Every time I saw your mock-up sketch it made me laugh like a 12 year old boy
Same, came here to see if I was the only one😆

easy fix for tracing your design to the sheet metal is to secure it loosly with super glue and spray paint the entire part. When you remove the 3d printed part, you are left with a perfect outline
it's a scam
I love the fact that you obviously went way out of your comfort zone to attempt this project, though I think you might need to revisit this one when you've researched and practiced better ways of punching, bending and cutting sheet metal. This piece unfortunately looks like it's had a hard life and it's only just been made.
Also, maybe steer clear of powered tools for such small detailed work. A Jewellers Saw and Drill might have helped get a cleaner result, with a punched notch being a possible way of getting that notch at the tip. Good luck with the next one!
That shape looks so familiar...

Not sure why you 3d printed the design, although a suggestion with super glue would be to rough up the 3d print a tiny bit with sandpaper first. Makes it stick 10x better. I'm all for 3d printing, but I don't think it was needed in this case.
Probably just wanted degreasing.

This was the video where I found you. I recently became a typewriter user, then fell into collecting. So awesome on what you did. I am going to start creating replacement parts for as many machines as I can.
I don't think anyone else has mentioned this but it would've been a cool opportunity to design a whole new part and make 2 of them so that they matched (like little swords, pointed arrows etc or even the original design).
When drilling those tiny holes in the finished piece, you can clamp it between to small pieces of wood and drill through that. It helps with keeping the material stable and won't bend. Great work as always.

Love that I found your channel because at my age I still need to learn and I love learning. To me, you are a genius. My head swirls!
That was a super jank repair. Didn't even try to cut the notch in the center and settled way too quickly.
I’m not gonna go that far but I might say that the notch would maybe be better as like a chisel hit, rather than an abrasive cut.
@@jeremyspecce I still think it's jank. There was a serious effort but settled way too quickly for the worst results.
something that would of made the marking easier is to place your pattern on top and Spray paint over and the perfect size is left behind
Should make this again but use a flat head screwdriver and hammer to make the indicating line 👌
On an MK binge, keep up the great work!

You were already in Fusion so... You could have used the sheet metal tools and sent this job to a local CNC fabricator. I can't imagine they would have charged more than $10.

I was so happy that you decided to make it from metal! 3D printing it would be a nightmare and I don't think that the end result would look nearly as good!
You mentioned not wanting to blow your circuit breaker, bc you would have to call your neighbor. To help prevent accidents and job delays they produce an In-line Ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) power strips. It’s basically an extension cord that prevents the inconvenience of stopping jobs or in this case disturbing your neighbors. I should note they are pretty affordable under 60 dollars. Let me know if this helps, best. (This was your last video with the pallet just wanted you to see it.)
I would not say that a GFCI would perform the duty you are describing. It would trip for ground faults, which is not the same as over-amping a breaker.

Love watching your videos! It remembers of the DIY videos from early CZcams for some reason, which I love :D
Great video Morley, love it. Good thing your Underwood is up to speed again now Cheers 🥂
Bought a planer at ct today was a clearance 85% off woop woop want to build myself a table got millions of pallets at work I’d never see myself sanding by sand a table fully haha seen your initial pallet table it got the wheel spinning I plan on building myself a few things night stands little couch table ends all kinds of things! Thx for the motivation you made it seem so easy haha now I’ll just have to play around with it this weekend, have a few laughs learning and making camping fire wood in the process haha cheers

Great fix for a 'need'. I need help. For years I have been trying to find a mold for reforming the tiny slivers of soap in shower. I don't like to waste anything. To combine them into a bigger piece. It has to be plastic to stay in the shower. It has to have a clamp that continuously keeps pressure on the soap bits as the humidity rises. I cannot figure this one out. (Yes, I know you can melt the pieces in a microwave to reform a bar. But the temperature for each soap is critical) Any ideas? Seems like a perfect project for 3D printing. Halves of the molds. Maybe a screw clamp?
Years ago I had this book of Chindogu (if you’ve never heard of them, it’s a rabbit hole worthy of falling into) that had that invention! Yes, essentially a plastic box with a screw clamp and plate on top. I can’t find it online at the moment but maybe you’ll have better luck!
@@MorleyKert Oh, This idea is just one of the many that I have had but cannot seem to solve. My other one is a spring clamp system that allows for infinite attachments. You know, those orange handled ones. Pony? I cannot weld otherwise I would attach bolts and attachment points.
should of used a chisel to punch the notch on the tip lol

One thing machinists and woodworkers do to get proper adhesion with super glue, is to put masking tape on both surfaces, and put the super glue on that.

This has got to be satire, right? 3D printed a 2D template? Why? Is this guy so ingrained in the maker culture he never considered to print out a paper template? Yes Fusion 360 can export 2D drawings too. He super glued his 3D template to sheet steel and tried to cut around it with shears? Then took to it with a Dremel with a big cutting disc, to engrave it?
This would be great comedy if it wasn't so genuinely bad.
To be honest this way the least satisfying repair on your channel

Yet you watched. Seems like a you problem.
I kind of agree. While it's not a *terrible* job, it's also not a great job. It's functional and for a first attempt it's good, and this machine is his own and just for personal use, so all that matters is that he's satisfied with it, but at the end of the video I thought "well, it works, but it looks nothing like the other indicator..."
