  • Today was a great day because we finally picked up the Engine for my Gheenoe. Decided to go with a 15hp Suzuki because of the light weight and fuel Injection. This Engine is the perfect engine for my gheenoe.

    Little tip. Think about the trailer too. I use to stop at a body of fresh water on my way home. I would back the boat in and fire it up while still strapped to the trailer. Engage the prop in reverse, and rinse the engine and trailer at the same time.

      Smokeydabee Charles Coleman Thanks for the tip! Yeah I've known some people like to dip their boat in fresh water after taking the boat out. I usually hose the boat and the trailer off very good afterwards though. Lol

      @@mjfollmer8506 if it is attached to you, it will cut the engine if you go overboard, as a experienced safetyboat driver at a major yacht club in south wales, It winds me up seeing videos of people not wearing their kill cord.

    I have to tell you guys... Been following you for a bit now, and enjoying your vids. I've been a Gheenoe fan for some time, and recently got a 2010 LT25. A couple of weeks later I got a Gheenoe 13. Just today I got off of offer up (that's a lotta f's) a 2016 Suzuki 9.9 for the 13. I live on the Bel Aire canal (C-1). The peacocks here are MONSTERS. Any time you want to go fishing down south in Cutler Bay, hit me up.

    Hey man I am about to purchase one of these bad boys, was your fuel tank in the rear, and how did you run the fuel hose? is there an opening in back? Any issues rubbing with the motor with no jackplate?

    • @WeekendPirate
      @WeekendPirate  Před 4 lety +1

      Matt Kursman Congrats on your soon to be purchase. I loved my Gheenoe but upgraded to a 17 foot center console. Honestly I kind of want to go back to something small and simple again. To answer your questions. My fuel tank was in the rear a 3 gallon would last all day and night. There is a small hole in the rear corner of the deck to run your fuel hose or wires through. Yeah when I was in skinny I would just pick my motor up and pole along with my make shift push pole.

      Weekend Pirate just put my deposit down on an LT10. Sid you think the 15hp motor was a bit much for the Gheenoe or did you have any problems with it?

    • @WeekendPirate
      @WeekendPirate  Před 4 lety +1

      Matt Kursman I Thought the 15 was a perfect combo I probably would have went with a 20hp if it was available. I had zero issues with the engine or anything else

    Thanks for the video. I am looking to buy a 15 hp Suzuki. I see you have an electric motor for trolling. What is the 15 hp like for trolling? Did you try it?

    • @WeekendPirate
      @WeekendPirate  Před 6 lety

      Mary O'Connor it's great for trolling. At idle speed its perfect for trolling small crank baits and spoons through all the canals around south Florida

    they didn’t give you any issues on putting a higher than recommended HP outboard on the gheenoe?

    • @WeekendPirate
      @WeekendPirate  Před 4 lety

      Leonard Del Campo I just bought the engine from them. They didn’t put it on my Gheenoe. I mounted and installed the engine. When I got home. It was put on the transom just so I could transport it home.

      @WeekendPirate  Před 6 lety +1

      waveali P We just sold the boat and engine to upgrade to something a little bigger. Had the engine for about 6 months. It never gave me problems. Always started first pull. Smooth, quiet, and fast. We loved it. We always flushed it after every use and did the first 20 hour oil change at 20hours. I think no matter the brand if you take care of it you will be happy

    • @WeekendPirate
      @WeekendPirate  Před 2 lety +1

      This was four years ago when boat and engine prices were much cheaper. At the time I think this engine was 2100 brand new. Now, due to inflation I’m assuming it’s probably 3k
