I've been on Cymbalta so long, I forget about my depression and mostly about my back pain.
It stopped working for me when it went generic. My doctor even said the generic doesn't work, but the akathesia, and brain damage makes it almost impossible to leave. Almost, I'm fortunately through with all prescriptions, and I'm pain and inflammation free since they got out of my system. The nervous system damage is the worst.

I’ve been on cymbalta for almost 2 months. I had the cymbalta shits for the first 3 weeks but overall it’s been greet for me. I was given it for fibro and ‘s improved my pain but the issues of my pain go deeper than what cymbalta can treat, but most importantly it’s been amazing for my mood which allows me to process my pain better.
Cymbalta has saved my life it worked so much better than Celexa and Prozac did for me. I'm grateful for this drug
Prozac has not worked and Pristiq stopped working. I need to ask my psychiatrist on Monday if I can take Cymbalta. I am exhausted and I can’t take this severe depression anymore.

I take this for my neuropathy and fibromyalgia and have been on it for years. I tried to get off of it but the pain was just too much. It does help me but honestly I don’t like to use meds other than natural remedies.
Kratom helped me to cover my pain when I stopped taking Cymbalta, High doses of opiates, Adderall, Benzodiazepines, and more. If taken properly, the natural substance is absolutely life saving, 1/2 tsp. works better on my pain than all the drugs listed above.
Same for me. Have TRIED to get off it 3 times. No withdrawal symptoms, but within a couple of days the pain comes back with a VENGEANCE.
Try taking Magnesium L-Threonate, it helps with the pain and brain fog but talk to your doctor first, it's best to be safe and not have any side effects if taken with any meds that you might be taking. Unlike other magnesium types out there this magnesium is easily absorbed. Animal research notes it may be the most effective type for increasing magnesium concentrations in brain cells. Some people say they take it at night right before bed and they're sleep is significantly improved.

This sounds like everything I was experiencing with Prozac. I was not a fan of the sweating.

How’d it go?
I’ve just been put on this and I’ve been one of the unlucky ones to experience every single side effect so far. It’s only been a week and a half so I’m really hoping I start to feel better soon. The sickness and nausea along with the dizziness is the worst 😢
Edit - 2 months later and I still suffer with severe nausea to the point I’ve lost almost a stone, but I’m too scared to come off it because of the side effects from withdrawal.

You are a lucky one. This drug destroyed seven years of my life. It will stop working, then it is hell to come off of. My psychiatrist said the generic never worked, and that was my experience. We really need to look into the placebo effect.
@@edie4321 So... your doctor said Cymbalta works but Duloxitne doesn't??? I was on the generic one and it was a "miracle"--for 3 whole weeks, then NOTHING but horrible side effects. I had such hope, only to be disappointed. 🥺

For many it is the most difficult drug to get off. For me my doctor put me into a protracted acute withdrawal syndrome (PAWS) for 3 years. Seriously seriously dangerous drug to get off. Suicide continues to rise here in Australia and so does the prescriptions of ssri and snri’s. This drug can take years to taper off but know ones talking about that yet. I wonder why ? 🤔

I agree that there is something more dangerous to this. I've been on it for years, and if I miss one single dose, my brain starts doing weird things. I start having these weird shock like vertigo symptoms that feel like my brain has been shook each time. I don't have severe pain, except the constant feeling of my brain going through what I imagine low voltage shocks feel like. Its very difficult to do anything when these are happening, because I feel dizzy and nauseated. I'm terrified to stop or taper off, as I'm on it for Fibro, but I'm terrified of the long term effects to by brain, or if its already caused some damage.
@@allthingstoi3117 I feel for you. I was put on it for FIBROMYALGIA too, but I can get through FM pain without fear of losing my mind. I have been off it for 4mos, my mind is clearer but I tire out easier than before this med. I'm more sensitive to weather changes, seem to have more Flare Ups than prior to med. Am drinking detox tea to get rid of any residual affects. I am not the same as before it-yet!
Is this medication safe to take at 17 weeks pregnant? I’m just wondering… my doctor gave it to me during my first trimester but now I’m wondering 💭 since I’m in my second trimester… I suffer from severe nerve issues in my legs etc
I’m so glad I waited out the initial side effects. It helped me so much with my pain and energy levels. It also helped my depression. But I still need to take gabapentin as well because it doesn’t remove all the pain.
How long did it take to get over the initial side effects?
@@trishareinhart1599 It was about 2 months. The hardest part was I lost my appetite and had a little nausea. Not enough to be sick, but food just didn’t look good. I lost weight which was nice but it’s good that it got better. Lol 😊
I stuck with it because it improved my pain and I had more energy. It was also a really good med for my major depressive disorder. It’s been better for me than any other antidepressant.
Hello! please tell me if your pain has gone away. After how many months of taking duloxetine and gabapentin did you feel relief? my doctor also prescribed me duloxetine, but it does not relieve my pain. I've been drinking for a month now. the doctor also plans to add gabapentin

Duloxetine alone would not be enough pain relief but it has helped with both pain and depression. Gabapentin has been the best pain reliever for my fibromyalgia pain. They both start off with some side effects but they have gone away completely for me. Gabapentin can make you feel loopy and makes it hard to remember things in the first month or two. This is where a lot of people give up on it bc it can make it hard to work but if you can just get through it, you should benefit from it. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. @@popsym9066 One more thing, Cymbalta can affect your appetite. You may find that you don’t have much of an appetite. That is a side effect that continues to this day but I’m ok with it because weight gain can add to the pain. It also helped a lot with the depression. Just wanted to add that side effect bc if you’re not expecting it, you may been like there’s something wrong and that you’re ill. That’s what I thought when i started losing weight. 😊🌸
I have taken cymbalta for 5 years for thoracic spine pain. I just weened off it and found within 2 weeks my pain is returning. I had little pain when weening even only taking a tiny dosage. Can someone does use just 5mgs daily if that does the job?

I don't know about the other person but I've been taking it for over a year now and haven't had any side effects. Everyone is different though
It’s definitely true. Liver damage is a very known problem with this medicine. It helps in some many other ways but just be aware and request test from doctor

I was recently prescribed Cymbalta but am wondering how taking this with Concerta can be beneficial if they're so contradicting to one another.

Maxed out at 120 mg per day. Still as depressed as h#ll but it works great for urinary stress incontinence.

Im wondering who no one is mentioning the ED side effects. It has ruined my performance in so many ways. Also, the weight gain and extreme fatigue. But, it has helped me a bunch with my panic, so it's a hard choice to choose from getting off of it and have panic and be able to get weight off or stay on it and suck up the side effects.
I took this once and it really knocked me down.. I had a hard time getting out of bed. I had to withdraw after a short time.

I’m a new subscriber of yours and I’m scared to death it’s been a trial and error with finding the right medications for me and my mental health I’m bipolar 1 and severe panic/anxiety disorder and PTSD with highs n lows of depression I’ve been newly prescribed yesterday the Cymbalta and then he put me on 20mg of Latuda can you please give me a response of the 20mg Latuda I’m scared to take it I wanna know more about it please and thank your for your helpful videos.

Latuda is considered to be an antipsychotic mediation that is FDA approved for bipolar depression and schizophrenia. Dosing is generally between 40-160 mg/day in adults. It should be taken with food (around 350 cal/day) because this helps with absorption of the medication.
The top side effects reported by those with bipolar disorder who are taking it as adjunctive therapy in clinical trials include nausea (15%), extrapyramidal symptoms (14%), somnolence (11%), and akathisia (11%). Generally, this medication is tolerated relatively well compared to other antipsychotic medication.

@@dralywood I’m Diagnosed Bipolar 1 and severe panic disorder/anxiety and PTSD N lastly I have situational depression we’re I’m happy one second n the next completely miserably depressed and hating life I’ve had so many trial and error with so many meds that I’ve been scared to even try the Latuda he started me at 20mg then Cymbalta 30mg. Delayed release capsules and I’ve been on 5mg Valium for my panic disorder/severe anxiety attacks do you think the dosages of the Latuda and the Cymbalta is gonna be fairly good for me I shouldn’t fear taking them? Any feedback is helpful and appreciated and what is delayed release capsules mean?
Absolutely the worst shit I've been on. I will never take this again. I've been off it for a year now and the nightmares won't stop. I had relatively normal dreams before I started this drug. Once I did I started experiencing sleep paralysis and lucid nightmares regurarly. My dreams became so vivid I would wake up screaming. Aside from this it made me feel extremely tired. I had a very hard time getting out of bed. I decided I had had enought and wanted to quit it. But oh god...I did not expect this to be so damn hard to quit. I went through intense withdraw symptoms that included headaches, nausea and an overall feeling of dispair and sadness. I wish psychiatrist were more honest about the dangers of antidepressants.
I am sorry about your experience with this medication. Yes, withdraw symptoms can be very brutal for some patients. I hope at this time the nightmares are calming down. I made a mini series on SSRI medications that addresses withdraw symptoms (Cymbalta is an SNRI medication but the principles are almost exactly that same). Please review that video and share it with anyone you think might benefit from it. I genuinely wish to present everyone with good reliable education they can count on before starting these medications. This includes side effects and withdraws. Thank you for sharing.
Pollyn, I relate too much to your experience. Thankfully I have been completely off this DRUG for 5 weeks. Still get a headache or a little dizzy. Seems to be clearing out of my system. I took it for FIBROMYALGIA. Now that pain has times when it's more intense than prior to being on cymbalta. But it's a BLESSINGS to have MY BRAIN feeling normal. I CANNOT IMAGINE ANYONE GETTING BENEFITS from this DRUG, but 8% say it helps. I NOW FEAR ALL NEW MEDICINES, like PTSD FEAR!!

I took this for PHN + FIBROMYALGIA. Had EVERY side effect except suicidal. It worked like a MIRACLE for THREE WEEKS!! AND was a NIGHTMARE TO GET OFF OF. I worked in a State Mental hospital for almost 18yrs. Now I sympathize with what the patients go through. I was only on ONE psychotropic med, feel bad for those who are on multiples. My late boyfriend was Bipolar, he hated all the different med cocktails they had him on. I also know it's why he felt everyone, including himself, would be better if he was gone. AND HE IS. I'm beginning to think the medications are too dangerous, especially when mixed. Professionals know "in therory' how these chemicals are SUPPOSED to work...but each brain is + reacts different. I think ALL Professionals should have to experience these drugs themselves, maybe they would understand Therory isn't always REALITY. Drug Companies are in it for PROFIT, not ultruistic reasons.

I have been taking Cymbalta 60 mg for almost 2 weeks and have been experiencing feelings of nervousness, kind of like I've had too much coffee (even though I'm avoiding caffeine right now). Is this something you've seen with your patients and does it typically go away with time?
Hey! Thanks for checking out this video and for the great question.
Some people who start this medication can have an activation effect- meaning that they possibly feel more on edge, irritable, anxious, etc. It is a very similar experience to having too much caffeine.
The reason behind this is likely the fact that Cymbalta affects norepinephrine in addition to serotonin. Norepinephrine is one of the neurotransmitters involved in the "fight or flight" response.
Generally, this gets better with time as one's body gets adjusted to the medication. However, if it persists and becomes intolerable, I will decrease the dose of the medication to reduce these unwanted effects, get one's system tolerating the lower dose for a little bit of time, and then retry going up to the original dose. Starting low and increasing slowly usually helps.
Make sure to talk to your doctor to see what would work best for you!

@@lkboynge521 don’t forget to read the list of side affects in the box, it’s huge and may take some time to read. Never believe a doctor when it comes to side affects. Side affects are very real and so is the withdrawals. Withdrawals is another thing you’ll find out Doctors don’t like to talk about and certainly can’t help you when things get bad. Hi I've had the same reaction it's making my anxiety and panic much worse I started on 60 mg last week and I hate it today I've taken none and can still feel like I'm over caffeinated and I don't drink coffee or energy drinks etc I speak to my dr later today but I want off it's horrible .

@@BjjW-sp3jx I'm starting to feel like 'MY normal' self. My last dose was end of Dec 2022. It felt like ALL my hormones were unbalanced, until about a month ago when I started seeing a knowledgeable Chiropractor. I've tried adding foods that help dopamine. I bought a gymnast mat & foam roller. The weather changes so drastically I needed SOMETHING I could do in-home. I felt emotionally EMPTY from cymbalta for 21mos!! -including the last 8mos with NO cymbalta at all. ALL my pains got WORSE before they started to improve. For me, it felt like cymbalta depleted my OWN serotonin+ that other 'feel good' hormones. I was beginning give up ever recovering from cymbalta. But I think my own Natural hormones are KICKING IN. How are you doing? Still taking it? Best wishes to you. Hang in & try different Therapies too. That's my story as of October 2023. Be safe. Discontinue off it SLOWLY.☮️
And as quirky as it sounds- I bought myself 2 new, good pillows for my bed. They really made an improvement of my sleep!! Bedding is important.😴
And I put boundries in place between my toxic sister+me. I learned she was a trigger for my stress. So, lots of little changes helped step by step. I learned not to be a 'people pleaser'- at the cost of my health. Baby steps...👍🏼👌🏻
@BjjW-sp3jx my last dose was Dec 29, 2022. It took 12 weeks for ME to feel like it was out of my brain. And I PERSONALLY feel it took many months for my hormones to reset. I still am trying to build back NATURAL hormones 2/16/24.
This drug shortly helped my pain, but the generic never worked. Coming off of it was the biggest nightmare. Drugs are just a temporary solution but their damage can last a lifetime. In my case, with all the drugs my doctor prescribed, It's a miracle I'm alive. No more drugs for me, and I've been inflammation free. My advanced arthritis has also disappeared. Also look into PSSD before taking.

@@tr6151, For one, I quit all prescription drugs using kratom. Then when I broke my wrist in 2019, I added a turmeric, ginger, black pepper to my daily routine. Not only did I not develop the arthritis suspected at age sixty, I reversed the early onset arthritis I had been diagnosed with at age 60. I wish you happy healing.

I was on it for less than 6mo. I felt like a zombi, numb, didnt want to exist, planted in my house unable leave or live life, I lost giving my son christmas he always had prior. I rapidly quit when i became pregnant and brain zaps went on for weeks.
That's how I felt before my Dr upped me to 90 mg. Now my house is clean, bed is made and I'm doing my hobbies again. Don't give up. You need to find the right dosage 🫴💊👄😊

I’ve been taking this for 3 years and I want to stop, but exactly 24 hours after my last dose the side effects start. It’s like it takes my brain a split second to catch up with my body’s movements. If I turn my head quickly I get very dizzy. I can’t work or drive if I don’t take it, and I kinda need to do that to y’know, pay bills and survive.
My personal anecdotal recommendation is to not start this medication.
Is your doctor helping you wean off of it? I don’t recommend cold turkey. 💙
@@Eileen064 I’m going to see a new dr in a few days and I will ask. Past 3 years have pretty much been a haze for me. Depression has 5x’d.
I will say that my lower back pain is basically gone, but I also stretch a lot on the advice of a physical therapist. I think both stretching and duloxetine help. Space between discs in lower back is small and nerves get pinched. Trying to strengthen my core to alleviate.
Depression tho..omg. Why do I even exist? Just trying to keep on fighting I guess.

Liver damage sounds like a pretty bad side effect. Was just prescribed tgus witch brought me here
This is the worst medicine I ever took in my life. I took one pill and that one pill made me super sick, I felt horrible. I had to call off work for a day I couldn't get out the bed. I never took it again. It took one week to give over the side effects of one pill. I can't imagine taking this medicine routinely. Horrible
Prescribed for pain at 16?
I was put on this drug- 'head med' for fibromyalgia. WORST MED I EVER TOOK. Out of 1yr- 52 weeks, I felt euphoric 3 weeks, then slept 90% of 2022. NO JOKE!! Now I need to build back muscles. I can handle fibromyalgia much easier than what this drug put me through. Scariest pill ever!!!!!!!
Then why you staid on it for 1 year? I mean you could stop taking it after coupels of mounts IF its not working?

When I first started and had those 3 good weeks, then it stopped- my doctor doubled the dose to 120mg, hoping it would work again. It didn't. Scariest Drug I ever took. It changed how I thought, felt- or rather stopped me from feeling. Psychotropic meds are NOTHING to fool with. And it's mostly pharmaceutical reps selling it to doctors. They don't WARN MDs about horrible side effects. They want to make a profit off those prescriptions. My doctor LEARNED from MY experience- not some seminar. No two brains work the same. Coming off it gave me 'brain zaps' and other unpleasant affects. Even after my last pill- it took 12 weeks for my brain to reset itself. Totally unbalanced all my hormones. But that's speaking only for myself. I haven't met ANYONE it helped. Made my granddaughter have suicidal thoughts in just 2 weeks. My sister tried it and quit after 5 days. They tell you "give it time for your brain to adjust & the side effects SHOULD decrease. It's trial & error.

Easy answer- it takes a long, slow time stepping down the dose GRADUALLY. Many weirder side effects- like 'brain zaps' & other unpleasant things. Harder to get off it than on the med- read many comments. There is even a Support Group online to help you get off it.

Prescribed for fibromyalgia like you. I feel like it took my life as I knew it. I didn't want to do anything anymore. I stayed at home in my bed on you tube or sleeping until my body became weak and overweight . My doctor does not want me off of it no matter how depressed I told him I was . I've stopped it anyway. The side effects are real ! Thank you for commenting. 🎉
My daughter has been on this for about 15 yrs now. Her partner made her get on drugs.
Side effects from pharmaceuticals are the 4th leading cause of death in the United States. I've been prescribed this but have decided not to fill the prescription.

It’s weird because my roommate and I have opposite reactions to antidepressants.
What works for me is awful for her and vice versa. I guess we’re all just made different.
Cymbalta has been a life saver for me, literally. Fibro sent me into a deep depression and it was the only med that could get me out of it.
I imagine that I will always be on it but I’m ok with it. The benefits outweigh the risks.
But it’s definitely not for everyone. 💙
That's very interesting and a reply I keep hearing, over and over. I'm very happy it's helping you. My wife is on Effexor now and is feeling very nice effects in her nerves and muscles. I am also feeling quite good, havng gone back on Viibryd. If its effects wane as they did in the past, I'm comfortable in at least trying Cymbalta.@@Eileen064

I had a NP put me on this prior to me having spinal fusion and let me tell you, the side effects and symptoms when going off it was not worth it! Worse drug I ever took in my life! The brain zaps were awful and literally lasted a year, and I only took this evil drug for 4 months.
I had same experience starting and stopping this med/drug. Everything I've read- is a 'guess' of the outcome. I personally was afraid of how it was affecting my brain. Once I knew I HAD TO GET OFF IT, I went through hell. Took 2mos after last dose for my brain-my mind to clear out. Absolutely the scariest medication I've ever experienced. 4 mos later, I still tire easily. Trying to detox my system.
My neurologist prescribed this medication to me haven’t taking it as of yet though Duloxetine 30mg wanted to try one pill of it a week ago.

This medicine had me walking a real ZOMBIE!! Soooo sleepy
for 2days couldn’t really get up out of my bed. Second morning side affects was horrible, so sick!! It took exactly 2 days for this medication to get out of my system people. Everyone is different when it comes to medication. I take Lamotrigine 200 ER ( extended relief ) at night before I go to bed now this medication I’m fine with. Duloxetine 30 mg this is for the “BIRDS” the birds won’t take it because they won’t be able to fly!! Best wishes for those are taking it. It’s all fine and DND until you’ve been on it so long and had it increased a number of times and it starts to lose its efficacy and you start to dwindle down per doctors order so that you can try a different medication because that is when the problem arrives once you’ve been on this medication for a long time several years Once you try to slowly taper off, it is in the books there have been countless cases of people who have lost their mind my mother being one of them a week after Christmas. She was delusional hallucinating super paranoid thought I was a care staff when she had been completely independent living in her own house doing her own thing was totally fine. Now she lives in a facility, do not take this drug please I’m begging you do not take this drug. It will ruin your whole entire life. Do not let your loved ones take this drug. I have an auto immune because of the stress of this put on me don’t take this drug.
Do not start this medication. My rheumatologist put me on it for my arthritis and come to find out it has done more damage than good. I deal with lesions on my brain I deal with epilepsy, small vessel, disease. I really thought what was going on in my head was due to the illnesses I deal with, and it was actually Cymbalta Major fatigue feeling outside of myself it was getting worse and worse I didn’t wanna go anywhere I didn’t wanna do anything and trying to come off of it. It’s just as bad I’m in my second week of trying to come off of it and it is horrible, the dizziness and nausea really feeling outside of myself like I’m floating. Do not get on this medication.

I would agree with you but we have three adopted grandchildren that’s biological mother used meth while pregnant. She has left these 3 beautiful kids with HUGE mental issues. Without their meds, a person can not live with them… they become out of control emotionally and behaviorally. Their brains have been affected majorly… no one could e around them without anti depressants and more.
