Been reading moneyball and this move perfectly sums up that philosophy. They will be basing this decision purely on what they think it takes to accumulate points and will think he is the best to get points.
It's daft but he doesn't look the part and a cooler-looking manager like Alonso and Amorim would visually fit the role better but that's exactly the point. The value is not in the visual but in the numbers behind the person
Interesting to see what happens this summer, can see it being a development not an overhaul. The biggest thing will probably be Salah goes and over the next couple of seasons the squad will be developed a lot

This whole Arne Slot thing makes more sense to me than Amorim does. I'd say Edwards is looking at the whole package and Slot ticks more boxes than Amorim really when you look at it. Slot's camp & Dutch Press have stayed very quiet through these discussions and that will be important to LFC. Slot's character is obviously appealing to Edwards & Hughes and the discussions must have progressed well for him to now be considered as the main man. I, for one, would get right behind Slot if he comes......we all have to do that. Let's not forget, Klopp had come from the Bundesliga and had won a few things at Dortmund but was still relatively unproven.....look how that worked out for us and that was Edwards who instigated the Klopp signing. Let's see what happens but I'll support whoever it is....apart from Moaninho 🙂
Well tbh like most I would imagine, I initially knew little to nothing about either Amorim or Slot. But after reading numerous articles about both Bosses styles of play and putting aside what allegedly has gone on over last 36 hours or so, I much prefer Slot to become our new Gaffer.
I think he suits us much more than Amorim.
So to that end, I’m glad that Amorim or his agent has seemingly blown the chance to manage one of the biggest clubs in World football. Night all 👍🏻

Arne is our man. Alonso not ready and Amorim is greedy. I think we should give him a chance and back him. VVD might have a say in this appointment. All we need now is a Dutch Pedro!

Whoever the new manager is I personally think they should focus on developing our promising youth players above all else. We are not going to win the league, nor will FSG deliver in the transfer market so why not embrace what we have already? Most of our senior players will likely claim fatigue due to years of working under Klopp so give them a rest and prioritise young and hungry players who will fight for the badge. Bradley, Elliot, Quansah, Clark, Danns, Bajectic, Gordon.

Incredibly underwhelming, obviously we will back him but i’ll be honest i haven’t even heard of this slot and you are trying to fill shoes from one of the best in the world
Almost impossible to fill Klopp shoes, mainly due to his personality and character. But had you heard of Klopp before he came to LFC, many hadn't.
Agree it feels underwhelming as another unknown, but who else is there? Getting it wrong of course could see us end up like United, years of achieving nothing.

In this market you can't find an S class manager without serious baggage. Best you can do is get potential.
FSG for all their faults are vetting everyone in consideration.
However, I'll be pissed if they moved on from Amorim if it just came down to price.

If both Alonso and Amorim Didn’t want come to LFC so be it’s on them …Just hope this Slot bloke will be like us signing Robertson or Endo etc in that was a head scratcher at time and turned out to be Sunshine . The other thing is also watch what happens with Edwards and the CEO coz I think CEO feeling a bit miffed as the negotiations would have been done by Hogan (CEO) if Edwards is head of Football then Hogan’s job has relegated to admin office manager etc.

It’s very underwhelming very fsg type manager I think seems like a yes man for Edward’s and a manager that won’t ask for signings or demand any signings wouldn’t be surprised if we lose players and we don’t sign any players this summer. But staying positive and hope it all works out

For me FSG usually do their best work when they make underestimated signings/ appointments. I think people forget the reason we were so successful was that we had Edwards as our sporting director and he may be a higher role now but he will have a say surely. Looking back maybe Klopp was given the plaudits for signings which he didn’t deserve, signings like gakpo, gravenberch and author melon in these last few years since edwards left have been underwhelming. Paired with Van Dijk, Salah, Mane, Allison under Edwards. Have faith

Amorim can do one. I don't want someone who is so concerned with his pay packet. Never wanted him anyway. Makes me more gutted by the day that we're losing JK, when his last contract negotiations began all he was interested in was his coaches getting raises. Really not arsed now who we get, I feel sorry for them.
I don't think it's a wage issue , it seems to be a tactics and team issue , he would want to bring in at least 2 centre halves and also he has no need for our DM's. Amorim would need a major overhaul to play his style of football and Liverpool are definitely not keen on that.
