This video is not only for the iPad Air 5 owners who wants to upgrade to newer 2024 iPad Air 6, but it is also for those who have older even older versions. In summary the differences (considering iPad Air 5 11” vs Air 6 11”) are:
- Position of the front camera:
Moved to center of landscape position rather than center of portrait.
- Processor:
Changed to M2, rather than M1.
- Bluetooth 5.3 and wifi 6E
- Apple Pencil hover (I believe it’s tied to buying the Apple Pencil pro rather than Apple Pencil 2nd gen)
Feedback from a iPad 5 11” user:
For me it doesn’t make any sense to upgrade. The only change that would matter is the new processor. However the M1 chip have never given me ANY issues. It’s extremely powerful. I have it since September 2022
Who is watching this on an ipad air 5
Me
Me
Watching on mini 6
@@peterbaker359 ahh the mini 6 is so cute and I was thinking of buying it, but then I decided buy the air 5, the Smart Keyboard Folio and the Apple Pencil
✨✨starlight✨✨
I doubt anyone needs to upgrade from 5 to 6 after 2 years. The reason I got an air 5 was not to have to get a new one for the next 5 or 6 years.
Same!
Yeah, I generally keep my iPads for like 5yrs+ before upgrading lol - currently have the Air 5
@@MySpore100 same! I never got the hype with the pro tbh. i just use mine to carry out basic student stuff like note-taking and netflix
@@psychofreakk yeah, mine is just for editing CZcams videos so my main concern was storage. So I made sure if I was upgrading I needed more space (256GB) & the tech spec upgrade was nice aswell makes the editing process so much smoother. I will wait until the AIR 8 or beyond before I upgrade again lol
@@MySpore100 reasonable
I actually video edit on my Air5 using Luma Fusion. It allows me to keep all the footage on an external SSD and render it back to the SSD when I am done. Works fantastically well.
Which one is better for art?
Does have the new one (air 11inches) the same cases and tempered glass with the 2022 air 10.9??
Lucky me I got the Best Buy membership so I have 60 days on mine but now I’m deciding if I should get the m2 or the pro. M2 would be an even exchange but the pro is only 250 upgrade from mine since I have the 256gb which should I do?
My dilemma is Air 5 or 6...iPad Air 5 256gb for $550 or iPad Air 6 128gb for $569. Air 5 64gb is at $399 but 64gb is too small.
My M1 iPad Air is still not missing a step at all. I would get the 13in., but if I need that size screen, I’ll use my MacBook.
Although the 13 inch is tempting with cellular when you are on the move. Upgrading from an air 5 to air 6 12.9” could be more logical than to 11”, depends how less portable it is, unfortunately you can’t test drive them like that.
I got the Air 5 for college last year and I see no reason to upgrade. When it stops getting software updates is when I will.
Yeah me too. When it stops updating I will probably change it
getting a new one for college, would it be better to just get the 5 to save a couple bucks or just shell out for the new one?
Unless you can find the cheaper ipad air 5 with 256 gb, get the ipad air . Only 64gb is far away from enough.
I want to get my first iPad but honestly idk to wait for the 6th or buy now the 5th for a cheaper price. I want to use it for my work and college
I would say go for the Air 5, especially when the air 5 256 roughly = air 6 128 price.
There's not much of a difference between em and the air 5's M1 re still kicking ass for at least 6 more years.
BUT if u REALLY need the air 6 's M2 and financial abundance. Air 6 all the way
@@haiannguyen3299Good advice! I just got the air 5 with 256gb for my nephews and they love it. I did not realize the 6 was coming out. But then I saw that it was not much of an upgrade and the price is expensive so I guess getting the air 5 is not bad.
@@haiannguyen3299 thank you! I bought the 5th ✨🤍
@@haiannguyen3299Good points!
@@haiannguyen3299and plus, places like Best Buy for example often do sales and chances are will probably soon to rid of their air 5 inventory
No not worth upgrading. A disappointment. Should have at least given them a mini LED display with 90-120 hz display.
Basically, apart from the larger size model and the faster chip it’s more of the same. The average iPad user doesn’t need that M2 chip anyway.
An A17 is fine. So no. Expensive overkill.
That was what I thought too. I got the air 5 for my nephews and they love it. I did not realize that the 6 was coming out so soon so wanted to see what the differences were. I saw the major differences are the M2 chip, upgrade in storage and a few other things but that is it. Yes, the regular user does not need an M2 chip. It is not much of an upgrade for so much more. I guess getting the air 5 was not a bad choice.
I agree
I have been using iPad Air 5 for a year and it was amazing that I mostly used it for digital art and taking down notes for college classes. Plus, the performance is game-changing.
I’m looking to make my first purchase. I’m just a mom but want to learn to draw/write. I want to edit photos in lightroom. Read books like a kindle. Nothing major.
I was looking at the iPad 9th Gen. But I’d rather not go that big of screen.
So I’m torn between iPad mini 5th gen to save money or the iPad Air 5th gen. I was looking to see someone could tell me if the 6th gen air was necessary and so I’m glad I found this.
I have a kindle and love it and I’m worried I won’t take my iPad with me if it’s too big. I already have a MacBook Air at home and iPhone 13 Pro so it’s just bridging the gap.
So air or mini? And is the last gen on each ok?
Thanks guys!
You can buy ipad 10th gen its same as air also way cheaper in my country
@@Kaicho___I would not say it is the same but the 10th gen is not a bad iPad. It is cheaper than the Air series.
Ipad 10 is a perfect choice for you
Thanks guys! I was leaning towards a 9 for $250 right now but I’m worried the screen would be too big so I was second guessing maybe getting an air refurbished so it was easier to handle
@@TrinhNguyen-sh4fj sorry I meant same size
Display isn’t an issue at all. I have an air 5 at the moment and I’ve never had any issue with it.
I just sometimes draw on procreate and use goodnotes for my study. Should I buy the new iPad or the old one?
Given theres not much diff in price of the 11 inch 5 or 6, when considering future proofing and future retail value I'd be tempted to stump up for the 6th gen... tbh I fancy the 13 inch for the 30% more screen!
If you don't already have the iPad Air 5, then you should definitely buy the iPad Air 6 because there is no starting price difference between the two (you can buy a larger variant too if you have spare money).
But "if" you already have the iPad Air 5, then there is no need to upgrade; M1 is quite capable for the work you do.
maybe wait 1-2 weeks after the newest Ipad is available everywhere. I think the ipad air 5 prices will go down then
@@yeshuaki2125I doubt it will go down that much. It will still be at least $500-$600 still and will not go lower than $500, especially for the 256gb.
I have 3rd gen air ipad and i want to change it soon ,what should i buy if i want the ipad for for games ,watching and sometimes studying and do projects, Note that i want the ipad to stay for many years with me
I got my air 5 around 2 years ago for college and it works great still! I am only thinking about upgrading to the new 6th gen specifically for the screen. I go to college for music and I read my sheet music off my iPad and the 11in is a little too small to comfortably read. I don't use it for games but I take all my notes and use Canvas for college through my iPad and it works great. Hope you enjoy whatever you decide on!
Which model to buy ipad Pro m2 Or ipad Air 2024
I’m contemplating about this too
If you can compromise on lcd vs mini-led, iPad air 2024 is better choice in my opinion.
1st it cost less.
2nd you will receive 2 more years of software update support.
@@TechticsDailytrue but the 120hz on the pro m2 is necessary so idk really
Yup, that is why i said "if you can compromise in display"
@@TechticsDaily I will not be playing games on it. I will be using it for some other work neither will do any hard core drawing.
In India ipad Pro costing 76900 with 128 version and now as New Air has same thing what Ipad Pro had with price on 50 K.
can I use an iPad Air 5 case on the Air 6?
Yes. I used my iPad air 4 and fits perfectly on the new air 6
Should i go from air 4 to air 6? (I would have to change the pen too so it would be 850€ in total)
4:24 IM THE ONLY PERSON WHO SPOTTED THAT
What about battery drain? Ipad 5 was terrible in this topic. What do you mean guys?
Really? I got the air 5 for my nephews and the battery is great.
@@TrinhNguyen-sh4fj Yes it is. Check here in youtube to write into search ipad air 5 battery drain test. Much more worse than the others.
Agree on battery. I had 64gb. Hardly used it. Battery drained faster and charging took 2 hours
It’s not the display I have an issue with per say, it’s the refresh rate being limited to 60hz knowing damn well it can handle 120, pretty scummy move if u ask me
which one is better for me ? ( just for study i need )
air 5th 256gig or air 6th 128gig
now i have ipad 9thgen
My dilemma too. Todays sale is Pad Air 5 256gb for $550 or iPad Air 6 128gb for $569. Air 5 64gb is at $399 but 64gb is too small.
honestly if Air 6 upgraded the 60Hz from Air 5 i would trade in and upgrade in a beat. but it doesnt so good for my bank
The reason for the lower specs than the Pro is because…. It’s not Pro. And the price makes it fine.
For my first Ipad. Is ipad air 6 worth it? (Im a high school student)
100%
If you have the money of course.
I believe apple made a real mistake, high price and less upgrade, after a year, apple will realize the sale is far from good for ipad 6 air
I agree and this new iPad Air does not have much of an upgrade.
It would be compulsary buy if it had 90hz rate
Nah, im getting the air 5 lol
It’s down to 399
@@goyermanwhere?
@@Tssukiii Amazon had it that price last week for the 64gb
60 fps..... why?????
If you want the new apple pencil pro.
Yes it's worth.
900$ for 128GB is insane 😨that’s like the price of a 11 inch pro
@@jazlyn2721 Right, I am going to save up money for the ipad pro 13 m5. Because my wallet is almost empty this year. So I am skipping the m4.
Is it worth upgrading to the iPad Air 6 from the iPad Air 4?
Not really if the screen is 120Hz maybe but keep your iPad 2 years and buy 2026 the iPad Air 7
@@Trafod Thanks! That makes sense to me. I’ll wait for the 120.👍🏽
😮
So to get it right, you never hold a new version but somehow you think you can compare those two based on just a spec? LOL. Spammer.
Yeah, that's the same crap Apple said at it's launch event without knowing anything about there products.
This is crap. My Ipad pro 2018 it cost a third and for average use internet e-mail facetime etc you can't notice the difference that your processor is faster
And 120 hz ipad aor 6 more price 60 hz shane.
Apple exploits the sheep because they really are.
I have google pixel one
ipad air m1. foing for 400 on amazon
Amazon has 15 return policy. Best Buy has 60 day return policy with Plus membership. I'll buy at at Best buy
