- J Ryan (along with his wife, Nicole) are the two minds who created the Good Vibes Breakfast Club, a car meet that happens at the top of Angeles Crest Highway every Friday morning. They started going up there during Covid to get away and others began to join them. It's grown to be one of the most respected car gatherings in Southern California.
Closed for many years, Newcomb's Ranch (a restaurant and lodge), has been for sale for a long time. Over the years the price has dropped and J Ryan and Nicole - with the help of some well-heeled friends- is going to become it's new owner and care taker. And boy do they have exciting plans.

I wish J and his wife the best.
Thank you. Much appreciation 🙏❤️✨
We love J!!! Let he and his wife set an example for the future of Willow Springs. There's pleeeenty of money and cars in Southern California to take this over.
It's about time somebody bought Newcomb's.
So happy to hear that Newcomb’s will be opening back up! This is great for the car enthusiast community 🙌🏽
Love J Ryan. Just one of the nicest guys ever.
6:45 that line was GOLD Zack!
Matt is so oddly serious sometimes like he's trying to win an invisible argument. Lighten up man lol
Agree. It’s like you never know what random innocuous comment might set him off. Bro is living the dream. Chill.
He has trigger words that set him off like a certified Californian lol
@@Grundle_ItcH085 Tesla would be high on that list lol
@@Koala-ey Tesla is personal for Matt, Musk canned his wife lol, I think that was the tipping point 🤣
His humour engine only works after a ten minute idle, and a clear use of indicators
Very informative show. I loved the explanation of how a property's price drives the type of development for Newcomb's Ranch. Some of the best Willow Springs talk as well.
My local CVS pharmacy does still sell car magazines
DUDE!! It was hard to find. I looked multiple places. Finally my third Barnes & Noble had 3 left.
I've been waiting for this one! J Ryan is the best. GVBC Crew.
If anyone is curious it looks like the watches sold out a week ago
pls add like w/ J Ryan from Good Vibes (or somethin like that)
add guests to the title pls and thx
I can appreciate that J and Nicole are very busy with way more important things. But - I'm curious... Is there any plans for future Late Night Playset videos?
Yes! But it’ll likely become something else once we have a studio audience up @ Newcomb’s Ranch 🎙️❤️🌲
@@latenightplayset That's great news. I really enjoyed watching. Sometimes I would treat it as a podcast while at work. I hope good comes your way. Love to you and Nicole from Wisconsin.
@@justinschultz4325 thank you so much! 🙏❤️😉
You guys can pay the mortgage by auctioning the tow concession for British Car days 🇬🇧
Once saw a bumper sticker on an MG, “the parts falling off this car are of the highest quality British manufacturing”
Another Thursday, another great episode to help me through my work day.

04:21 - Pahrump, sleeping on hotel bedroom floors, and Bunny Ranch Google reviews
14:48 - “anyway” - a sagging shelf and old buildings in LA and elsewhere
20:16 - J Ryan is buying Newcomb’s Ranch
27:05 - does J have second thoughts about the publicity around his “unofficial” meet at this now-closed business?
29:47 - the success of Caffeine and Machine and Deals Gap, and potential future business plans for Newcomb’s
38:00 - does J know lead time to open doors? And how much will change?
42:28 - the amount of work required and Matt thinking that he could be the one to buy it
46:48 - J Ryan’s tipping point for getting involved in purchasing Newcomb’s
49:17 - does J think that it’s more likely for plows and the like to pay more attention if there’s an operating business there?
51:48 - J leaves to make a quick pit stop and Matt dunks on his drink, and Lucid Sapphire dropped off earlier
54:54 - has J gotten to the point of working out food logistics?
56:24 - the viability of having themed days and open days
1:01:30 - potential helicopter ride and seeing some workers hanging from one in Big Tujunga area, and janky infrastructure
1:03:25 - J has a question for Matt: what about the sale of Willow Springs?
Patreon questions:
1:12:52 - what was your opinion of John Mulaney’s Everybody’s in LA as residents of LA?
1:13:49 - if Good Vibes [the car meet] had a music playlist what would be on it?
1:14:40 - lost my Audi SQ5 in an accident and no longer have a comfy long-haul car anymore and want to replace it with an ‘80s/‘90s cruiser; something with style and class, $50-100k, reliable for long trips after being sorted, room for two
1:19:32 - with Geely owning Lotus, do you think other Geely products will get the “Lotus touch” in the future?

1:45:32 - “here’s to your seven caffeinated beverages” - show outro
Thanks
"Big Willow sucks?" "Easy track to drive?" (Thanks for the shout-out, J!) I hope one day I can get some pancakes at Newcomb's Ranch soon!
Yes please! 👏❤️🌲
In the best possible way, that felt like a crew show with one more member than usual.
I've never been to Cali, but I do hope Newcomb's gets a new lease on life and that I can visit it some day!
All the best to Nicole and J.
For the gr86 guy, I wonder if Crosstrek/forester suspension fit. Many Subaru parts fit across the line relatively easily.
15:23 Or... buy Rich Rebuilds' book, that'll level the shelf just right.
Donnie update. He has 2.5 years and is facing 9.5 as they work thru his case. So taking possession of a person's car (lean) for unpaid work only works if you are a business. Over the past months Donnie's mother was asking people who had cars on site to pay $100,000 upfront and get $15,000 discount with Trevor his assistant. However not being a registered business means they have no legal right to charge you. It's like you having your car at my house, it's your car so someone asking for money holds no legal weight as only a tax paying professional registered in the state has that option. The problem Donnie has is he was not a business with an angry customer who did not pay, he pretended to be a professional and hence the $400,000 bail and seizure of his accounts and the ongoing layers of State pressure and tax etc
The Ferrari chat on this is not great, Matt seems to be a pariah for alot of the anger over Donnie for many as they saw him legitimising a shady person's actions under the umbrella of his podcast, like Joe Rogan and some of his friends who are doing shady stuff. Matt also had the EAG manual swap fiasco as extra fuel to the anger of the Ferrari people. There they also go into Donnie's history with them and be warned, like Epstein this goes back 30 years and this formula of taking a car to pieces, parking 15 cars in front of it and charging extortionate prices at each step seems to have required 14 other victims too. Some just paid, others didn't. Hence the anger. The 328 being sold might have been a way to distance himself from this.
Yikes. Big if true.
From what I understand, as there have been people going to the court hearings in AZ Donnie's lawyer is bargaining to find a compromise to 18 months, Donnie's problem is that he doesn't have $1.4mil and the hanger is rented from the State. The prosecution argues he is not the owner of the parts or cars he owns either. They want his sentence reduced if they can get the guy in Belgium with 4 cars happy as he doesn't have assets of that value or the ability to earn it legally, then they may compromise knowing it's an empty hole, but tie it to conditions. Donnie's problem is that when he meant they had a "Sting operation", the State has 3 separate areas they have a solid case in, plus the state of CA waiting, not a loophole Mr Ticket can get you out of.
@@fraserwright9482Matt absolutely sold that Ferrari to bail on this Donnie situation
@@fraserwright9482 I'd love to hear how Matt was somehow able to go to Donnie's place and get possession of his disassembled Countach while Donnie's in jail, and the business is supposedly legally locked down.
Ya know, there once was a man from Ghent.
Gent
Did someone say Gwent?
It's like CVS store/ pharmacy
Accidentally clicked the thumbs down so my bad!
J's sice a nice guy! Met him last year at Newcombs when i took my A3 canyon carving! Glad the restaurant revival is underway
So excited for this!
Matt is the Skip Bayless of the auto world….. you hate to love him yet you love to hate him 🤣🤣🤣

Hey folks - quick quip in here again from the audio tech guy: The static\background electronic noise of the microphones is getting worse. Feels like some sort of electrical interference on the signal cables or the audio interface. Did you perhaps change how the audio interface was powered by reorganizing wires or something?
I went thru the back catalogue, it's been going on for a while, but if you go back to TST 797 the audio gets clean again.
@Ryan 1:15:00 - you may be interested in one of the worlds nicest LS430's. Maybe a LS400, depending on your preference... They are a bit below your budget (you can get an AMAZING 400 for 20k, or an amazing 430 for 30k) if you view that sort of car as having style and class. I would.

I love The Smoking Tire podcast and it’s probably the one that I have learned the most from and enjoyed the most of all of them out there. Matt seems to live and die by SEO, making goofy thumbnail faces, playing to audiences that other creators have and wonders why he’s not getting the numbers he should. The one thing that everybody really loved from this channel they stopped doing. They don’t have to be The straight pipes or throttle house, just bring back the one takes!
Too much of trying everyone else’s thing instead of just making the content that made them most successful.
Hes said it before but He had to change because just doing plain one takes was not doing enough for the channel numbers.
It's cause he's kinda a dbag 😊
Doing something to LOSE money is what you have to think about. LOSE MONEY DOING VIDEOS.
@@fatabe1 I’m not saying only do One Takes, just sprinkle them in once a week or maybe every other week. That’s the one thing that differentiated their channel from everyone else’s and Matt was great at it.
3:23 whist there is EMI noise
Stop using iPhones !!!!
Sketchy people wear Breitlings. Matt, so on point. LOL! Real people wear Omega or JLC. It is known.
