You can really tell Steven Ogg doesn't like video games, calling them cartoons. But his acting in that video game is just as real as any other acting he has done.
Yeah he really just seemed rude and out of touch, here.
Yeah
Right? I think he must be annoyed that his most known role is a voice acting one so when asked to portray that irl on video he probably hates that, I know some actors hate only being known for a certain role but like that’s just how the business is, one role an actor can do can be much more successful than others to the point where people will only think of them as that character. Take the guy who played Eddie in the new season of stranger things, he’s going to just be seen as Eddie in any show he will do from now on due to how popular that show and character are. So I do in part get why Stephen might not be a huge fan of these but why accept the money and then just berate Hugo and not do the request properly that he got paid for, bit stupid really

Bro Easter egged the Easter egg 💀
Stephen Ogg has been like this since GTA 5 launched. Back then he was getting upset and being called a voice actor because they wore mo-cap suits and physically acted out the roles. People respected his wishes and called him an actor. I can also sort of see how he feels because you just call him Trevor rather than acknowledge him as Stephen first. Then also GTA5 made $10 billion and the main actors only made $55,000 per year with no residuals. Then imagine you are typecast as a character that has no further work to do.
BUT the fame he gained from GTA catapulted him into notoriety. Ned Luke said it best that he’d rather people mistake him as a voice actor or love his work as Michael than be completely unknown. Which is so true. Stephen Ogg was a nobody before this and because of GTA he got roles on Walking Dead and Better Call Saul.
If he thinks being a douche about the Trevor thing will get people to stop associating him with Trevor, sadly it’s just going to make people stop caring about him as ANY character and destroy future roles he may have gotten otherwise.
He needs to be more humble and respect video games. Especially seeing as GTA grossed more money than any MOVIE let alone video game. Guy needs to get with the times.
Boohoo, he got to play one of the BIGGEST ROLES IN HISTORY and is salty for being known for it. Can't stand these types. That said I do love his work and he got talent. But cmon, man needs to humble himself
I firmly agree, that was well said.
I feel this way towards Steve Blum. I only recognize him as *Sub Zero,* but I recognize that isn't the only role he has in terms of Voice Acting. Not sure how he is personally, in regards to being recognized as one character though.
Edit: Just realized that this may have nothing to do with the comment I replied to.

Agreed. If you're gonna do this without any specific boundaries people can't cross for you, then I think you should be obligated to do it whether you like it or not. This noticeable issue Steven has is only going to deter people from using him for Cameo.
Dude literally says he's an actor. Like someone pays you 140 dollars to act like a character. It's his literal job, if you don't want to play trevor anymore just stop doing cameo's
Not really pestering if he’s getting paid 🤷♂️. He coulda just declined and given the money back

I paid for all of them for a birthday and the worst one was probably Josh Keaton, but only because it was so short for the price.
Hell, people like Paul Eiding even put in Codec noises and music in the background and dressed up when I didnt even tell him too lmao.
I think that if your tired of doing the character, at least put in your description clearly that you won't be doing the character because your tired of them. I've seen plenty of people like that on Cameo, and while it's disappointing sometimes it's understandable.
Yeah Hugo asked for Trevor and not a monologue about being an actor whose tired of his biggest role. If he doesn't want to do Trevor, he should say so instead of doing hack job like this.
He's literally an actor. His job is to get paid to act as characters while absoluetely none of the characters exist in real life. It doesn't even matter if it's for an animated "cartoon"/game or not, he is not Steven Ogg in any of them. That's the whole point and the Cameo thing is no different you just pay him to act as a character and he gets upset. Absolutely disgusting
So basically, he becomes more and more like Trevor when he's angry / passive aggressive
having a legitimate breakdown mid cameo is crazy
All Ogg has to do is not take the job. But instead, he takes the money and metaphorically spits in your face because "I'm not a cartoon." Good guy, that Ogg

In my opinion fair enough if he doesn't want to portray himself as the "cartoon" because he might be worried about his career progression or some personal ethical reason. But the appropriate way to deal with this would be to respectfully reject the request and write a message about why that is, sort of like Ned Luke did. Him taking the money and then making a gloomy video with him being grumpy and ranting about the request (which he agreed to do!) is just a dick move to the requester, the potential person/people receiving the video, and doesn't do his reputation any favours either. That was so uncomfortable to watch, like what what is that logic?

I think what’s happened is, Steven used to be fine with being referred to as Trevor in the past (there are several videos of him acting like Trevor by request) but considering he’s still an Actor who is pursuing professional TV/Film work. I believe after GTA 5, he’s been subjected to type-cast and or isn’t being offered any roles because of his association with Trevor and I think that’s annoyed him.
Struggling Actors are struggling actors yk. But respect to the actors who portrayed Michael, Franklin, Lamar and Arthur because they have really seemed to love being recognised for their work.
He is ungrateful. The fact that he is even someone now to be typecasted or get few roles here and there is because he played trevor in GTA
Without gta 5 he would'nt be an actor

Personally, I think you're completely in the right here. I don't think Steven Ogg is offended by you in any way, but I can imagine how tired he is for such requests and for having this one role constantly coming back over and over again. Still, being annoyed by it isn't justified when you take over a hundred dollars to do it, so he should've just refused, even if he didn't explain the reason, because it would be the most polite thing to do.
" but I can imagine how tired he is for such requests and for having this one role constantly coming back over and over again" then he shouldn't run a fucking cameo then...
It's 100% on Steven. I get that he wants to be known for more than just Trevor, but there was no need to take a $140 cameo request as an insult. We know you're an actor and not really Trevor, the guy just wanted you to reprise the role for a minute.

@@SQOUREE he didn't ask a question though. It was a simple message he was supposed to deliver and could have just as easily declined
Agreed. But tbf, Steven Ogg is an active actor who likely wants to be recognized for more than just his work from 9 years ago on a popular game while Rob has quit acting a long time ago to pursue the life he wants, so he doesn't mind getting requests for a beloved work he was once a part of.

Ogg was very positive about Trevor in the first couple of years after GTA V. I was surprised to see this because my image of him was of someone who loved the role that made him a star. So we don't know if in say, 2 or 3 years Clark will also get sick of Arthur
Roger is fantastic, literally love how he just enjoys being recognized in general
It's funny to me because all he says is "I'm an actor" and yet refuses to do the acting that he was paid to do for these messages.
“be kind to others” right after all that.
He calls it a cartoon, but gta v is arguably his most amazing work as an actor that he's done.
He did an amazing job. Maybe too amazing for him to handle. The man will forever be recognized as Trevor by the fans. Of course it gets annoying, especially for an aspiring actor, but he really should appreciate the opportunity he was given, and the praise he gets from it. I wonder if he even knows how big of a phenomenon GTA is lol
He's never going to get a role as big as that, ever.
Also cartoons are 100% valid work and can be great showcases if an actor. Look at the late great Kevin Conroy. That man was the definitive Batman for multiple generations all with his voice. It's valid. Just because he doesn't value it doesn't mean anything

100% spot on
You're not the only one. He got that way with other people who mentioned Trevor too. He did a GTA Q&A with Michael and Franklin and he spent half the time telling people he's an actor and he is not Trevor. He tried convincing the crowd he is a normal person and nothing like his ingame character. But Michael exposed him. Michael said he would wear pink underwear and take off his pants on the set while they were working on GTA V.
he did that as a way of getting into character.
also, you're kind of proving his point by calling them "Michael" and "Franklin" instead of their actual names
The best solution is to enjoy the games, series and ignore the actors, they are paid what they work for, its not charity work.
@@TrexAintaChicken Because we have spent over 10 plus years only knowing these actors from the latest GTA game. a fundamental part of being an actor is being recognised as your most notable role
Steven was definitely out of line here. I understand the frustration an actor might go through mainly being known for a single role they played over a decade ago but if he really didn't feel comfortable with your message then he should of just declined to shoot the video and refunded you the money. Him doing this half assed cameo while basically belittling you was a dick thing to do

Steven Ogg's biggest role is Trevor and it's not close. Nobody really cares about Simon from TWD even though he did a pretty good job in that role.

Majority off gamers are young and annoying, He's most likely been asked to be trevor thousands of times until he's got burnt out
Without me knowing much about Steven Ogg as a person and actor, I think he might be tired of people seeing him as Trevor when he most likely wants to move on from it and be taken seriously as an actor. And that is totally understandable. To each their own and all that. Fortunately and unfortunately for him playing the character of Trevor is the best piece of acting he has ever done and it's very hard to not see the iconic Trevor Phillips when you see Steven Ogg, because they are so similar.
He should have declined this Cameo request and said he didn't want to do the role. That would be more than fair. To take the money, make an half-assed Cameo where you straight up mock the customer is a surefire way of making people get a bad taste in their mouth, and as an actor.... that's not a good move for your career.
I agree except about this being the best piece of acting he's ever done. I think you feel it's his best piece of acting and I would argue it's his most well-known role, but I don't think (opinion, I am not Steven Ogg) feels he's done yet; his best piece is the next project he's working on.
