You poor love, such a lot to deal with. Best of luck to you.
You shouldn't be ashamed of morphine? i can hear it in your voice. anyway how's Clive?
@@adrianeyre3630 I'm not ashamed of having to take morphine, it's just not great that I do, given that its addictive to the body and causes yet more digestive issues.
Clive died almost 2 years ago, he had to be put to sleep because of his heart condition getting worse.
@@JoePlater Oh my bad .Im so sorry to hear about Clive you and wife must have been devastated.,I would be as i too have a cat and wouldn't know what to do if anything happened to her . anyway i think you're a warrior having to deal with cancer. i used to follow dan . C is bitch and i hope you beat it .
Just got a stage 4 lung cancer diagnosis a few months ago. Your story is inspirational.
Sending you best wishes. x
I hope everything goes well
Are you still alive
Best wishes. I cant stop me from asking, how long does it take to get diagnosed stage 4 lung cancer? Is it after years of coughing?
🙏🌷🙏 sending you my prayers
Hi Joe. I'm with you. I've been fighting stage 4 cancer for two years. Thankyou for your videos. Makes me feel someone understands. I wish you didn't have to go through all this. Your so brave. Stay strong. Stay stable. Lots of love 💕💞💕....oh yeah...black cat
Black Cat - White Hair… welcome to the “White Hair Family” although I have a good 15 years on you! Thank you for the strength and tenacity you show, but most of all for advocating through your experience for people with our cancer. Your friend always, (emotional) Marc x
Well said. I'm in the same boat 9yrs. Hope all is well?
Hi Joe, you are amazing and strong. I would like to tell you about my daughter, Michelle’s thyroid cancer journey. My husband died of osephagus cancer and then his own dad died from the same cancer. Then my sisters husband died of liver cancer. I thought that was the end until Michelle was diagnosed with follicular thyroid cancer when she was 21. She had the operation and all went well but the consultant refused to back the treatment up with the usual radio iodine treatment because he said they had caught it all, and I believed him. Five years later it was in her hip bones. She has had so many radio iodine treatments that she can’t have any more. It was now a wait and see. She then had a tumour on her spine which was operated on and successful. She still has pain in her hips and spine but she is doing well. She is very anemic and recently had two bags of blood and will be going for an iron infusion soon. She has accepted everything and is looking forward to seeing her dad in heaven. She is now 36 and doing good for now. I wish you all the best and will keep you posted on my Michelle. xx
How if she now? So sad.
Black cat!! Hi there, I’m on a cancer journey myself & never comment on what I read but I felt compelled to try & help lift your spirits. Briefly, I had breast cancer in 2013, then 5 years free and it metastasised out of the blue into EVERY identical area you have just mentioned…. Even the rib side and number. Again, like you I was handed to palliative care (mine was St Peter’s and they were luckily great) went through 16 weekly gruelling chemos and a zap of radio to my pelvis and lower back, and then put on Exemestine and imbrance as a drug regime along with the dreaded slow release morphine. That was FOUR years ago, and thankfully during a recent PET scan it showed no activity and no new areas, and the legion on my liver had gone. So, keep fighting the fight, I really never expected to be here now but we CAN (god willing) live with cancer and not just die from it. I wish you all the absolute best, your storey resonated and touched me hence I was compelled to hit the keyboard. Good luck! Ps, I couldn’t do the white hair thing, get a beard and hair dye and get back to looking like YOU if that’s what you want, certainly helped me! Take care.
Hi Susan how you are doing. Well I hope.
When you have been diagnosed with a life changing situation, you learn to take one day at a time. Your wife sounds like a wonderful lady. Sending you lots of 💜
My Mum has thyroid cancer. After her case was re-reviewed by a national tumour board meeting, it was decided that she wouldn't be offered any further treatment, because of her age, and other factors that I won't go into, here. She is pragmatic about the decision, but it isn't within her nature to simply give up, either. She was also widowed at a young age by cancer, so she's not oblivious to what may still be ahead for her. You strike me as being very articulate and self-aware - both characteristics that will continue to serve you well in your advocating for your own health, I'm sure. My heart is with you.
Hi Joe, You have a wonderful talent for discussing the difficult experiences that you are going through with such fluency and honesty. You really do seem to have a herd of black cats working in your favour - that's what witches have helping them with their spells, isn't it? Lets hope that the Marsden can cast a spell over your liver. The Platers are behind you..
Joe, we haven't heard from you in awhile. Just wanted to let you know how much your story helps A lot of people check up on you, and hope you're feeling better
You are a fucking amazing human. I've been following you story for a while. you haven't made a video recently but I hope its because you are living life to its fullest.keep fighting, stay strong and just know that your bravery, sassy humor and information is helping so many people. lives will be saved because of you.
My best wishes to you, Joe. You're a warrior!
You’re so strong! I am just recuperating from my thyroid cancer surgery. Thank you so much for sharing, you’re so strong and brilliant, it’s so heartbreaking that you’re in pain. Looking forward to hearing more from you!
Hi Joe. I was thinking where you had been and really had you in my thoughts that everything was going well. I can't even begin to understand how you must be feeling but you come across so well in terms of explaining everything scientifically balanced with describing your emotions. I wish you stability, calmness and you are in my thoughts. Thanks for giving this update my friend.
Black Cat! Thanks man for being so honest about your journey. I am a fellow stage four Papillary guy as well. I really find your strength and down to earth approach to your cancer inspiring. Best to you.
Black Cat. I’ve been thinking about you and really glad you updated. You’re in my thoughts ❤️ I’m so glad you have your support from your wife. She sounds awesome!
Joe, thank you as always for your articulate, extremely powerful vlog of your experience of thyroid cancer. We're so sorry to hear the cancer has spread further and just what a rough ride you've been having. Pleased to learn you're still on the TKI (cobazantinib) and that it has helped you to stablise. Black cats always make an impression. Very best wishes from us all.
This was pretty difficult to watch so I can only imagine how tough it was to cope with.
I'm glad things appear to be stabilising now - it wouldn't surprise me if they end up having to rewrite the medical books with your case.
One silver lining (excuse the pun) is that you can make some money next Christmas as a young Santa!
Well done team Plater and great shout-out for Bertie's excellent fundraiser - much respect. o7
*#BlackCat* 🐈⬛
So lovely for you to update Joe, sorry things haven't been too great but it's good that things are stable.......and from one black cat to another my black moggy Reuben says hi x
Hi Joe. I’m sending prayers for you and your family. I hope that the new treatment is keeping things at bay.
Lots of Prayers to you and your family. So glad you are thinking holiday with your wife. Helps to refresh even when there aren't life altering events.
Black Cat, Thank you Joe for updating us on what you’ve been going through. I’m sorry it’s been so rough. I hope you and the mrs have a great holiday.
Your outlook and attitude toward all this is indicative of your discomfort. Sorry for what you're going through. I can only imagine how much it takes each day to continue to fight for your life. But you fight your way - keep hope alive~ Your wife is a saint and deserves a spa trip!
I’m sorry you’ve been suffering. Sending you much love and healing thoughts. 💗
Gosh Joe, this got me. 😢 I’m so sorry to hear this. Glad to hear things are somewhat stable however. Can only imagine what you’re going through. My dad has neuroendocrine cancer so to a degree I do know what it’s like going through it. Your wife sounds absolutely amazing. She’s clearly doing a fantastic job taking care of you. Sending you all the strength & love. Enjoy your holiday! Black Cat 🖤
Anxiously awaiting more videos as always. These helped me get through some of my own thyroid cancer journey and I am so thankful *black cat*
Black cat!! Thank you so much for sharing your story. I hope that you and your wife get to go on a very warm vacation soon. God bless you both!

🐈⬛ Black cat - Ive been following you for a few years now Joe, your videos are always so inspirational. It’s not much granted, just some text message from people you will never meet, but we all really do care and wish you many more days of happiness

Black cat - and welcome to the White Hair brigade. It always amazes me how up-beat you make these videos as you relay all the trials and tribulations you have gone through over the years. Truly inspirational.
I caught a bit of one of your gaming livestreams a few weeks back, so this one is actually a more positive video. Hope the liver gets sorted and the rest remains stable. Had a black cat share my life for over 20 years. Wonderful creatures!
I just heard that our friend and fellow Cmdr Joe Plater sadly passed away last night.
My thoughts are with his family.
I'll always remember you Cmdr Plater o7
Hi Joe, Black cat! Like you I hadn't heard of the heat ablation type treatment before (you mention at about 12 mins) but a friend of mine had it on a tumour on her spine last month. Like you she was in agony and having a terrible time getting the pain managed. Anyway.... A month or so out from that and she says her pain is great (she feels like a different person now its so much better) It wasn't immediate... as we know radiation carries on working after, so it took about 2 weeks to settle properly (although there were little improvements each day) On first scan shes had since that treatment it now can't be seen at all. I know everyone is on their own unique journey but I think it's nice to hear good things about a treatment you will be getting. Much love to you and the family and heres to happy holidays and super sunshine. Take care :) x
Glad for the update on what you've been going through, Joe.
Three cheers for Cabozantinib - long may it work for you.
I think we're out of sync with our Monday Marsden clinic visits now but I will keep an eye out for you in case I can say hello again in person.
I think you need at least two black cats (or so our Malcolm and Maisy would say).
Keep on.
Paul
Thank you Joe for your update. Black cat. Glad to hear the growths are stable. Best wishes.
Hair donation a wonderful gift.
My best friend died aged 47 from cancer and my daughter started her hair growing quest.. she had the most beautiful lush thick hair dark chocolate brown and copper and just kept growing it 7 years growing she set her wedding date got her hair done for big day and announced thet following morning back to hairdresser and 18 inches cut off what a gift...it is commitment to work keeping and maintaining hair in good condition, no colouring but it makes such a difference.
My daughter embraced short hair for 3 years multi coloured it but now starting to grow it again with aim of 2nd donation... I am a proud mum.
🤞🏼Got everything crossed for you….lots of love and hope sent to you and your lovely lady, and not forgetting your Black Cat ❤️ xxx
Black cat. You’re rocking that look dude! Good luck my friend. Hope you both enjoy your hot holiday, and everything remains stable from here on out! ✌🏻
Hey Cmdr P. Thanks for bringing us up to date. My thought, As always, are with you & the family & Enjoy the Holiday fella. Pet 'Black Cat' for me. ❤
Man, you really have been through hell---I'm glad you have your wife at your side through this! I'm sending positive vibes your way...
I'm a long time follower. Pretty devastating video that's having me lost for words. One day at the time I guess, Joe. Good vibes heading your way.
Keep fighting joe. You’re a warrior. Im proud of you 🥰
Thanks very much for the clarification Joe.
I was 21 when I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. I did have to get it removed and now I've been taken Levothyroxine for the last 9 years. Keep up the fight! The way I got through it was not giving in to depression. I know its hard but I also relied on God to help me through it all prayer helps it might not fully heal you but it helps!
Black cat - thank you for sharing your journey - I’m sure not easy to express and honestly not easy to hear but your strong spirit shines through - CMDR looking forward to your next ED video.
Black Cat, thank you for your update and your courage
Just checking in on you and family ❤️ Hopefully you r still stable ❤️‼️
Black Cat! Joe. Thinking about you and your wife:) Thanks for sharing your news and the fundraiser with us. It sounds like that palliative care doc was really helpful and informative. Wow. 🙄On an unrelated note, I really love your background picture.
im sorry to hear about recent events. Please keep fighting and wish you all the best! Black-cat!
Hi Joe, so glad to see you, your a warrior keep fighting good to learn their still trying different treatments. 💙 You and your lovely wife deserve to be pampered, some warm sun shining on you.
Much respect and regards..
Black cat…. I’ve learnt alot about the medical process and especially the thought process to deal with med issues… thankyou for being so open and informative…. Helping me to understand some things that are going on in my world and friends.. xx
Black cat from Texas. Wishing you the best under such tough circumstances. Bone pain scares me the most. I'm a fellow stage 4 also living life between scans. Have you ever looked into Care Oncology Clinic in London? They prescribe repurposed drugs like Mebendazole, Metformin, Atorvastatin, Doxycycline that target cancer metabolism and the drugs are taken alongside standard treatments. Maybe they'd have a positive impact? I had a grim prognosis when I started the Care Oncology Protocol 2 years ago when my cancer came back the 2nd time to stage 4 and now my pet-ct scans have been clear for 18 months. I'd encourage you to check it out. Hoping the liver ablation is successful too.💙
Black cat, glad you joined the white hair club!! Lol. Glad to hear from you again, was getting worried!!! Since I last seem you we have lost Daniel Becker. R.I.P. man. You're missed!!!
Black cat! Thank you for sharing your update. Rooting for you from Chicago!
Wishing you the best Joe! I will be following you, please keep us updated. Happy that the lesions are stable. Liver lesion is probably getting smashed by Cabozantinib. Black Cat
Keep your spirits up Joe!
Black cat! You're a wonderful , strong soul! You're wife is wonderful as well! Many blessings!!!
Been thinking about you often since the last video. Sorry for not checking in. Hope you have a great time on the next holiday, and give the lady behind the greenscreen a hug for me! Black Cat.
Black Cat 🐈⬛...Really admire your courage and strength.I watched many of your Elite videos. You kept my sanity when I was close to losing it.Thank you o7
Sending you light!
Hi. I have prostate cancer 4.
Good to see you are better.
Man it's a fight.
We are soldiers left in the front of war.
All we can do is fight.
In the interval of war we try to live.
Be better. Live all you can.
Black Cat! Great to see another video and that you are staying positive.
Black cat - the grey suits you. I like your down to earth and honest way you describe your journey. I have subscribed and will follow you for a long time to come.
You are my hero black cat. Wishing you every positive thing and mostly a peaceful mind. Lovya 😘
Thanks for another update, friend.... you've gone through quite a rough time... I hope things continue to be stable from now on.... how's black cat Alfred doing? ;-)
Hey Joe, I've been wondering about you. So glad you caught us up even if it isn't the best of news. You'll be in my thoughts. Hang in there and don't let any Black Cats cross your path.
What a horrible video to hear. But also a such a admiration. I’ve been dismissed
Got 4 years and now just been diagnosed with this im
In constant pain with my back hips for 2 years and rib pain for last 4 months watching your videos is very educational and helpful to me. Thank you for sharing the processes on here and and I wish you all the happiness you can enjoy with your family and close ones cxxxxxx
🐈⬛😊
You are an inspiration!!!
Thank YOU... for sharing your life with others!!! 😔
Mighty Warrior You Are!!!
🙏🕊❤💛❤
Black cat, black cat! I was just thinking of you yesterday and wondering how you were. Thank you for the update on how you are doing and I hope you have a great holiday with your wife! Some place hot sounds nice!
I'm sorry for your cancer and pain. Doctor's can forget to show compassion. Everything that you have to go through with cancer is horrible. I hope you respond to your treatments.
Sending prayers!!!!!
I salute you soldier, complete frustration hearing this news, a few more tricks up the sleeve, the microwave needle sounds promising, in the mean time take that holiday and thoroughly enjoy yourselves. Can we see the gundam model in a later vid pretty please. As always, its good to see you, my black cat Diesel loves grated cheese!
I wish the news was better but it sure is great to see you! Black cats are awesome!
Had Papillary Thyroid Cancer, checked in April for Pancreatic Cancer, nothing found yet. Off tomorrow for tests for Oral Cancer, its all go but hoping you will keep on track and keep the dreaded C at bay. Send me one of your spare wishes, all the best to you... Black cats all around xx
BLACK CAT 🙂 Thanks for the update. Hope you continue to feel better so you can take that well deserved vacation. Hang in there, and take care.
Thank you - I heard of a treatment in this video that I've never heard of before and I'm going to enquire about it. Thank you for sharing your experience
dear Joe...i am soooooooooooo sooory and wish you all good... all will be ok.
Dear Joe,
So sorry Joe that you have had such a rough time. You and your wife are such an inspiration to us all. What you are going through is what I am so afraid about with my ATC. We hope you and your wife get on holiday as you certainly deserve it. However, we suspect your “Black Cat” will not be happy being left behind while you folks are on holiday.
Take care and hang in there.
I'm in awe of your courage and fortitude. I hope you have a great and memorable holiday with your wife in the near future. Black Cat.
My brother designed one of the Radio Ablative Therapy systems, he also does a lot of work with proton therapy. Im so glad his work is doing some good. Wishing you all the best. Fund raising is a virus with no known cure. If its a cat it has to be a Black Cat.
Black cat! Sending well wishes! Hope you find a fab holiday destination you guys deserve it. 🐈⬛
I'd been wondering what was happening with you. Sorry the news isn't what you wanted but great that you seem so positive. Sending positive thoughts
About four years ago I took in a black cat that had obviously been abandoned by someone who moved out of our apartment complex as he was so tame and sweet....and BIG!!! He's likely a mixed breed but greatly resembles a British Shorthair - he's stocky built with short legs and looks like a miniature panther. However, for such a big, impressive looking black cat, he has the tiniest "meows." I named him Raj.
I'm sorry things have been so rough. Glad you're feeling better and are stable now. I never really know what else to say as words seem so inadequate. Oh, but black cats are beautiful. Look after each other.
You have no idea how good it is to see you again! 👍👏🌹🙏 Black cat, of course! 👍
Black cat 🐈⬛ I’m sorry joe, cancer is devastating. I hope your pain continues to be under control, and enjoy your holiday!
Black Cat - before I had my chemo back in 2014 for breast cancer I had my waist length hair cut to just below my shoulders so wouldn’t be such a shock my losing it to chemo, and I donated my hair to Little Princess Trust so I could help a young child going through chemo. It’s a brilliant thing to do that’s for sure.
god bless you
Blackcat, I'm rooting for you! Let's go! wooot wooot 🚂🚂🚂
🐈⬛ Black Cat. Praying for you. I went through breast cancer and just got over Covid. 🙏🏻❤️
One if the many beauty of redheads. Our hair doesn't turn Grey, it turns silver! Looks good on you my friend.
Black cat 🐈⬛ Still the same person I loved to watch stream elite. It hasn't taken an inch of your soul. Your an inspiration. ❤
