    It doesn't actually say primer on it.
    But if you look on it. It says primer.

    Repdan1 It will depend on several factors. First of all the type of metal that the cover is made out of and secondly whether or not the engine paint has held up well. The parts of the cover where the engine paint has stayed on well will be more shiny than the parts of the cover that have been exposed to the elements without the protection of the engine paint.

    Great series. I have had a 1972 350 since I was 13. It has just been sitting since. Finally started the restoration about a month ago. Any tips on where to find original parts? I have been having a hard time. Most of what I find is for the 4 cylinder. Thanks for any help.

    would you recommend to paint the left and the right engine covers? I had a gas leak and it's damaged the paint on my left cover.. i'm thinking of repainting it. The right one's fine though. I'm just thinking in terms of paint matching..

    Why didn't you remove the timing cover from the engine case ? The next time you need to remove this cover it will be stuck to the casing and spoil the otherwise perfect finish when you remove it.

    Old video,but I just found it.
    If you like the look of the bare aluminum ,look at "Eastwood"
    Products they have alot of coatings that will protect ,raw aluminum finish.
    Also this author ,should release the nozzle at every pass.
    Spray stroke, release , spray stroke release......you do the same painting a car with a spray gun.
    Don't just hold the nozzle ,continuosly .
    How ,anybody ,finds the time, to record ,edit, upload...then take the flood of comments, is like becoming the President ,a very thankless job. Good beginner video, good job.

    I would put a little bit thinner layers and more of them, specially the first one, the very first one should barely be noticeable, then add two more as it has completely dried. Thats atleast how we paint heavy duty on ships, but that is on a steel surface ofcause so maybe this is different?

    • @mmdirtyworkz
      @mmdirtyworkz Před 8 lety +2

      +SportSoulLife It is always better to do it like you guys do, more thinner layers. Doesn't matter what is the surface, better paint quality at the end. It takes more time so people who do it for $ will look for a quicker way to get more work done.

    Idk why but it always bugs me when people paint the screws in a side cover. I like them to be shiny and it only takes 5 minutes to throw a buffing wheel on and polish them. Plus the paint would get trashed by a screw driver the first time you use it.

    next time. The first layer should not cover the surface fully, only partially, doing this you are creating a adhesive surface that the 2nd and 3rd layer will have a better surface to bond to. ;)

  • @NathTHFC1234
    @NathTHFC1234 Před 7 lety

    You should be using etch primer on bare metal surfaces, it bonds to the metal better than generic 'primers'. Plus you should do more than one coat and then wet sand untill smooth, clean and then basecoat and clear coat after, which you didn't show
