Imelda Staunton was fantastic. But I don’t like the Royal family anymore and haven’t since a child in the 80s. I remember seeing a lot of severe cold body language and ignoring Charles did to Diana publicly. It reminded me of the nasty people I hated to be around myself. The ones that were cold and ignored certain people were always always much worse away from the public and in private. Then it started becoming public how much suffering they put Diana through. Wasn’t surprising at all by that point. What that family, the Commonwealth and colonialism has done to too many parts of the world including Canada is truly unbelievable too. After Diana, the Royal family only got worse and I have no doubt it will get even worse than Andrew eventually. Though they just might keep learning how to hide it all better as they did with Andrew for so long. They have a whole country that helps them after all. No one is above anyone in this world. It takes a world of people to make it go around. If you chose to be any kind of a leader then you’re ‘choosing’ to put whatever weight is required on your shoulders. As an adult, unless someone is pointing a gun at you, everyone has a choice to walk away from anything. The British Queen Elizabeth didn’t and she obviously made far too many severe mistakes as every British Royal head before has, and all of them will after. Forgiving is great but it’s also everyone’s choice to forgive. I’m English Canadian and don’t believe that sorry excuse of a family should ever be forgiven bc the world should learn a crucial lesson about what horrific atrocities happen when you try to control another country, race, sex, religion, spiritual beliefs, political beliefs, etc. They don’t even have the ability to give their own family members love, compassion, empathy, forgiveness, or anything else that requires keeping a family together and truly caring for one another. Nor do they have the ability to hold themselves accountable when it’s utterly necessary. They truly think they can do no wrong when they’ve done the absolute worst through history to this day and age. I wish this country was never a part of the Commonwealth or colonialism. Colonialism was lead by that family and they still lead in atrocities that still affect millions around the world including all of our Indigenous people here in Canada. I’m not proud whatsoever in being English or Canadian thanks to that family. But I’d feel a lot better if we cut ties with the Commonwealth and truly started to acknowledge those mistakes, atrocities and numerous types of genocide they caused, contributed to and still have been contributing to for so bloody long. Britain can have their horrific Royal Family but why does any other country have to put up with their BS still? Nope, Elizabeth, Charles, and now William do not deserve an ounce of compassion. That family should be abolished completely. They do not know how to lead anything. Never have and never will. All they do today is continue to contribute to a cold and evil ‘society’ aka mob mentality.

He was very well cast - has the mannerisms down perfectly.
I was very impressed with Harry. A small role, but he delivered - you can instantly recall the time when Harry was well-regarded, and why. I can remember an interview they did together while they were both still in the military and they were dissing each others branches of Service...funny as hell. How times change....

@@lewis7515 Yes, how the palace dealt with The Diana Phenomenon did need covering. But inside the family there were still a bunch of other three-dimensional adults with lives of their own for Peter Morgan to explore.
When "The Crown" covered the 1990s, we should have seen: the love child reveal that ended Anne's and Mark's marriage, how she grew to love Tim and had a secret affair before their love letters exposed them, how Andrew and Fergie were a good match but slowly grew apart because he was gone all the time. And the main character should still have been the Queen, leaning on her husband, mother, and sister as she dealt with each new blow to the monarchy's moral standing.
Behind the scenes, which is what Morgan is supposed to be dramatizing, there was so much more going on than just "Chuck & Di," which has been covered a thousand times over the years anyway. This show was a chance to look at all the other interesting stuff that happened, too.

Netflix made Claire Foy the true face of The Crown. Same as in the Part 1 trailer, Claire's acting even for these small parts in S6 still gives me chills. Can't wait for it!

Having just finished Part 1 last night, I was absolutely gutted seeing Diana pass away, especially with the fallout that happened afterwards. I will cherish this show because not only is it a visual masterpiece, it gives us insight into this family showing us that they too are human, providing us with powerful empathies and lessons along the way. I was 5 when Diana passed away and I felt I properly learned, respected and mourned her through this show. Can't believe it's almost over.
You do realise that this is fiction. There is no way anyone, other than those who were there, can know what went on behind closed doors. It's all just speculation.
The real windsors made it really hards to see them as humans, tho. It's probably not even their fault when all that pomp and circus eventually makes oneself forget that at the end of the day, they're just as damaged as everybody else. I never quite understood how there are still monarchs in the 21 century. I thought we as a species had evolved past the idea that there's some guy (or gal) that reigns by the grace of god^^

I was 15 when Princess Diana died and that was so shocking that it is one of the few news events that I can still remember exactly where I was when I first heard the news!
It’s a TV show, meant to entertain. Not a history lesson, intended to educate. Don’t get it twisted - this show is not a documentary and it is purposefully meant to tug at your heart strings. Watch the show for entertainment. Do your own research if you want to actually learn about how twisted the Royal Family really is. Far from Human.
I’m so fond of the series…incredible cast. Mesmerizing scenes and storyline.. I don’t think I’ll ever stop rewatching all the episodes. Peter Morgan wrote a masterpiece.

@@alanmckenna5608 name me one other person who at just 25 took up a job immediately after their father died, knowing they would not be able to give it up or gain a moments peace from the public eye for the rest of their life. 70 years she served her country, longer than many peoples lives, and worked until days before her death at 96, long past many peoples retirement age. Say what you want about the monarchy but no one can doubt she was an incredible monarch.

Victoria was a 3 season show on PBS based on the book by Daisy Goodwin. It was quite good.
They already had a show called young Victoria, but not as good as the crown

The Margaret passing episode will probably be more emotional than Diana’s passing.
Considering that is the queens coffin (when shes in all white), and hers in particular because of the royal staff being on it9only for monarchs), I imagine Elizabeth funeral will be the most emotional.
The QM only died 7 weeks after Margaret. Considering they are doing a bunch of sisterhood subplots between Margaret and Elizabeth, I'm pretty sure Margaret's depiction will be the sadder of the two.

I bought Part 1 of this final series was really well handled. Nothing awful at all in it.

Some touching moments in this season. Philip explaining to willliam about the complex relationship between father and son, the hug between charles and william . How complex can love,relationships be . The funeral discussion between philip and the queen and the last scene is the best one.
The trailer for pt 2 had me crying already, I can only imagine the emotional roller coaster I'll be riding while watching the final episodes in two weeks.
The sequence with the Queen and Princess Margaret really had me... I think they had such a profoundly close bond. And I've always liked Margaret. I have her famous bathtub photo framed in my own bathroom (because I just think it rocks lol) and I have another framed photo of her standing on my living room bar (I think she'd approve haha). I'm not ready to see her go in the series, but we all know that it's going to happen. And the Queen Mother, too. So many sad moments to come. But also bright spots.
Can't believe that one of my favourite shows is coming to an end. Season 6 first four episodes were fantastic. This show is an example of great writing, great execution and top production values. One of the gems of the entertainment industry ig.

I absolutely LOVE how the focus has shifted back to the queen, the crown in the second half of this season after what felt like Diana's show for the past 1.5 season! The Crown is back in its element! This looks EPIC!

Um, Diana will always be the main character as long as she's involved. That's why when the show got to her part of the story in season 4, 5 and 6 part 1, it was the Diana show because it really was. She took their shine since 1981. 😂😂😂😂😂😂

This is the best trailer I have seen all year!! The flashback section got me in tears 😭 and the breath at the end!!
Looks like the Queen is having a dream or out of world experience at the 2min mark, standing in front of her own coffin. Earlier in the trailer is showed the Queen reviewing her own funeral layout so there must be an episode foreshadowing her own mortality. The coffin at 1:07 was the Queen Mother's, but the one at 2:00 and 2.13 was the Queens as they had her own personal standard, crown, orb and sceptre on top (only reserved for the sovereign).

It has been the most incredible journey, every season of this show. Born English, The Crown taught me so much about both our own national history and the wider history of Britain diminishing in power and shrinking in importance. For example, I am not sure how many English people know about Aberfan.
I have just moved back to England after 10 years living in Scandinavia. The music that Rupert Gregson-Williams composed, was sublime. It conveys so many feelings of innocence, worry and exciting change.
Bravo.
I have to say I had never heard of Aberfan before the Crown. Since then having spoken to Welsh friends, they confirmed it was something that they were aware of /taught in school in Wales, but it seems not in England. The more I learnt about it and the way the families were treated, the more important I think it is for it to be taught/highlighted in the UK.
Can't help but think that "We're ready, ma'am" line to be very poignant. As if it's telling her that we're ready when she is to depart this world and embark on a new era.
P.S. I'm not even a Brit, but I'm in tears
I am watching this on the same evening that William & Catherine accompanied Charles & Camilla to the 2023 annual Diplomat's Christmas Banquet at Buckingham Palace, & they were PERFECT! Diana would have been SO PROUD of him! He has chosen his wife so wisely & has handled the taking up of the mantle with such aplomb & grace that she would know, in her soul, what an exceptional young man he has become. The Queen must have known, & his father must, too. And, I believe that he will break the cycle of "we don't do fathers & sons well in this family." The future of the UK is in very capable hands.

I am almost speechless and teary-eyed. In the best possible manner. The final episode was perfect in every way. In every way possible. Those last 8 minutes and 30 seconds…
May the Queen rest in eternal peace with our Lord Jesus. I cannot imagine how glad He is to have her home after the work and obedience she displayed during her time on this earth. She served the Lord well. Truly. And she was created for such a time. Truly born ready.
It’s an example for me in my walk in the faith. Being a disciple of Jesus and fulfilling what He has called me to fulfil. I hope to leave this earth dignified and having completed my will. To stand before Him and hear “well done my good and faithful servant.”
That ending is deeply personal to me. Incredibly personal and meaningful and significant to me. What a great way to end the series! God be glorified and may all be blessed.

It could be an out of this world experience or a dream, considering she was looking at her own funeral layout in the trailer as well. The coffin we see earlier in the trailer (01.07) was the Queen Mothers, as it's the Queen's mothers crown and standard.
I may well be wrong, but my guess is that it was a prep run. If you google "Operation London Bridge", you can see that plans had started in the 1960's and were updated three times a year. I don't know if Her Majesty herself participated in any of the planning sessions, but I'm sure she must at least have been consulted at times along the way.
It ends, as it began... with the heir to THE CROWN... the Queen preparing to depart. She discharged her dutty, and she was sublime doing it.
A remarcable woman.
Hopefully we'll get to see more of the Queen now that Diana's story is over 🙏

I feel I am so not prepared for the death of Princess Margaret... throughout all the seasons she had probably been my favourite person in the Crown and also someone I really identify with and something about seeing that episodes when she dies makes me so sad and I love how she says 'I will always be by your side' because its such a statement how devoted she was to her sister and also how her sister was devoted to her. And also Leslie Manville has been probably my favourite Margaret and it may seem controversial so sorry but that's how I feel I guess hahah
Manville is extraordinary, but they did all bring something unique and powerful to Margo. It's been quite a ride.
@@katashley1031 oh I agree fully, all actresses, Kirby, Carter and now Manville brought so much to Princess Margaret and I mean out of all of the real life characters those actresses helped me to really like Margo as a character due to the so many things she lived through through her life, honestly as I said I am so dreading the episode when we will actually see Margaret's funeral cause I just feel it will defo be seen in the last season
Her life must’ve gotten really boring in the 90s for her to get sidelined in the series, specifically seasons 5&6. No interesting stories they could’ve told? I miss when this show focused on Elizabeth and Margaret.
@@reannagordon I agree, like I'd have loved for them to give more screen time to Manville cause I feel they had such an awesome character, that Margaret was, in the show and they just sort of completely sidelined her in Seasons 5 and 6 which is a bit of a shame but then again I don't know if there was anything they could've thrown her into, maybe her health struggles would've been a thing but I guess for Margaret as you say, it must've gotten a bit boring in the 90's

Huh. I wasn't particularly fond of part 1 of this season, for a number of reasons, but primarily because it felt like the show had lost its focus, spending too much time on Diana and Dodi and not nearly enough on Elizabeth, Philip, Margaret, etc. It was ironic, because one of the best scenes was when Tony Blair came to Elizabeth and said that Diana had approached him about an official role, Elizabeth replied that Diana was learning what it was like to be out of the family as opposed to in. I wish they had gone with that theme more. But in any event, this trailer gives me hope that they will get back to business. Especially love that it looks like we'll get some more backstory with Claire Foy, Matt Smith, Vanessa Kirby, etc.
An explanation I see why some people weren't too crazy about this first half and basically Diane over taking the Crown show in general is because the show is technically a family saga. And with family sagas, there tends to be revolving of main characters. There is really no set in stone on who is the main character. As whoever was the main character like Queen Elizabeth for 1-2, but as the timeline goes onward, she does gradually become a supporting character as the new characters and the next generations take the fore front. And I think family saga won't be everyone's cup of tea because of not always following your favorite characters. It be seen as a negative for family sagas for some people. But I also think because come on, Diane. As far as I know, besides the show, and still to this day, everyone talks about her story. At that time period and before her death, she really overshadow the royal family. And so maybe in a way, that's why the show runner took that direction. Because in some truth, everyone had their interest on Diane and less interest on the royal family. But again, it's just a couple explanations though of what I'm seeing in the comments and about how the Queen having less screen time.
Oh my god! The way I screamed and sobbed when I saw the young Elizabeth and Philip, they are so dear to my heart and I was hoping that we get to see them in the final season once more and I couldn't be more happy❤
This show means so much to me, I'm gonna miss it terribly.

This show will always become my number one fav that Netflix ever produce!! until the end, the writing, cinematography, casting is the finest of all. thank you for giving us a different perspective of the most untouchable family on earth, and especially the life lesson along the way. Gosh the way this season made me feel about Charles and Harry 😓 Charles who became a disappointment as a son than as a husband than as a father all cause his parents barely showed any kind of parental affection and than there’s Harry he’s very much like Diana always trying to cheer up his brother the jolly one but always in shadow it’s like no one cares about him 😓
i really want as minimal Diana references as possible for this second half. The Crown basically becoming a one storyline show (a story that's already had numerous tellings and retellings) was a waste of screen time.
In my opinion the question: ,,And what about the life I put aside. The woman I put aside when I became queen?" was probably the hardest moment in maybe even the whole show. Elizabeth was queen for so long but under Elizabeth Regina there was still Elizabeth Windsor and maybe Claire said that she is gone, I don't quite believe that. She still was Elizabeth Windsor atleast by a bit

I couldn't be more happy they are focusing on Tony Blair. Coverage of the Prime Minister and the *politics* of this show have been all-too missed in the last season and a half. Tony Blair is one of the most important Prime Ministers of Queen Elizabeth's reign - who I'd argue is the magnum opus political figure of the show. It is imperative that his character recieves the focus he deserves.
I'm already screaming "ENCORE"! We need a season 7.

Imelda Staunton is a great actress. I remember I really hated her when she was cast as Pink-toaded Dolores Umbridge in the Harry Potter franchise. Now, I adore her as Queen Elizabeth II. Long live for her.
For those going on about Brexit, this show only goes up to 2005, and Brexit wasn’t a thing until 2016.
I thought it went up to 2012 and ended with one of her Jubilees. Either way, Megan and Brexit would not be included in this series because it ends before those events.

Well technically, they are just the distributor of the show, heavily on the marketing aspect. Which means, they had little to be part of the process of making the show in general. It's a British studio and Sony Pictures TV who has been doing the heavy work around. Netflix every once in a while does hand on productions with Netflix studios.
The whole thing seems like it’s how we WISH it was…making everyone seem so compassionate.
