- ITV's theme to the 1990 World Cup - Tutti al Mondo by Peter van Hooke and Rod Argent (of the Zombies and Argent), who also wrote the ITV 1986 World Cup theme under the pen name of Silsoe.

A truly emotional and uplifting theme, I still love it today.
Even if the footage is not the first thing you'd think of with this theme, it's heartwarming to reintroduce lost classics to a modern era.
i have this on 7" vinyl. i remember picking it up for 25p in a bargain bin. still love it now.
This tune takes me back. I first heard it on saint and greavsie when it was backing fo 1986 world cup highlight montage....legendary stuff. I 've still got the vid on VHS. I may upload it sometime.
The BBC and ITV both outdid themselves with their themes for Italia 90
I remember right at the end of the world cup and this song came on. It was a really uplifting piece with the commentary of all the goals and drama on top of the music.
I always like listening to the end music of the world cups on both channels but they often overlap each other and you miss part of one.

Italia 90, my favourite World Cup of all time and the best England squad since the mid 60's to early 70's.
+Buckblacket Italia 90 was the best, Lucky Germans beat us on penalties we could have gone on to win the World cup.
+iguanna41 I completely agree. That was an extremely poor Argentina side that Germany went on to beat in the final. As the late great Bobby Robson said about our chances of emulating that had it been us that reached the final "I'd have bet my house on it!" and I'd have bet mine Bobby!

Gotta love the "Weekend" record company! The B side was the awesome athletics theme "Hot Foot". they don't make them like that any more! Actually, when was the last time athletics was on ITV?
