    I have a VERY optimistic feeling about Slot.
    He's down-to-earth, with big heart energy - like Kloppo and like Liverpool.
    He's somewhat of a "dark horse", so expectations won't be overwhelming, which will protect the players from unnecessary pressure.
    By all accounts, he's a tactically sound manager, with proven success. His 4-2-3-1 system would suit our current crop of players PERFECTLY.
    It's sad to farewell Klopp, but the club is in good hands. An injection of novelty, a fresh approach, new energy, players competing to impress the new boss. Exciting times ahead!

      @@dundalis I think it's clear the executive team were not prepared for post-Klopp when Klopp announced he would be leaving 2.5 years early. There was no long term plan for post-Klopp. Thus what has followed has been try and getting in the best manager available bringing in Edwards as damage control. If FSG had a list of 5 candidates they'd like for post-Klopp they could have just tried to bring one of them in earlier, without public rejection from Xabi Alonso etc. and this would be all achievable regardless of needing Edwards or anyone new really, but it looks like there was no plan - which is a big failure of FSG. Getting Slot looks like it was not planned...

He would have been an incredible right midfield like Beckham, but nowadays its more compact and intense in the middle of the pitch. TAA still better at RB

    • @undergradtutors9662
      @undergradtutors9662 Před 23 dny

      @@user-xx7tv7cc1y I've read what you've written and I hear you, but you're wrong
      Here's why:
      - Trent does not want to play another 6+ years at RB
      - The fans don't want Trent to play another 6 years at RB
      - Trent does not want to play out wide as a right midfielder or right back and run up and down the touch line, he wants to go centrally. Also Trent does not have the legs to do that out wide, De Bruyne couldn't do that or Mac Allister
      - Trent is not a RB, defensive actions and awareness which should come as common sense don't come to him in that position
      - Trent is a converted midfielder to right back, he was a central midfielder since a young age
      - Trent can learn to be good after 12 months playing as a midfielder, and will adapt he's never been given regular time there
      - Trent is a problem for Liverpool defensively at RB exposing the right hand side as a weakness which opponents attack
      - Did you see Trent in very central positions in the 17/18 season or 19/20> with very quick and good decision making during an attacking situation with say 5 players in the final third / around the box. There was no time in these situations but Trent like Salah and Mane, Firmino executed so well. Salah and Mane would break so fast and Trent would be so central making the perfect pass close to the box to be the 2nd pass away from an assist, he was unreal in these moments and with his touches
      - Trent can run with the ball as an 8 at his feet he's done it several times for England and other times he's played as a midfielder each time a surprise to see
      With an inverted full back like a Rico Lewis and a hybrid full back centre back like a Levi Colwill, Trent playing at the base of midfield 2 in a 4231, for the first season with Slot Liverpool could defend in a back 3 in possession with a Rico Lewis DM type player alongside him as well as Bajcetic as the other CM and a CAM ahead of him like Mac Allister, all of these central players will help Trent to perform when receiving it and Trent will deal with the compact situations. When he is the sole player with the responsibility to take the ball from the keeper lying very deep between the CB's he has had problems there he defo can improve on that but the situation would be different with this proposed 4231. In the second season with Slot Trent can play central with a wide full back that doesn't need to come centrally, he can become a self-sufficient reliable midfielder but he does need to run and tackle there, and I think he will be up for it especially if he is rotated. I love Trent and if he is so good for Liverpool centrally it will be huge for Liverpool

  • @jonho7
    @jonho7 Před 24 dny +1

    Watching clips of Feyenoord, looks like the number 10 role is huge in Slot’s system. It will mean having and out and out striker too. Lots of triangles and lay off in the central areas, off the striker of number 10.
    I’m surprised after all these years that Klopp never really went for a number 10, considering he had one for Dortmund. We went ultra workmanlike in midfield, even though we dominated a lot of games. We struggled to break down low blocks without having someone who could play in the hole.
    Maybe this is the evolution we needed.
    If Salah stays, I could actually see him revert to the number 10. Work tight spaces and not be asked to take people on. If Salah goes, it’s money in the bank to add a youthful, pacey winger. Szoboszlai as a number 10.
    With a double pivot, I can see Trent staying at right back, as he’ll have protection to allow him to roam…

  • @user-xx7tv7cc1y

    Amorim asked for 200k a week and LFC said no. Klopp is on 350k a week and was on 155k when he started, almost 10 years ago. The money LFC earn now are almost double what they earned when Klopp started. Asking for 200k was a perfectly reasonable (and actually pretty low). I honestly think the time is up for LFC now when it comes to surviving off paying pennies. Klopp paved the cracks with his exceptional coaching staff and tactical mindset. I can almost bet my house that in 5 years time we'll be asking ourselves what happened, and it will be entirely down to the fact that the penny spending cracks would have finally exploded the second Klopp stopped paving over them.

Too much pressing, not enough passing (which allows players to rest on the ball)...most players get worn out or injured by Feb....was that why LFC lost the title to Man City twice by one point? Once is an accident but twice becomes a fact...

    This has Fenway Sports Group written all over it. If John Henry think he don't have to overspend on acquisition, whether its new players or coaches, he will ALWAYS choose that route. We should not be surprised by now that this is what is actually happening. Here is what they are going for: They will try to use Pep Lijnders as swap-agreement "patsie" as Pep would still move back to Netherland and are looking for a job, so this is partially a "win/win/win" intended move by FSG and Edwards. FSG will this way get a lower priced- "top ranking" coach while they are at the same time saying "thank you for your services" and are helping Pep Lijnders getting quicker up in the leading saddle as a managing coach, as he was overdue ready to end his second-tear "violinist" career, wanting to step up becoming a main coach for a top tear team. At the same time FSG have something to "offer" Feyenoord in return for "stealing" their current successful coach. Now, whether we like the plotting and thinking behind this choice or not, is another question. So Arne Slot football tactics are in a fairly similar style as Liverpool so the thought behind this is also that it would be less cumbersome for the Liverpool squad to transfer to playing under his leadership. Here is what i ACTUALLY believe the non-FSG part of the Liverpool organization thinks about this whole process: I believe they wanted Alonzo or Amorim but FSG was never ready to offer that kind of money Amorim and Alonso would ask for a transfer to rainy Liverpool. So we are once again reminded that FSG will always be FSG and choose a lower priced non-spotlight candidate rather than a star coach. Mark my words. Amorim will become a East Londoner and become the new West Ham coach for the 24/25 season and Alonso will become the Real Madrid coach from the 25/26 season.

    Defo not gerrard. Hopefully it is a sign Edwards has done research and not just went for the obvious.

    Ill just be glad, whoever we get, to see something new. Klopp is beyond a legend, of course... But he is tired and, to be honest, I'm tired of Pep Ljinders tactics... We got stomped by Atalanta because they do man-marking? We never change what we do... There's no way we are getting the best out of this group of players. Imagine someone with some more imagination and what they would do with TAA.

    Chris and Josh for deep dive. Dan is good in other shows hes too similar to Josh in the way he talks fast. Chris is a more colourful counterpoint to Josh. Just my opinion

    Either give Ruben the money or convince Pep to come back. Outside of that I mean Tuchel has the pedigree. Xavi would be interesting.

    Not comfortable with this… Klopp has/had the gravitas to attract players when Michael Edwards wanted bargain basement shit. Klopp stood up to him to get VVD, Ali, Salah etc… fearing that Edwards has chosen a character that doesn’t have the charisma to entice players to Anfield

    I don't know if it's that accurate to claim Slot upset the established order at the Eredivisie, Ajax were already a mess the season he won it and now he's 9 points behind Bosz' PSV, not very impressive stuff. Also being repeatedly dumped out of Europe by Roma and finishing 3rd behind Sarri's Lazio in the CL group stage isn't anything to write home about.
