This was a fun one! I'd love to see more videos where you take a look at older printers from the past - could be really interesting, especially for those who just got into the hobby.
Thanks! We’d love to do quick little demos and comparisons of all the printers!
Hi everyone, this is LONGER. We're thrilled that our product LK5 Pro made an appearance in @LoyalMoses's video. @LoyalMoses's videos are always fantastic, and we hope you enjoy this one too.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity! We look forward to working with you more. 💜
Running a good ol' ender 3 Pro too since 2 years, yet got it used so who knows the actual age of the thing. Likely in the 5+ years range. Has had all the upgrades you could think of; linear rails, new motherboard, klipper, Bambu style hotend, a direct drive extruder (humming bird) and much much more. Now it requires more service than not and I'm about to upgrade to the new Qidi Q1 Pro.
Maybe I'll dissect the oldie and do a complete DIY printer for fun
Very cool! Also, Q1 Pro is great!
I literally just bought this exact machine from eBay for $28.60. The only issue with it was the filament runout sensor which can be bypassed with a piece of wire. It runs very quietly. I noticed the included benchy was terrible as well. I am going to try something sliced later on.
Wo! $28?! You scored!
I am still rocking an ender 3 pro which I heavily modded over the years. (better motherboard, klipper, biqu h2 extruder etc). It has served me well but it's showing its age.
I must say, I really like what bambulab has done when it comes to printer design and I have been thinking that once they release a larger build volume, enclosed version that I will switch.
I just hope that this new trend doesn't kill the open source, reprap community. Pretty much all 3d printers have that community to thank for even being able to exist.
Awesome!!!
I have some Longer TPU filament because it was basically the cheapest available. Not sure who their supplier is, but it's quite good. Wonder if they will actually release a new FDM model to get back into the fight soon.
Some companies are leaving 3D printing, they just don't want to invest in what it will take to continue to be relevant - I'd love to see them stay but I can't be certain of that.
love this video too. its crazy to see the different aesthetics the companies are doing. but i feel if it does the job and works like it should then it dont need to look like a spaceship
Thanks!
Great printer still use mine daily.
Great to hear!
Cr-10 s5 still working! Used it for a large duck
Awesome!
I have a CR10s pro v1, with klipper, SKR board, direct extruder and lineal rails. And it prints as good as any modern printer.
Thanks for sharing
Ps also swapped glass plate for pei spring steel plate a must on any printer
Great idea
I have this printer. It was my first 3D printer, and I bought it back when it was first released. My only complaint is that prints stick to the glass so securely, I'm afraid of breaking it. I've since put a magnetic sheet and textured PEI plate on mine, problem solved. It's not fast, that's for sure. I don't print decorative stuff or trinkets...I print functional stuff almost exclusively. However, I can say that my prints are generally better than you got with that Benchy. I've since bought a Bambu Labs XC1, and that thing is great. But I'm hanging onto the LK5pro because of it's print envelope, until I find something newer that prints that big...perhaps a Sovol SV08, or an Elegoo Neptune 4 Max...but that doesn't cost as much as my XC1.
Thanks for sharing
My wife actually bought this for me for Christmas a while back. I upgraded the Boden setup to a swiss micro ng direct drive (cr-10). Put in the dual z screw, After finishing the cad design I'm actually printing a new hot end cover for bl touch and two fans on my bambú labs in abs for the bltouch upgrade. I definitely do not run faster than 40-50 or ringing is too bad on detailed parts with both Boden or the new swiss micro moving up to .6 to speed it up as well. Doesn't compare to p1s quality no matter what you do to it but good for really big functional prints like a full size weeping angel concrete mold for garden. Just don't blink...
Awesome!!!
I owned 2 of those… they actually printed very well… I upgraded them to dual z… there was no auto leveling until I added the bl touch. But you need to do your PID tuning and set your esteps for proper extrusion
I’ve seen some great prints over the years from them, so I know it can print better!
It actually is crazy that machines started to actually prioritize aesthetic after Bambulab.
Like there's a huge difference between the original ender 3 and its V3 in terms of design
So true! So much has changed in just the past couple of years.
Just wait a couple months better machines will be flying of( the assembly lines of 3d printer factories.
There’s only gonna be more innovation not less
@LoyalMoses
@@LoyalMoses That's the one thing I nitpicked about the original printers is that they all look a bit tacky/ too diy like.
If you don't mind looks sure it's not bad. But I am an artist and I'd rather have a machine that fits the aesthetic of my home rather than a sore sight of a skeleton of a computer.
I had a CR-10 v2 which i tossed and still have Sunlu S8 which is soon to follow it. Not using another glass bed ever again.
Flexible PEI for the win!
Wondering if it is possible to run this printer off a Sonic Pad? Could be a great combo.
I am sure it’s possible!
Over the years 3d printing and printers have changed in many ways. Prusa gave you reliability, creality gave you accessibility with price, voron gave speed and everything else was just iterations of the same giving steps in development.
Then came bambu lab. Nothing really new but what an impact on the 3d printing world. Bambu lab took a geeky technology and turned it into a near perfect home appliance system and pushed the boundary with multi material AMS.
I have a creality ender 3 s1 (stock) and it prints great and sat next to it is a Bambu lab A1 (with new bed fitted) and though similar as bed slingers they are worlds apart in operation experience and of course speed. But both work great, I still use both side by side but what a leap in just a short time.
We should be thanking Bambu labs every day, not because of the printers and slicer they have given us but by what they have made other manufacturers produce in the last 12 months.
wow I would love to have started 3d printing today instead of years ago, can’t wait to see what comes next 🤯
Thanks for sharing!
My original ender 3 is still going strong, all though I have replaced the mainboard and added a CR touch
Awesome!
@@LoyalMoses I am now looking to upgrade to a Bambu A1 because the ender 3 is just slow and I can’t really get around 8 hour print times for basic designs
Ender 3 v2 and tronyxy Gemini s idex... Just got both and trying to iron out the kinks...
Awesome!
I'm still using 2 Anycubic Mega S that must be 5 or 6 years old? Sure they've had lots of upgrades.
The worst part of the old printers is spending weeks and heaps of filament getting them dialed in.
But now, they just keep chugging along. The hardest-worked one will be retired in the next few months though.
I totally get that!!!
neptune 4 plus but saving up for bambu lab a1 mini
Awesome machine!
The resolution issues could be caused by the way the gcode was encoded my the slicer and the resolution level it was assigned.
I meant to write by the slicer.
Very strange for the default print to be this way! I was a little sad when I saw it!
i have an ender 3 pro and i still print with and an ender 3 s1 plus that again prints every day, then go to an elegoo neptune 4 max that is way different, but all printers i have print about the same quality, ender 3 is slower and then is goes up from there with the elegoo printing the fastest, but i use them all every day
Thanks for sharing!
SV07+ --- Similar price, and one of the better printers out there
Cool!
My dad literly brought one 11 days ago
Awesome. How’s he liking it?
Looks like my CR-6 Max.
Such a common build style!
I think it's sad that most company went the way of re-inventing the wheels every year with their printer's design and parts. We sadly left the mantra of reprap and went the closed en proprietary way of doing things. Printers are less and less upgradable and Prussa remain's the only choice in that regard. I'm still running the Ender 3 V2 but right now it's printingg at KE speed and acceleration. It took some thinkerring and upgrades but in the end i kept it alive and away from a garbage can instead of outright buying new. This is my main grip with bambulab. Fabulous printers, but horrible mantra.
It’s the way of the world, there are open and closed solutions and a place for them both! Thank you for sharing.
tevo tarantula & saphir 5
Oh! That tarantula is a popular machine! 💜
@@LoyalMoses I bought it from a closing company. Now even small shapes have been restored, I can print abs. Works well with TPU
My looks just like that one but smaller. Elegoo Neptune 3 (base model not pro, plus or max). I use it almost everyday and is what I am learning on.
That’s a great machine!!!
