  • The Great Escape Amusement Park as it was in 1987, formerly Storytown. Much has changed since '87!

    I was 8 when this was taken. I was a local at the time and this is the way I remember everything. I spent a lot of time here and it's so cool to go back in time like this. Thanks for posting this. My favourite was going to Martha's icecream across the street after going to the park. I miss upstate NY so much. I hope to move back one day. Great memories.

    Thanks for posting this. I just went there today, now I’m on youtube reminiscing about the way I remembered it when I was younger. It’s still fun but it has lost a lot of the character that it used to have. The country singing and sheriff vs cowboy outlaws show ect, ect. It’s all about crazy rides and $6 soda now, but that’s the way it goes I guess. Thanks again!

    I was there that summer! I was 13 and completely uninterested in the remnants of Storytown, but these days I'm amazed at how much is still there.

    its sad when a park takes away more than they add

    I totally forgot about the old cave & desert area with the other train ride they used to have. It also went into the cave. This was I think removed when the Nightmare building went in. Seems like it was so much more livelier back then because they had actual shows besides the high-dive act. The thrill rides were just a compliment to everything else there.

    Thanks for this great video!! I’m almost 21 and I love the 1980s and old history so I’m very happy to see this. And I finally found a video of that singing animal on stage. Also when the red shirt people were singing and performing who were they? And where did they perform??

      I know this performance was on the Red Garter Saloon stage in Ghost Town. I think the name of the group was "Celebration", but I'm not sure. Glad you enjoyed it. Have you seen my others form these old parks?

    Is this your family? Who are the people in the video and how old are they now?

    Was the Huss Skylab already at the park in 1987? czcams.com/video/qWMX7r0UOBo/video.html I assume not, as it is not featured in this video ans was probably "hot" when it was at the park, so it might have been filmed.
    Does anyone know what years they had the Skylab and the Rainbow (both from Huss) at the park?

      @bryanandlaurenandrews370 Před 2 lety

      I know both were operating 1990-2000. Skylab was my first upside down ride and on the same day I was lucky enough to be invited in the little control room and the operator allowed me to push the buttons for the rainbow ride!
