I'm a biggest fan of switches in songs because I like a lot of sm songs. I'm so excited because I thought I'm gonna like it but after hearing it, I'm just trying yo comprehend what I just listened to. I was like what just happened, I'm never been so overwhelmed listening to a song. I'm a little sad because the girls seems so promising and talented.

ikr everyone should let experimental sounds to sm atp xD jyp is always following sms trends since day one but always failing like come up with something new-
And I think that’s a big problem. Im also usually someone who vibes with noise music immediately, but this “song” just felt wrong the minute they did that first transition of 5 seconds of silence. They had me until then. And then they basically gave up trying to mix those songs. It literally felt like the 1-2 seconds between songs on an album, except instead of starting a new song they just went straight to the second verse of a completely different song. It just really screams poor production and Laziness to me. The girls deserve better than this song.
JYP I think they should do something sounds like them. The reason why SM mixed songs sound so good because the transitions were excellent. "O.O" doesn't have those. Haewon's first line's instrumentals were excellent. I wonder why didn't they build the song on such amazing instrumentals?

Its because the purpose of mixx genre is to have a 2 or more different genre in one song and they don't have to be sync in and don't have to be good in transitions.

The beat change constantly bcos jyp Entertainment worked with an agency of EE.UU that is famous for working with SM Entertainment and with aespa, but in my opinion they could just create a simple instrumental...But the song is still good:)
@@muhammadilhammudin4952 Yeah that's what I thought so too, the music in spotify where they transitioned in the 1st part into the 2nd part was so much better than in this MV where it's totally silence. What i thought is that they should put at least a subtle sound bite/sound effects to those jellyfish & fishes so it looks more lively in MV, and a beat to every frame before they shout "NMIXX", at least in MV no need to the song itself.
So “baila” is actually Spanish😭 it means to dance and it pronounced like (bye-la) but they’re saying it as “balah” which adds on to the confusion with of the song bc It sounds like they’re just saying a bunch of made of words, on top of all the beats switching. The song is so overwhelming because of the lack of cohesion and pathetically poor execution. The instrumental is just pure noise and gives no opportunity for the girls to showcase their vocal ability. I’m shocked they chose this as the debut song given how heavily they have been pushing this image of each member of nmixx having incredibly strong vocals

the girls are great and ive heard that theyre really good. but this song lacks cohesion in terms of music prod, or that sound that will grow on you or keep you on hook. it will surprise you due to sudden beat changes but i feel like you will forget how the whole song sounds like.

i’m having a blast watching reactions for this song cause everyone is as confused and overwhelmed like me😭
THEIR VOCALS are so unique and satisfying I don't understand why they didn't focus more on it, this could have been a bop but you end up distracted by the changes and can't fully focus on anything else but a few parts that are nicer to hear (mostly lily's vocals. she ate.)
I honestly REALLY like this song. I listened to it 24/7 when it came out and I’m still obsessed with it! Its a shame people cant like it because of the switches but that doesnt mean you should hate on the group. With the group name people shouldve EXPECTED the switches, and if you like the way all the switches sound then whats the problem? they are such a talented group and it hurts to see people hating on them 😭 BUT I LOVE THE VIDD!!

Tbh they are more of a good dancing group then anything else, I can tell that jyp did a good job with actually finding good vocalists, and i think this group is probably the group with the best vocals from any jyp group. But I’m still saying they are better dancers then singers.

Why does that matter in this case tho? A bad song is a bad song regardless of wether or not the producer made a good song before.
It's different. SM works with them but arrangement is SM's composer.

I think the name is based on the fact that theyre trying to be a pick-n-mix of different concepts and sounds, its strange but i dont think its that bad. Its quite polarizing though, people are fairly divided on them so far.
their whole brand with "pick n mix" and their genre "mixx pop" is LITERALLY based on plagiarizing they're doing something that SM has been doing for over 10 years and jyp decides to own it and call it "mixx pop"

The problem was not just the song but also the group in general because it honestly feels like ITZY 2.0 but with much experimental song production. In terms of freshness in the song, SM has already made people open to literally EVERYTHING so to up SM standards Jype needed a much fresher or at least better song production because vocally anyway this song is deficient with the lyrics being talked out.
Also, It is nowhere near Next Level. People just picked up "experimental" and "transition" and they started comparing when even that itself isn't comparable. Sorry
I mean if they only took Ateez's pirate concept then it wouldn't be that much of a big deal, but they straight up copy pasted Ateez's Illusion, Don't Stop, Turbulence and The Real's mv AND they had the audacity to say that they can be some common stets. I mean since when did the pirate concept get common in kpop? Ateez got made fun of for the pirate concept at their debut but now all of a sudden is a common concept barely 3 years later I guess

Clearly this is not just a song with two different genres or concepts mixed, this is a “trailer” or “teaser” song about a girl group, like “prepare yourself for what is coming”. The girls are basically saying “We can do this and this and this too”, and for me they worked it out incredibly.

No bc shoog shoog had me on the FLOOR 😭😭 but I absolutely adore the song now haha. I honestly think it’s called O.O and the sign in the mv is O.o because that’s the reaction everyone will have when they listen to it. Plus the lyrics are all “coming soon, we just started, come on let’s go, watch like O.O” I think that may have been the point of the debut and I’m excited for more.
The lyrics says "it's just a teaser, don't be surprised yet calm down". This song IS confusing, but I'm excited to see more of NMIXX in the future, they have so much potential and so much to offer. Let's wait patiently and not let this debut song define them

I have listened to this song so many times since its release and still can't like the song. I saw the song that it mixed the styles of SM and YG but it didn't work. the audio transition is quite difficult to hear, but separating each part is quite good. I don't appreciate this debut song but I will still support the group in their upcoming music production.
I had the exact same reaction. I didn't get the concept. Also the rhythm seems all over the place. Almost like a k-pop bohemian rapsody 😅. I hope its not because JYPE just wants to show how divers they can be in like just one song. I was a bit disappointed. Hope they'll find their style
That was an insult to Bohemian Rhapsody lol. Don't even say that this is kpop bohemian rapsody. It was just a bad and failed experimental song. The only kpop bohemian rapsody is I Got A Boy and Tempo and THAT was a successful experimental song.

To be completely honest, the part that really bothers me about this song is the vocal mixing. This is JYP. Not some nugu company group. I expect, at the very least, the technical aspects of their songs to be good. But this fails to consistently deliver on that, which is really disappointing for one, and secondly doesn't do these girls (who can clearly sing) any favors. Honestly I really wish that...idk, "industrial pop rock" of the second verse thingy (from "Nmixx!" around 1:14 in the song) and bridge was what the whole song was. It would fill JYP's apparent want for something ""experimental"" but also sound good, support strong vocals, and align a bit with the pop punk resurgence happening these days. Or, they could just forking commit to the whole "no structure" thing and made a cool song that continually progresses (think like classical, some metal, etc.) with maybe a few repeating synth hooks here and there. That'd be neat and different for a kpop group. But oh well. Hopefully their next releases are better, this group has a ton of potential.
we all know aespa's next level have mixes too and everytime it switches genre we're amazed, But this song is really confusing it's not match for the girls like it's mess if they perform this, so sad that jyp wasting their vocals for this confusing song.

The song is not my cup of tea, but I am really disappointed with the fact that they have too many scenes very similar to Ateez MVs. It's sad that their company did that because the girls seem so talented.

I view this song as less of a radio/standalone hit, and more of a debut in the form of a form of what to expect from the group. You have two completely different potential genre/concepts for future releases, it showcases the amazing capabilities of the members, and ends abruptly (almost too abruptly) leading you to wanting more, or wondering where else it could've gone. I think all that is on purpose. My main issue is that it the two genre/concepts could've been better transitioned between, especially going from concept A to B, the abrupt change back to concept A grew on me and I enjoyed it far more then the A to B transition. If the music director put a bit more of a transition to introduce the viewers to concept B I think this song would be a lot more capable as a stand alone song. Tons of music (progressive rock comes to mind) successfully combine two very different sounding concepts into one song. However they transition well, and the songs are also much longer allowing the parts to play out more.
