will be building something similar - next summer, not this summer past. There is an Earthship near Ottawa now... not sure the name, but if you search CZcams for "earthship pineapple " you'll see it. Good luck!
That "aloe" is called Mother-in-laws tongue(Sansevieria trifasciata).
"Hi Catherine in the kitchen"
IF I MAY - you can have blinds on the glass - for the very hot days.
your voice is pretty calming
Amazing
The low key bedroom voice was very outputting
Hi, very good video and beautiful house ;) I´m not a speaking english person then please sorry my poor english, I have a question: How do you ventilate the rooms? How do you refresh the air? Thank you.
Love it
J adore votre maison , c est magnifique avec une belle surface
Merci, Sam.
Where in Canada are you hoping to build?
Thanks! I hope to post some better ones of us building our own.
loved the backsplash as well. It's a shame you didn't show that.
This is one of the best Earthship videos I have seen out there, thank you. Will this design work (keep cool) in the tropical heat of south Florida? Also are there any type of specific tires that need to be used for building? Is there any concern out there over things like oils, that tires can produce over time? Thank you for your help.
+thewhitewolf This is my question too, I want to move to Florida and build an earthship to live in..I wonder how much it would cost
I wouldn't mind living in one of these the green house would help in dealing with seasonal depression syndrome which I sometimes get.
+Patchuchan You could do a room inside the building with added lighting and plants to add to the natural amount of hours of sun you might miss out on during winter. DC LED lights are quickly dropping in price and become more and more available. That's what I have planned for mine.
Amazing video! Very well done! Thank you for sharing this. It has my husband's and my mind spinning! I'm taking plenty of notes on what we'd like to do to build our own. One change I might make is instead of having hoses I might prefer a hand pump there with a well of some kind that carries the water to the plants. Do you know if that is technically possible? I don't love the look of the hoses, but love the function of the food and plants right there.
+Brandolyn Fuller I dont think they need to water the plants with hoses since the greywater system waters them from below.
+Brandolyn Fuller Hi Brandon. I am the owner of the Corner Cottage, and I can answer your water question. The water from the sinks and shower is routed to the planter areas inside the house, and in the greenhouse. The plants are watered from below, and the roots and soil help filter and trest the water before sending it to the toilet. The hoses are for watering the plants with shallow roots when not enough water has been run through the sinks and shower to get water to the surface plants.
I don't know why the name David May came up...I am Deborah Cowden
The whispering is very dramatic!
the whispering is affected and silly
So beautiful and tranquil. What if you get ants. Lots of earth moisture with plants gets Ants. Will there be a problem with them?
"Some kind of aloe vera over there" 😅 Uhhh, ya mean Sansevieria?
Hey Lolly. I've been told that plant is called "mother in laws tongue". Be well.
Wow, I can see myself living in this type of home. Its looked great and comfy. How much will it cost to build one do you mind?
+Shtf WestCoast Prepper
Hello Mr. Prepper (love the name). It was very comfy. The cost to build these babies, as I understand it, is roughly the same per square foot as a conventional home... however, if you do most of the labour yourself (and with the plethora of volunteers who are keen to help with such a project) you can get the cost to less than half. Constructing the main wall with the thermal mass takes the majority of person-power. Good luck with your prep work... and if you decide to build.
Awesome
Hey Hi Hello I'm wondering where can you find the information regarding the new earthship models? All I can seem to find are walkarounds I havent stumbled across the grand daddy website just yet :(
are you jeff goldblum?
LOL!
Was thinking this the whole way through too 😂
I would so grow pleasantly fragrant orchids there.
Ooooh, that would be so amazing!
The most incredible part of these is the immense difference between outside and inside temperature... -3 vs 60 inside? Say goodbye to air conditioning
Wow, I wish I could afford to have earthship house...
Is this earthship in Taos, NM as part of the earthship biotecture? Couldn't find it on Airbnb.
Hi Kimmy. I don't know if it's on AirBnB or not. Yes, the Corner Cottage it is in Taos, in the Greater World Community, adjacent to the Phoenix. If you connect with the Earthship Biotecture office, I'm confident they could help you with rental information, if they still rent it. Hope that helps.
Hi. Yes we will be posting our building experiences. The build was put on hold until next summer - we'd purchased land but then figured it was too far away from 'humanity' so are now looking for something closer. We'll definitely be documenting and posting more vids. Thanks for your communication, now and in the future.
What was the square footage of this Earthship?
How is your own build coming along? You fellas really have the personas to produce awesome videos.
+Rhyle
Thanks for your comments. Regarding our own build: we have yet to start. We're focusing for now on food production, Permaculture style. Hope to have some more vids uploaded as we prepare for our summer of growing. Be well.
Now I have all the more reason to be eager about more videos from you! I'm planning my build to be as close to 50/50 greenhouse and living space as I can get. I would probably "wrap" the outside with hügelbed walls instead of fencing, leading to a forest garden. It's a shame there isn't much of that going on in any of the builds I've seen so far. Self-reliant house, self-reliant garden.
MY DREAM HOUSE
want to build one in the hills of montana
Hey guys, can you build this anywhere in Canada. I heard it meets building codes but I'm not too sure if it is okay in all of Canada.
I have a 40 acre desert parcel in Central Oregon I was thinking about putting one of these there. Do you know where to get blueprints? Thanks
Find the company Biotecture.

I want to make a Earhship in Turkey who can I get help from ? How can I make this possible ?
Would something like this do well in Manitoba? Something to plan and save up for I just stumbled upon this concept tonight through a friend and this concept is my dream come true
In cold weather climates you would be better off with a cordwood house, better insulation.
i want to live there
Thats a nice structure.I wish there was a habitable planet to put it on.
I love it! ;-)
Windows need a clean :) I want to move to Canada from England in a few years, how much would one of these cost there as you are looking to build one?
I believe the cost is about on par with building a conventional home - if you hire the Earthship Biotecture crew to do it for you. Alternatively, you can purchase plans from them and build one yourself (with help from friends pounding the tires). Hope it helps.
Hey there! You say you are planning on building an Earthship Global model in Canada. I am in the concept phase of putting together an Earthship of my own right now. I would like to chat with you about the construction regulations if you wouldn't mind.
Of course! Here is my email; douglaswchick@hotmailcom
I look forward to sharing information.
May I ask how much the total cost of building your Earthship was? I'm hoping to build one in the next few years in Central New-Brunswick, Canada.
+kmsinclaire
Hello KM. We didn't actually build the Earthship in the video; we just rented it to see for ourselves if they were as functional as they seemed to be on other videos we'd watched. Since renting this one in the fall of 2012, we attended the Earthship Biotecture Academy in New Mexico, during which we did build a "Global Model" with 30ish other Academy attendees.
I believe the cost to build ranges a bit depending on how much of the labour you do yourself (or arrange volunteers to help). If you can arrange and hire Mike Reynolds' crew, the cost is approximately $200 per square foot... but that may have changed since 2013.
Hope that's helpful. Good luck with your build if you do go that route!
The Corner Cottage is back online! You can see our listing at airbnb.com/rooms/4735088
круто!
Wow
nice
I cannot understand the narrow sun halls in these designs. ... I would want my sun or solar hall 4 or 5 times deeper than that to allow for fruit trees, melon patches, all the vegetables I need. .. THAT would be a Paradise.
I'm in Niagara and am also interested in owning one of these. Will you be posting your experiences? I'd love to stay in touch. Katlorell
We are the tires?
This earthship is way too bourgeoisie, IMO. My fiance and I are planning on building one, I kind of get peeved watching these people who rent these super fancy earthships brag about them. I don't know, just my personal opinion, the best part of living off-grid is building your own home, not hiring a crew of contractors to do it for you. But hey, what do I know?
Well maybe if you have the money AND the eco vibe BUT if you are not very skilled at building things it is a solution! I'd say why not? Everybody's different, with diverse abilities of course and age could be a pblm I guess?! You don't have to be so judgmental...
@@BritaPurvisStorseth Exactly! An earthship should look like a shack!!! Somehow that is more holy and right!!!
I wonder about all the planter dirt in the greenhouse. Dirt is not as good thermal mass as concrete or water.
You need to try more sativa strains
The chef is called Vera?
I am not sure how this would work in the Great Lakes area. I'm not sure the frost layer is deeper. Things might need to be changed for it to work in the Great Lakes area.
There are many Earthships in Canada AFAIK. Adjusting to colder climates just means digging or insulating more.
Did you build in canada yet?
+Kevin Ste-Marie
Hi Kevin. We have yet to build an Earthship... but we have moved to a homestead and are currently wetting our feet in Permaculture/sustainability practices. The off-grid build is still our vision, however. We'll be sure to update. Thanks for connecting.
Where is this?
New Mexico, just outside Taos
How will you keep your banana tree from pushing your roof off ?? ... do you prune in back low ?? ... will it produce bananas ??
Hi Dan. Pruning (crowning) the tree certainly keeps it manageable. Yes, the trees do fruit in an earthship.
@@EarthShiftGratiDude ... thanks for the response , Bananas are good I like to eat them , be neat to pick them off your own tree ... years ago I learned that to eat a fresh Banana you have to cure them first , before that I didn't know they are hard like chalk when fresh green ... also learned how the grocery store industry cures them in a pressure chamber injected with crossbones chemical vapors ... I found a couple apples cut in half put into a plastic bag with say 40 lbs. of green bananas works fine , although a slower process ... I think it's methane (CH4) that is given off from the decomposing apples that helps cure the green Bananas ... I have a joke , "a green Banana can be used as a club in a last resort" , lol , maybe not so funny but I tried ... thanks again for response ...
Let's see some aquaponics
I love how many rooms have planter boxes in them and more windows instead of dark walls behind them.brings to mind a vacation rental feel lol
I wonder where Kathrine went oh there's Kathrine Steno (sorry if i misspelled that)
