Heyyyyyy lovelies, in this video we are creating some adorable Valentine pieces using Polymer Clay.
I am using FIMO Soft Polymer Clay that I purchased from Hobbycraft. I am also using a Polymer Clay Extruder to create some strands. This is a simple easy for beginners polymer clay. It can be time consuming but totally worth it. If you , like me, are new to polymer clay this is definitely a polymer clay project you can get your teeth in to. All polymer clay tools are linked here in my Amazon storefronts under the polymer clay window.

A tip is to lay cling film over the clay before you cut it. It gives you lovely rounded edges. If you want to skip the plaiting, just use twists and alternate the direction you twist on the strands as you lay them out. Don’t use any straight strands though. It comes out looking a lot like a knitted pattern. Also you don’t really need a base, if you want thinner hearts.
I’d love love to see your pieces!
@gillianinoz I love the knitted pattern look - and that's what she was going for with 'chunky knit'.
I make quite a bit of polymer clay jewellery, but I've never owned an extruder. Having watched this, it might be time to get one. Gold and light pink are not my colours, but these look really cute.
I personally glue studs on earrings with epoxy glue, because it seems to stick well, and unlike uv resin, it cures under the studs, too. Uncured uv resin can irritate the skin, and even though it's cured on the surface, I wouldn't risk the uncured resin seeping through at some point. Also, if you're planning on making more of these, I recommend investing in flat nose pliers without the teeth (as in smooth), preferrably two of them. If you use pliers with teeth, you'll end up scratching the gold plated surface of the findings, and the findings will wear off more quickly.
Also, if you go from zen mode to manufacturing mode, you can always make silicone moulds from the polymer clay pieces, and use them from then on. Not that it's nearly as fun.
The extruder reminds me of those playdough sets. When i was a kid, i had one that was a hair salon...you put the little playdough person in the chair...if you pressed down on the chair, the "hair" came out in lil skinny pieces like the extruder did...then you could cut it or braid it. 😂
This looks AMAZING, Claire!!💜🤯💜
lol I remember something like that for My Little Pony hair too
Yes that would be fuzzy pumper !
They are super adorable and now I want to dig out my clay and extruders and make a whole range of knitted jewllery to match my handknitted clothes! 💜
LOVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVE them. Fell asleep watching them last night, so came back for part two lol The gold colour and pink look great together too. x
Thanks for shoutout again lovely 😍 knit effect with an extruder is something that's been on my list to try for a while and I've not done it yet! They are looking gorgeous!!
Try using one clean swipe when you're using the blade to pick the clay up from the tile. It will help keep your pieces from distorting. These turned out adorable. Clay can be so much fun!
I love the hearts! You MUST wear them!!
I am so happy that you are becoming more comfortable with using polymer clay. It is a wonderful medium to work with. I have used it for 35+ years. I bought foam board that is for putting under your knees to garden. It is helpful to pin the top of your clay to the board when you are twisting or braiding your cords. You want to put clay over the metal edge of your earring backs to help hold them on. Also when adding a head pin or straight object into the clay you want to put a bend into it or it could easily be pulled out. With a bend it can't be pulled out.
Very cute designs Claire!
Both are equally beautiful!!!! 🩵🩵🩵
I must say you have a wonderful imagination, Ms Claire 😍.You created those first in your mind and made them in reality and the braids were so perfect I both the styles abd after assembling them, they looked like perfect knited sweater/jumper.The clay earrings and pendant turned out superb 👌 💖😍💜
Absolutely adorable Claire 😊😊
I am now craving flumps! 😂
Very cute, having to stop myself getting into polymer clay as running out of room in my studio already 🙈.
I prefer the chunky knit heart earrings. But for people who wear a lot of pink, the round ones could be worn all spring. In my day, I had a few pink shirts/blouses I would have worn the stud earrings with. ❤❤❤
These are adorable. You can also use the polymer clay for making molds out of them. (Not that you want to, but you could.) You could also make your own inlay sheets or special silicone inlays with it. Just be sure to coat the polymer clay once baked, if you want it a shiny surface. A tip for those that do not have coated pliers or tools, is to use washi tape/making tape on them and it helps to keep the tools from scuffing the wires, rings or eyelets. Have a wonderful day.
Claire ur a genius, i can't wait to be able to afford to buy the supplies to make these. Thank you for sharing your ideas and discovered
They are all beautiful Claire I love both versions ❤❤❤
💗💗💗💗Sooooo cute...love the chunky look 💗💗💗💗
Absolutely adorable idea and I LOVE the chunky knit
They look fabulous Claire never used polymer clay but you are certainly converting me 😮😊xx
I love the chunky knit 🧶 but the small knit is good too 🧶
I love the chunky hearts I would so wear them closer to Valentine’s Day. I agree with the comment about making the retro cane with your extruder, beware it is addictive.
I ❤❤❤❤❤ the heart earrings...super cute!!!!
Wow these are so cute 🥰 wonderful, Claire 💞
Oh Claire! These are adorable! Definitely something I am going to try! Thanks!
Loving your journey in clay, as I'm interested in clay arts too. How about some experiments in miniture foods and fake bakes?❤
These are so cute! Try different colors in braiding and twists. That's cute too! I love these!! ❤️
Also i do recommend using gel super glue first to attach ur posts...then uv over too simply because the light cant cure underneath the post and will come off...ask me how i know lol
These are amazing, I love all your art work, and I love your happy soul, little tip; if you twist two snakes together to the right and take another two snakes and twist to the left and then put them side by side they give you the plait effect. Hope it helps
I have not really done much with polymer clay but watching you Claire makes me want to have of a go with it 😍
My problem would be wanting to do a silicone molds with them after lol 😄 Great work again Claire 👍🤩
What a fun project. I like the small cable.😊❤
These are adorable Claire!💖
I love the thinner knit and am in love with that pink!
Oh wow. That is so cool. Very pretty!😃👍💕
The clay strands look like Big League Chew gum from my childhood 😂
These are fantastic!
I think these are perfect and precious! I absolutely love listening to your excitement in making them.❤
Adorable polymer clay jewelleries,Ms Claire and those jumper patterns look do amazing and realistic 😍💜
Those would make super cute buttons
Hi Claire love these 😍 m6 favourite is the chunky 😍 thanks for sharing ❤❤❤ xxx
They are adorable.
I love the chunky heart ❤️ What a great idea. The only thing I’ve ever used my extruded for was to make sprinkles.
I love all 3 Suoer cute. Another great video. 🎉
These would be cute buttons on a shirt!!
Very cute, they all look fantastic. ❤
I’ve used Polymer clay since 1987. I was given an extruder in early 2000 😂 I used it once… that’s it. Now that I have been introduced to cosclay (it a flexible clay after curing) I may try it again…
Very cute.
They all came out beautiful Claire! The hearts are my favorite. Love them! ❤
These are so adorable. Love them all.
Cute…TFS ❤
These are adorable 💞💞💞💞
Love these! 💗💗💗
Beautiful ❤❤❤❤❤ love them all
Oh my gosh, they are so adorable, makes me want to get my polymer clay out.
Both are beautiful ❤❤❤
They are so cute.
very cute, all of them
I work with resin and polymer clay too. I like the design There are many channels on CZcams that focus on polymer clay too.
I love both!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.😊
Clair very lovely ❤
I love them ALL 💜💜💜💜💜
Love these....I make a lot of polymer clay items...you can get a texture sheet that you just roll on to give this effect if you wanted something quick 😊.
Gorgeous x
I can't help but think of marshmallows when i look at these😂 i want to eat them, they're so cute
😊Very pretty, you did a fantastic job. ❤️❤️
Love them all!!! ❤❤❤❤ just getting into polymer clay myself. Thank you for sharing
They are gorgeous, thank you Claire x❤
I dont want to sound negative, but the UV resin will not be cured behind the posts.
There is no way for the UV rays to be there.
You could just use the resin over the entire back, over the post.
Or use a glue to hold the post, first.
I think they are adorable.❤
A rub with some gold shimmer powder would be pretty on them, too. Or pearl.
Oh i have one of these i used it twice for fondant will keep it now for my clay.
Oh Claire, your enthusiasm is so lovely! The excitement in your voice makes me want to grab my extruder right now (even though I’m laid in bed with excruciating back pain)! I love everything you do, keep up the great videos!❤️❤️❤️
Those are so cute!!!
Stunning! ❤
Those are definitely adorable. So precious. Love the warm and cozy vibe they give off. ❤
I’m definitely trying this….too adorable ❤
Such an inspiration!
Chunky knit without a dought, but all great and ya I will.try this. X
I have one of these in my craft room I need to dig it out. I love this idea
really cute!
🎉So very cute 😍 😊
I love them and I’m going to try them.
3:04 OMG… I was cleaning up and sorting my clay and tools today (that I hadn’t used in a year or 2…. but I randomly wanted to make some crochet hook handles)… and I saw these but I had no memory of what those bands were so I put them away in the not needed box… then I see them on your rolling pin…. Of course! Time to fish them back out and put back with my tools I need!
Ooo, this is fun… I do have an extruder, yay!
🤣🤣🤣 that is exactly how it went for me too ... found the bands at the bottom of my container... had no memory of what they were until I saw the rolling pin 🤣
These are lovely👍🏻❤
SO pretty. ❤
I love both patterns. In the US, plait=braid. 💖. Thank you! 💐
Get some bake and bond, they renamed it but when applied to un baked clay to adhere to itself when baked. No fiddling with any thing else. Plaiting plate ing is fun.
I’m❤so❤in❤Love❤with ❤these❤!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💝
these are so cute! I can definitely see me getting into polymer clay😁
Ooh i bought one of these in august after doing same as you and ive not tried it yet! Im going to have to give it a go now!
I love both of them but I would recommend to put a little bit of glue on the eye screw..
Those rabbit holes are DANGEROUS……… which is how I discovered resin a few years ago lol….
I have made similar pieces and they were gone in minutes. Seems my girls and their friends love earrings and pendants that I make.
I remember doing this with playdough 😂😂
Chia pets is what they’re called! I think they’re more like those old play-doh sets that were a barbershop where you squeeze out the “hair” and then cut it with the lil scissors that came with the kit😊 too bad you didn’t try this with the Christmas sweater cutter
Claire....since u have an intwrest in clay AND since u now have an extruder...look up how to do a retro cane. Super cool look amd i promise u will b in love at how this extruder does this pattern by itself!!!! Would be cool with valentines colors
Ooooooo I absolutely will 😍😍😍
If you want to make sure polymer clay sticks to itself brush on a small amount of translucent liquid clay before adding the extruded pieces. It also works on clay that is already baked as it acts like a glue. I know unbaked polymer usually sticks to itself - but not always.
They remind me of peppermints the ones that just have a stamp in the middle
Hace tiempo que no hago fimo, pero un film transparente antes del corte queda más bonito, puedes dar color con los polvos de uña o mica que usamos para la resina
I’d love to try polymer clay… but have jackhammers for hands 😅
Very cute I don’t think I have the patience to do that
❤😊
😊
It’s a mini cookie press!!!!!!
I have toooo many polymer clays, and tools 😳…. Still haven’t got crackin with them.
These are adorable. Look like little sweaters, as we say in US. I’m trying to find earring pieces that are for sensitive souls; any tips are appreciated.
