    Pro Tip - Mixing oil with butter doesn’t change the smoking point of butter. That’s a myth. Simply cook at high temp with oil, then add butter towards the end for flavor at a lower temp, same as you would when searing and cooking a steak.

    • @TheUrbanHunter.
      @TheUrbanHunter.  Před měsícem +2

      I hear you on the science that butters burning point can’t be difference. If you do it in practice you can tell that it does have an effect on it. I’m not sure if the oil is a barrier between the hot pan or not, but the butter definately doesn’t burn as easy. My chef taught me that trick years ago.

    Mixing butter and oil does not change the burn point. That's a myth. Use clarified butter which can go to 450

    • @TheUrbanHunter.
      @TheUrbanHunter.  Před 9 měsíci

      If you cook regular butter, it burns quickly. If you cook oil, it has a lot higher burning point. If you mix the two it definitely makes a difference. I’ve never used clarified butter so I can’t speak to that.

      @@TheUrbanHunter. Absolutely but it still needs season, I think black and white folks have different taste buds lol lol! Black folks add lots of season and white folks sometimes don't add any. But it's all good, keep on keeping on

    • @TheUrbanHunter.
      @TheUrbanHunter.  Před měsícem

      lol. I think it’s maybe more of a cultural thing. Meat has a flavor on its own (grass fed beef vs corn fed beef tastes noticeably different). I don’t mind seasoning on food sometimes, but I also enjoy the flavor of the meat and don’t want to disguise it too much. I still want to taste the lobster 🦞. Butter enhances that flavor. To each their own!

      Hey great job. I would have set the tails on the shell first, just soo the shell heats and cooks the lobster THEN you flip it and then just sear it and give that nice beautiful brown color and flavor. That's my opinion. And on the seasoning butter is fine just if it is already salted. Great job

    • @TheUrbanHunter.
      @TheUrbanHunter.  Před 9 měsíci

      Wish I had a better recommendation for you but here in Ohio, we’re far from the ocean. We do have a place in Columbus called Franks that gets stuff frozen and fresh as possible but it’s expensive. Sounds bad but whenever Kroger has them on sale that’s when we buy a bunch. I’ve seen it as cheap as 5 bucks a tail there. Balling on a budget until that CZcams money starts rolling in!

      Oh I appreciate that. Nope, just regular grocery store frozen lobster tails. Freezing seafood right when it’s caught usually keeps it pretty fresh for a while. Just make sure it doesn’t smell super fishy when you thaw it out or it might have been bad when it froze
