  • Traditional row/plant covers do a good job of protecting plants from pests and temperatures. But I have always found them difficult to work with especially when it comes to watering and fertilizing.
I have found my favourite way to protect my plants without any obstruction or labour intensive instillation.
It allows so much freedom and the variety of plants and bushes that you can benefit from it is endless…even all my squash plants!

OH my gosh...I LOVE Frank's shirt 😅🤣🐔 I like the tulle idea, SO much nicer looking than all the hoops and a lot cheaper to boot! I have the tulle bags over my blueberry bushes, they work great! Your garden looks amazing so far 👍

I’ve slowly been buying him chicken t-shirts but I guess we have to start including the ducks and geese 🤣 We have about 3/4 of the garden done, I hope to finish it this weekend. Happy Memorial Day 💜

Happy Saturday! Watched this last night on tv, so didn't get to comment until now. The net tulle is a great idea! You are a wealth of information about gardening (and other things!). And so thoughtful to share with everyone. Your garden is already looking pretty amazing. You & Frank must be so excited for your crops to be harvested. Then come the canning and freezing. You will be very busy soon. Did you ever decide on a paint color for your kitchen? Or have you already painted it and I missed it? Blessing to both of you! Enjoy your day! 💙💙💙💙💙

Thank you Carolyn 😀 I’m hoping today will be the last day of planting in the inground garden then I have one box left 🙏
We have decided on a paint colour but haven’t painted yet. As soon as the gardens are done and we have a few rainy days that will be next on the agenda ✅
Hope you and Steve are enjoying your long weekend! (Ours was last weekend)
      Take care 💜

Unfortunately, tulle is not stabelized to be UV resistant and will sun rot at some point. The tulle with the wider openings will still allow the cabbage moth eggs to be laid or dropped onto the plant leaves as well as aphids to get in; and it was hard to tell for sure, but I'm not sure the smaller openings were tiny enough to keep out the aphids. So, the tulle must be a one-time use thing, right? Since it now has holes from the staples you'd need to have new tulle for next year???

Hi, the tulle is on the brassicas for 4-6 weeks and the squashes 2-4 weeks. I have never had any problems with sun damage. We try and use the staples sparingly and they go on the very edge on the fabric. If there is any damage to longer pieces I cut it up and use those smaller pieces on other plants. I get many uses for the cost. Also I prefer the smaller hole tulle and use it more because it’s more pliable but I haven’t had any cabbage moth damage using the larger one.
