0:50 the original is more vaporwave than the vaporwave song
holy shit you're right. both are still good though ,___,
amazing proto-vaporwave track
water
Man it sounds like Chillwave lol
ya
One thing while watching these is that Michael Jackson songs are easy to vaporwave.
often times 80s music is chosen for vaporwave, whats more 80s than michael jackson?
+Finley Michaels You're right.
+Finley Michaels ihgtvrg
they're just that good
Isnt vaporwave just slow or sample the whole song 💀 shit easy in all the ways ...
Saint Pepsi always just sounds like he’s purposefully one-upping the sample... and he does a damn good job doing it
vaporwave is like being high while thinking back to the 80.s
When you drove a convertible on a highway with a beach on the left and music from the 90s blasting thru the radio.
great visual
Frank Weißenbach but are you a dog driving a car?
Don't forget the playstation 2! Only 80's kids will remember! 😃👌👌
Ping I hope you made a joke.
Ping Really? i was born in 01 and i remember the ps2
It's weird...
The originals do sound better most of the time, but sometimes I feel that, especially with Saint Pepsi's stuff, the vaporwave mixes seem to enhance their samples in a way that they sound more appealing than they should.
thats why it's called Future Funk
Ferra いらどこだ and blank banshee
glory puls i really dont liked blank banshee that much their music its like... when you buy a car on forza horizon and they show some takes with a music welp this is what i think
Saint Pepsi is great!
Blank Banshee's Teen Pregnancy was WAY better than the original
i like the little tribute to "Amen, Brother" at 2:15 because without that legendary break beat we wouldn't have a lot of excellent music genres. it's good to see this genre going back to it's roots.
sampling island sunrise is insulting, that shit was light-years ahead it's time
Light-years are for measuring distance.
Waterfront Dining is straight up garbage.
cut45 lol I think you accidentally insulted him. Gotta watch those double negatives.
He basically just rips off whatever he can get his hands on to flip tapes. A lot of his songs don't even have cuts, he just takes the whole song, slows it down, and that's it. Visit his whosampled page, it'll make you cry. He's part of a wave of artists that treat vaporwave like a business. Just churn out as much as you can so you can sell $10 tapes that cost you a dollar to make. And everyone who finds out where the samples came from gets immediately disillusioned from the genre. It's killing vapor.
There's also just no depth to his albums conceptually, they all just feel the same, same out of focus cover, same generic titles, but with nothing underneath it all, no commentary, just "these sound similar i guess".
cut45 They don't need anything done to them because they were already finished songs. Imagine you went to a museum and someone had just printed a smaller copy of Mona Lisa and just hung it up with a different title and their own name on it. Would you say, "Damn, their painting is really beautiful" or would you say, "Damn, the Mona Lisa is really beautiful, why'd they steal it?"
All the early stuff was more complex, then when people realized they could get popular and make money just doing the slowing down part, they threw everything else out the window. I make vaporwave as well, I've released on the same labels he has. I know vaporwave in and out. He ain't doin' much.
Seriously, look him up on whosampled. Apple Eyes is particularly egregious.
And I don't have a problem with people doing this, I have a problem with them taking credit for the music, putting it on spotify and collecting royalties, or just generally trying to make money off other people's shit. It goes against everything vaporwave is supposed to stand for.
Grahbird Who told you that? That's just not true at all.
My first album had a tape release, they made 25, kept 5 for personal copies, and sold the rest for $10 a piece. They made $150 and split it three ways between the two label guys and myself. And that album was shrinkwrapped and came with actual bonus items the label designed and sealed in their own packaging. It was professional looking as hell and cost them less than $2 a copy. Tapes are dirt cheap. Most of these labels aren't doing any of that shit and charging the same amount. The crazy thing is, the more you make _the cheaper they are_. You get huge discounts for orders of 100 and above (depending on where you go). Every time you see an edition of 100 sell out, that person just made at least $800 and that's if they didn't overcharge for shipping. That's why people release albums so often.
I just started my own label to release my stuff because I didn't like that way of doing things, I wanted to be able to make my own tapes, do them well and not have to worry about making money off of them for other people. I know the prices. This shit is highway robbery. They're basically punishing people for loving the genre enough to support it. Vaporwave has the lowest design quality of any genre I've ever seen, and yet somehow they also have the highest prices. I'm starting to move away from the genre because all the blogs and the review sites know this stuff and it's why they don't fuck with it. Vaporwave just looks like a scam to them. The people with all the power in the genre are ruining it for everyone else just so they can make a quick buck.
Blank banshee might actually be the one that puts more work into it
***** Just my impressions on this video
When I first found Vaporwave I thought they only sampled the vocal tracks from songs then added everything else too it. Even though I do like the vaporwave version better, there is a little bit of guilt cause of how it was made. At least Blank Banshee and MACROSS 82-99 stick to mostly just sampling with a few exceptions. And so far I haven't seen a Hong Kong Express song in this list, so my hope is that they are in the clear.
a lot of them add a thicker beat
And Saint Pepsi
how bout iacon?
michael jackson the goat
of aesthetics
@@Ghost-np6ww you know that's bullshit right?
@@honeyy9559 you know that it's not bullshit right?
@DualityXL believing lies, eh?
@@sillygoose635 Then where's the proof? Boomer
Madonna's live to tell is such a masterpiece.
first song original
i thought i got rick rolled
blank banshee 's teen pregnancy has also got a sample from the message, by grandmaster flash and the furious five
Also an Canadian TV series "DeGrassi Junior High" because of "I'm just a kid, It was just a little mistake"
The most sample drum beat ever the Winston amen, brother
Carlos Pacheco Yup
Carlos Pacheco agreed. The most sampled drum break in history
I thought it was james brown's funky drummer.
@@Iloveyou-dz7mq It is these guys don't know what they're talking about James Brown funky drummer is literally the most sampled song and Drumline in history
@@CirocObama.94 mmmm no, actually if it is amen brother, the most sampled drum sample and the most sampled song equally according to WhoSampled
When I heard Luxury Elite's Secret Lover at 1:28, I was already imagining how good Toshiki Kadomatsu's original version would sound. I wasn't disappointed. Thanks Vlad for the introduction to 80's Japanese artists like Junko Ohashi and Tatsuro Yamashita.
3:30 is probably the least amount of effort put into the edit
Random true they just lowered the fidelity a bit
Random Straight copied.
Yeah because the song is only 3 seconds long
Random 2:01 aswell
That's just chorus. If you actually listened to Better, it's extremely edited.
2:29 oh my fuck
it was a daytona arcade game sample the whole time lmao :)
Someone please make a vaporwave with Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up as sample.
I WILL MAKE FUTURE FUNK OUTTA IT
@@dankism9305 I'll bring my wave to you

I love both the Blank Banshee record and that Boards of Canada album and I had no idea that Banshee sampled that
Damn the Vaporwave is amazing :D
if your learn to slow down music . then u vape
Saint Pepsi is more nudisco/French house than vapor wave
He makes Future Funk, which is vaporwave + sidechaining I think
+CoolMan86 Gaming the song hit vibes fits more in the category. Similarly to the phantom's revenge or other disco house artist as myself.
+CoolMan86 Gaming also his song better
+Diego B-M However, Hit Vibes is still future funk
TokyoNights Official [CoolMan86 Gaming] lol no. that's not all we do.
BLESS THIS SERIES
I like this person's channel.... but why are he/she called Vladimir Putin?

hats off to the guy that vaporwaved Daytona USA.
In the Toshiki Kadomatsu song “Secret Lover” (1985), the Oberheim DMX and Yamaha DX7 internal patch “Electric Piano 1” were heard.
2:09 Well congrats Esprit, you managed to take a sample and make it damn near unrecognizable and cool to listen to. ^w^
2:54 This one, however... that's jarring.
Oh my god I love Michael Jackson's tunes. Human Nature is just so uplifting.
Thank you for this I really enjoyed it🥺
it's always kinda haunting seeing the wtc on and photographs/albums

I love this collection!
Nice work once again
I mean who hasn't sampled Amen Brother at this point
I love your videos! 💕
2:33まさかすぎる
damn, I love this series
Some of the vaporwaves just are just slowed down.
"just are just"
@@Ghost-np6ww it was a typo
if you listen to the other parts of the songs then it's not just slowing down the sample.
Thank you for these vids
Japanese + 80's + editing/slowing= Vaporware
If you loop 2:21 - 2:27 at 1.25 speed, you'll have your very own Jungle rhythm track.
For me, that sounds more a part of Sonic Héroes Soundtrack
monumental work
Some of these originals aren't 'originals' like the song "The Closer I Get To You.' Is actually preformed by Donny Hawthaway and Roberta Flack. And Junko Ohashi's song sounds a lot like Chaka Khan's 'What Cha Gonna Do For Me.'
If vaporwave is a sample of old songs, does that make Daft Punk is a vaporwave band too?
(...and of course they don't simply just slowing down the tempo)
Geddy Haslam everything would be considered vaporwave by your logic
Samples are everywhere in the music industry
No. There is a certain way Daft Punk samples. They prefer to add new instrumental elements and transitions to the sample in order to make it sound its own original song. The biggest example is Digital Love. It starts with the George Duke sample, next is choppy electronic sound, breaks into a jazzy piano bit, and ends with a synth-guitar solo. They combine a sample and mix it new stuff to make it into its own pop-ish style and not just a typical copy and paste sample. This also adds to the fact that they more then just French House. There's Post-Disco, Synth Pop, Tecno, etc.
i knew ye was always a vaprowave fan
@@noir269 you're goddamn right
THANK YOU!!!!
In the song “Island-Sunrise”, the Oberheim DMX and LinnDrum were heard.
Live to Tell is already vaporwave-esque. Slow and ambient with deep vocals and that unmistakable 80's flavour.
Lovin' all the future funk in this!
I've heard nearly all the originals but heard only a handful of the vaporwave. I think it's a good way to introduce people who love both to each other
great job :3
Ah, the good ol' drum break from Amen, Brother by the Winstons... or the Amen Break, as the cool kids call it.
Teen pregnancy also sampled some other stuff
These videos are introducing me to mj songs that I didn't even know existed
I LOVE V A P O R W A V E S

The song “our song” (2014) samples the instrumental version of the song “Whenever You Need Somebody” (1987).

3:52 Blank Banshee also sampled Grandmaster Flash and the furious five's "The message" for "Teen Pregnancy."

I like the music electronic dubstep dance house and Vaporwave
The Luxury Elite song “Our Song” contains one sample/samples of the instrumental version of the Rick Astley song “Whenever You Need Somebody”.
Blank Banshee - Teen Pregnancy also samples Grandmaster Flash's The Message

0:56 vaporwave
Saint Pepsi is one of my favs

*when your still looking for that song.... you know the song*
0:19 RICK ASTLEY YEA!!!
0:19 I thought Luxury Elite rickrolled us secretly for one second xD
Whoa! Flamingosis is so smooth, and the original is even slower.
Heres a tip, when EQing, turn down the low ends, then boost the high ends. Makes it sound much better
