  • In previous episodes where I demonstrated DIY fuel injector cleaner/tester for the 5.3L Jaguar V12 rebuilds I have going , I made a brief reference to an Autool CT-200 fuel injector cleaner/tester wherein II described it as "junk". Which it was at the time since the only thing that worked on it was the ultrasonic cleaner and the LED's. Since then, with little help from Autool customer service, I have gotten most functions working and actually serves the purpose I bought it for. This is my review of the machine as it sits in my shop right now.

    I bought the CT160 a long time ago, but only unpacked it after watching your video. Unfortunately, it had the same problem: the pump in the storage tank was defective. The hose connection on the pressure side was broken off directly at the nozzle, this plastic part is simply too thin. This caused a flood on the workbench immediately after the first start-up. So I unscrewed the whole unit and removed the pump. I drilled out the hole in the pump housing to 9.5 mm and screwed in a 1/4 inch connection piece with a hose connection.
    The good news is that this unit has the right brackets for the Bosch/Jaguar injectors. The long, very slim brackets only need to be drilled out slightly to 10 mm, then the injector connectors of the injectors fit into the brackets and can be sealed with an O-ring at the bottom.

    Very cool explaining of the advantages over the previous single injector version. I wasn't aware that the standard connections didn't fit this unit.
    Thanks for showing the modification!

    Thanks for that review. I'm glad to see you got it working. I really need to do two sets of injectors, and this could pay for itself pretty quickly. But I don't have the machine tools to make the adapter bits, hint, hint.

    • @thecampchaoschronicles9567
      @thecampchaoschronicles9567  Před 2 lety

      Here's the problem. Two sets of injectors probably won't be enough to find 12 acceptable units. That's probably the biggest discovery during this whole exercise. These adapters would probably cost about as much as the machine itself. One-off things like this get spendy real fast. New might be a better option. No experience with the Latvian injectors, though. www.ebay.com/itm/154127696646?fits=Year%3A1987%7CModel%3AXJS%7CMake%3AJaguar&epid=1457991114&hash=item23e2ba0306:g:kuYAAOSw8H5gBt~n

    Great video, I didn't realize injector testers were available at a semi reasonable price. After watching this, I am now thinking just cleaning the injectors I have with a can of injector cleaner is not the best path, which I have done before. I am rebuilding an engine now and will eventually get to the injectors. I only have a couple of sets, so the best path might be to buy some new or reman units as you explained below as I may not find twelve good ones. Thanks.

      Wow! That’s good to hear, let’s see how they followed through in the end. Unfortunately, I’m not a CZcams creator, so I’d have to spend all my time on emailing for a resolution. Did you buy it on Amazon? Don’t they have a better return policy? I’m starting to think that maybe I should look at a domestic manufacturer that doesn’t have a two week shipping window to replace the unit. I don’t think I want to spend $500 on something that the manufacturer expects you to finish the repairs on failed returned units. They’re not bound by our laws, so you’re on your own. What kind of QA does this company practice? It would be interesting to know what the actual failure rate is for this product. Being compensated after the buyer has posted a detailed video exposing what can happen sometimes is not what I want to plunk down $400 for, even if it’s a lot cheaper than the US made product (which is also manufactured in China).

      Exactly,@@waverider5751 it should work out of the box for that money. I had a similar experience with a Chinese '900kg or so' engine stand which bent the face plate when I put a Jag V12 on it. Much discussion followed with eventually a return. Bloody frustrating.

    A great video and quality mods that you have made. Have you run brand new injectors through the rig to see what the variation is between 'factory fresh' inhectors?

    Why do you run your voice on the right channel at first, then switch to the left channel 5-1/2 minutes in? I’m using a single earbud to listen, so I can be aware of sounds around me. Suddenly, your voice went away on my right ear, then I find your voice is now completely on the left, and silent on the other. At least the left channel music dropped out when I took out the left earbud when the video began. Great content, but I have to listen with MONO rather than stereo on my phone just for this video. You played a trick on our ears, but it didn’t help everyone.

    China Chin Chin tech support 101... they are using Aliexpress warranty practices. I always pay w PP, at the first run around I open a claim, I either get a partial refund or a full refund w paid shipping label.
    Gone are the days of troubleshooting, all they are doing is buying time so customer satisfaction refund from Ebay or PP expires, once that time is reached, they go silent to never reply.
