Lin was broken because of the way everyone around her treated her.
Her mother didn't tell her about her father up until korra asked about it. Toph treated her half sister too leniently. Toph went against her own teaching for her younger daughter. Tenzin broke up with her for someone else. Someone doesn't automatically become that much of a hardass.
Even then lin sacrificed herself for tenzin and his family and ended up losing her bending as a result of it.

With Korra, it didnt even feel possible. I remember not even being able to breathe as it was happening.
With Lin, it just felt like it fell into place. Like it was her time. Unstoppable. An incomparable crime to her talents as a bender only cemented by the buildup of the notes in the music.

I still think to this day that it would have been way more powerful to the show as a whole, if if they had made Amon’s powers permanent. As in absolutely no way they could get their bending back once it was taken.
Looking back, It would have made it so much more devastating and impactful. In hindsight, its like “Well, it didnt really matter in the end anyway, cause Korra can just Deus Ex Machina everyone’s bending back.”

You don't realize how broken and mentally and emotionally scarred Lin is until you think about it. She is physically scarred too, and before she forgave Su she had noone who cared about her. I recommend reading the Fandomentals article on Why Lin is the Unsung Hero. Really good.
Thanks for the recommendation! The framing of Lin's timeline just makes it so much more sad that she lost most of the stability in her life around the same time and since then, she became hard and guarded, but still fragile inside. Hands down one of the most complex and valuable LOK characters!

Zuckerman is an absolute music genius. I wish he was held to the same standard as Hans Zimmer and John Williams, his work on both the Avatar series was incredible. Hope we get him back for the Live Action remake.

Listening to this after I know about Lin's backstory, character, and ever inspiring courage and heroism made this song more beautiful and meaningful. Avatar Aang and Korra series both are perfect in their own way.

The worst part is, Lin wasn't even able to buy enough time for Tenzin and his family to get away. The Equalists still captured them... Despite her heroic sacrifice, she gambled it all and lost.

Lin has been one of my favourite characters right from the start, and when she lost her bending it really shook me. I was more shocked and hurt than when Amon took Korra's bending... And learning her backstory, she deserves so many apologies she never got... From Tenzin, Pema, Su, Toph, Korra,...
She is the unsung hero of this show, and she will always be my absolute favourite character... Listening to this I sit here sobbing because it is so intense and I see the whole scene play out in front of my eyes...

When I listen to this instrumental, I like to close my eyes and I imagine a war. Like that type of war in S4. Which seems impposible to win. But our heroes try their best and fight with all their heart and soul, ready to sacrifice their own lives for the good of the world. And then, when everything seems lost and hopless, with all their efforts, they manage to win the war. Then, in the last part of instrumental, our heroes look back for all the damages the war left behind and suffer because of the lost of their loved ones who didn't make it alive. But, despite their sadness and suffer, they're still happy because they could end that hell they gone through (and this is where the song ends too).

Mădălina Ciocan A feeling I too have. That is why I generally listen to osts and instrumental, because lyrics sometimes can't convey the sentiment of the music. Also hearing them again and again, the meaning and the story in your head evolves, that is limited with lyrics.
An instrumental music is slightly different for everyone because of individual experiences and that is what makes them great

Lin is a fare and square warrior while Su is like a snake tricky ninja style, that's why I like Lin much more than Su
That particular style of su reminds me of Azula, she too used to move swiftly. It's funny though, because in some ways the fight between Lin and su reminded me a bit of Zuko and Azula. I mean if you look closely at it, then you can see the similarities, Zuko and Lin both wanted to please their one parent, but no matter what they did, they didn't succeed at it. And Azula and Su always got what they wanted, plus their parent let them get away with a lot of things if not everything, but of course you can't compare them completely to one another since the dynamic between those two sibling pairs were different and unlike Azula, Su didn't have mental issues. Yet I can't help but spot the similarities between Zuko and Lin and Azula and Su.

It was devastating. She accepted the loss of her identity and powers to save those she loved. She is so protective over Korra and everyone, probably because she comes from a broken ish family where she couldn't prevent Su from making some bad decisions . Lin's protectiveness and sacrifices is what makes her my favorite character.

I really like Lynn because she is strong. All the people close to her hurt her a lot. Her mother, Tuff, did not tell her who her father was (probably Sokka), and she did not give her much, just teaching her earth and metal banding.
And her sister, who broke all the principles of the Piffion and put her mother and sister in a difficult situation. She didn't even apologize to Lin for causing her to disfigure her face. All this reflected her strong personality, which Tenzin could not stand and broke up with her.
To accumulate Lynn's wounds from her mother, her lover and her sister. Lin hasn't found anyone by her side all these years. She was floundering in her loneliness and wounds and couldn't move forward because of that.
In contrast to her mother and sister who went on with their lives as if she did not exist.
Tuff confined herself while maintaining occasional visits to her daughter Sue and had never visited Lynn for 30 years. And Sue, who got married and built with her husband and five children the city of Zaofu. Iron City. .
They didn't really care about Lynn.. However, she didn't hate them. Yes, she was angry at them, but she didn't really hate them, and in time of need she protected them until she lost her binding because of that.. She wasn't really selfish or cruel. All she wanted was for her to be recognized by her mother (her ideal) and for her sister to bear the consequences of her actions and to apologize sincerely.
It is true that Sue apologized, but what good of an apology after 30 years, as Lin who went to Zhao Fu in first place .. If Sue wanted Really reconciled with her sister, as she knows that Chef Lynn is in Republic City.. If you were really interested in me, you would create time and travel distances to meet me. And we didn't see that from .
as in their battle at Zhao Fu. Lynn was sick and wasn't in her full strength yet Sue used her full strength to fight her and hurt her physically and morally by telling her to about why tenzen broke up with her ... I really didn't like Lynn's ending in the series. She did not get what she deserved
Lin's father was a guy named Kanto but yeah, Lin is the unsung hero in this series absolutely 💔

Su is an actual unlikable piece of trash, I had no idea what they were trying to do with her character but she's no where as endearing as Lin.
She may be abrasive but damn it that woman was and is such a badass.
This soundtrack slaps all day everyday. I could listen to this forever and not get bored.
This series has had so many moments where the music has made a scene weigh much more harder then if it had generic music, especially when Lin loses her bending, she had grown to be one of my favorite character by that point so for the daughter of Toph (my favorite character from Atla) to lose her bending it was already sad, but then that string comes in and I instantly teared up, it was such a powerful moment with the slow mo and the music and the gravity of what had just happened that I couldn’t not tear up. GREAT score by the legend zuckerman. If not for him korra would not be as good
I think she and Tenzin were my favorite two characters from the show
they felt to so real, they made many mistakes and blunders but that humanized them a lot for me in a way, especially in tandem with their personalities

After watching LOK I have a hard time naming which character I like the most because there is hardly anyone I like at all. To be honest, the lavabending guy form the Red Lotus is my pick. He was honest and chill. Unlike anyone else. And there is also Avatar Wan.

انا حقا معجب بلين لانها قوية . جميع الاشخاص المقربين منها جرحوها كثيرا . والدتها تاف لم تقل لها من ابوها (من المرجح انه سوكا) كما انها لم تقدم لها كثير سواء تعليمها تسخير الارض و المعدن . و اختها التي خرقت جميع مبادئ ال بيفيون و وضعت امها وا اختها في وضع صعب . حتى انها لم تعتذر للين لتسببها في تشويه وجهها . كل هذا عكس شخصيتها القوية التي لم يتحملها تنزين و تركها . لتتراكم جروح لين من امها و حبيبها و اختها . لم تجد لين شخصا بجانبها طوال تلك السنوات . كانت تتخبط في وحدتها و جروحها و لم تستطع المضي قدما بسبب ذالك . على النقيض من امها و اختها اللذان استمرا بحياتهما كانها لم تكن موجودة. تاف اختلت بنفسها مع الحفاظ على زيارات لابنتها سو بين الحين و ولم تزر لين ابدا لل30 سنة. و سو التى تزوجت و قامت ببناء مع زوجها و ابنائها الخمسة مدينة زاوفو. المدينة الحديدية . . لم يكترثو حقا للين .. مع هذا لم تحقد عليهم .نعم غاضبة منهم لكن لم تكرهم حقا و في وقت الحاجة قامت بحمايتهم حتى انها خسرت قوة تسخير الارض بسبب ذالك .. لم تكن حقا انانية ولا قاسية . كل ما ارادته هو ان يتم الاعتراف بها من امها (مثلها الاعلى ) و ان تتحمل اختها نتيجة افعالها و ان تعتذر بصدق .. صحيح انا سو اعتذرت لكن ما فائدة اعتذار بعد 30 سنة كما ان لين من ذهبت لزاو فو .. لو ان سو ارادت فعلا تصالح مع اختها فهي تعرف ان شيف لين في ريبابليك سيتي .. لو حقا كنت مهتما بي لخلقت الوقت و قطعت المسافات لمقابلتي . و لم نرى ذالك من سو ... كما في معركتهم في زاو فو . كانت لين مريضة و لم تكن بقوتها الكاملة و مع ذالك سو استخدمت قوتها الكاملة لمحاربتها و اذيتها جسديا و معنويا باخبارها ان تنزين تركها ... حقا لم ترقني نهاية لين في المسلسل . فهي لم تاخذ حقها فعلا ..

It's a main theme that ties the entire score together.
Fluubs a lot of composers also like to have a “tag” a sequence that is present in all or most of their works to identify it as their own, kinda like a watermark for composers
Same thing goes with Ramin Djawadi, in game of thrones and westworld themes you can hear that violin part building up in tension in his every soundtrack. Same tunes played with violin etc. in light of the seven and westworld intro for example.
That part kind of reminds me of the Stark theme from Game of thrones
