My mother and father were both from Louisiana and looking at that Buffalo fish reminded me so much of my now deceased parents, every Friday momma would fry daddy’s buffalo fish along with smothered potatoes. You are so blessed to have your mother still with you. God bless the both of you.

You bought back so many memories for me here in South Mississippi…catfish, perch, & buffalo! I hated buffalo because I thought one of those tiny bones was gonna end my life. My grandmother kept balling up bread and making me eat it to push the bone down.😂 My kids love picking out bones. Just give me the perch sandwich and a crispy bones of the catfish and it Friday Fish Day! Thank you for great content, recipes, and memories!

I couldn't eat it without someone picking the bones out until like 12 or 13 yrs old🤣😂 Chef Jeffrey I drive over an hr to a fish market that sells fresh Buffalo fish when I get the taste for it! The market has existed since I was a child, thank you for this memory this morning. Good times❤

We didn't know anything about any fish mix but we had corn meal. We scored them and dropped them in that hot grease. Hot sauce and onions out of the garden. Mom gave my sisters the rib parts. Some people only took the rib parts and threw away the rest. Commercial fish amen only sale the ribs very high 💯💯💯💯👍🏽

Buffalo is my favorite fish. My Grandfather had a cabin on the Lake of the Ozarks. He would get into his fishing boat and set a trot line up with some milk jugs and thick twine of some sort. The hooks were on a string 18” (?) or so below the line. He would catch these huge, huge buffalo fish. They had ribs that were huge and yes there were still bones in them that you had to watch out for, but I don’t remember them being a huge problem. My Grandmother (sweet like your Mom) would fry them up. We would have fresh corn on the cob, cold slaw and homemade cornbread. How wonderful those times were. I miss the lake, the fish, swimming and of course my family that is gone now. Thank you for the video and bringing back such fond memories.

I have never eaten any. Where I live never heard of it.It really does look good. I would like some Coleslaw and hushpuppies to go along.

Yay! So glad you did the Buffalo! Don’t kill yourself with them bones tho 😂😂My grandma used to make us smash the fish with our fingers to make sure we get the bones out and we still had to ball up some bred to swallow bones that made it through the smashing😂 But it taste so good!

My grandmother lives some "Big Bone Buffalo" fish. We have a fish market that catches them right out of the lake and will cut it however you want it.

Yes! Happy Fish Friday Chef Jeff..
I'm from rural West Tennessee and the only fish I eat is Catfish Whiting and Buffalo..
Grew up on it and it's the best fish let me tell it. But my dad and Granny swore by brim😉 and perch!!
    This video made my day..
