- Video is from 1987. Filmed on an old Sony Camcorder in 8mm and transferred to VHS. Then recently digitized and edited with Pinnacle 22. Quality is pretty good considering the age. Please Like & Suscribe for more!
Thanks for the rewind
You forgot the Tornado Scare House ride and the indoor coaster Nightmare at Crackaxle Canyon. Both were located in the Ghost Town area. Though the building that housed the Nightmare still stands, but the coaster unfortunately doesn't. If you go on the Desperado Plunge Flume ride you can see through the open back door that it's no longer there inside. The coaster was actually pretty fun, but due to capacity issues the wait times were over lengthy (signs posted at each point 1 hour wait - 2 hour wait). And now the Alpine Bobsled is on the chop block, but the Bobcat coaster looks pretty cool.
Grew up going there every summer for my father's company picnic. Great memories
Thank you for the memories. The rainbow was awesome.🌈
What Great Memories! My family went there many times in the 60's and 70's.
Glad you enjoyed the memories of your family visits through this video. Makes it all worthwhile for me.
The Rainbow Ride was a staple of I-87 north. We lost an icon when that was decommissioned.
Before the rainbow it was the screamer
Nice.. sweet dreams are made of that.. goodnight , I'll remember it always
Started going to Lake George 1981, with my X wives family when we were dating, lots of changes, Water park is gone too, Gaslight Village, gone, when Charlie Wood sold the parks, everything changed
I remember so many of these! Thanks for sharing 😄
Thanks for sharing, sadly the Alpine bobsled can be added to this list.
I was obsessed with the mouse ride.
Whoa! The sea dragon was so fast back then! Now its just normal speed!
I used to love the sea dragon, especially sitting at one end or the other

You're right, John. Good memory. So much has been lost over the years. What a shame.
Wait they used to have an indoor coaster what happend
They scrapped it years ago. Think someone got hurt. The building is still there.
@@jacks-spot I always wondered what that building was it always looked out if place
@@jacks-spot It was the braking system for the ride and also the capacity issues. The braking issues made it so that only 2 people could ride instead of 4 at a time which made it literally a capacity nightmare
Miss the train ride behind the plunge ride. I think it was removed when that useless Nightmare building/coaster came in. What a shame because that train went through the cave and through an area designed just for it (like the wild west & desert theme) instead of just meandering through the park.
It was removed for the Canyon Blaster coaster that replaced the Tornado ride
it was removed for Canyon Blaster, but if you go on that ride you can see that train used as a scenery prop. Still not the same without that though. I miss it alot. Great memory from my childhood.
The Great Escape now lost the big wheel
Wow they got rid of the Spider, Rainbow, and Sea Dragon? Especially the Rainbow. First ride you saw at entry.
Annoys me no video footage of nightmare exist I also remember that train somehow . I'm 30 and I remember it
I miss the Tornado
That was a great one. I Remember it was refurbished once I think in the 1980's. Wonder if they saved any parts?
Back when the place meant something!
Was the Huss Skylab already at the park in 1987? czcams.com/video/qWMX7r0UOBo/video.html I assume not, as it is not featured in this video and was probably "hot" when it was at the park, so it might have been filmed.
Does anyone know what years they had the Skylab and the Rainbow (both from Huss) at the park?
I went there in this month, and I saw a purple dragon that was to the side next to the rails, wonder what that was :/
Me too!
thats popo the dragon, he was there for decoration at a certain spot and they moved him there to die.
Popo - Puff “The Magic’s” brother.
Puff was of course into marijuana - and an occasional mushroom here & there when he was with certain friends who were more into, and had access to, them.
Unfortunately, his younger brother Popo was into harder stuff like crack, and doing an entire 8-ball in a single evening. He was a regular attendee of all-night Rage Parties too.
He was rumored as having been into some dealing as well - offering thrills to kids, regardless of age - which led to many occasions the police showed up to question him at his residence (aka, lair), plus several other run-ins with the police elsewhere - ironic for someone named “Popo”.
The word on the street in Ghost Town is that the once celebrity dragon was Slain (“slayed”) by a knight in a drive-by lancing, but he most likely succumbed to his proclivities and O.D.’ed - evidenced by his current purple color, as he was orange when he was alive and walked and breathed fire among us.
Sad. A tale - and tail - as old as at least King Arthur.
Where's the rainbow
No there no more
Where WAS it? It was where Sasquatch is now.
The last time I've seen that roller coaster was when I rode it my first and only time.
I must have rode it 10 times the day I did this video. Was a lot of fun.
Hey buddy i know you buddy how are you doing this days
