  • We always try to show you all the good, the bad, and the ugly of our daily lives and what goes on in the shop. Most days it's high energy, doing great things with great vehicles. Making cars trucks and faster cooler and more fun, but unfortunately some times there are hidden secrets to a job that you don't spot... until the landmine is beneath your feet!
In the previous video we got this Quigley van transported back to the shop after a very odd "shut off" issue while the new owner was enjoying it down in Southern Ohio. Having just gone through a huge amount of work including Bulletproof Diesel upgrades, new injectors, and other needed maintenance items we were more than a little surprised when the customer called us back with issues.
So in THIS video we tear down the Ford 6.0 Powerstroke to see just what exactly failed and maybe WHY it failed. In the world of diesel repair things can go badly in a big way right under your nose and unfortunately with this 4x4 van it seems like that's exactly the case. Unfortunately we really can't point a finger one way or another as to WHY this failure happened, it's something we've never seen before and frankly can't really explain.
But, in order to get this ultimate vanlife van back on the roads and OFF the roads it's time to build a whole new 6oh powerstroke for this monster!
Lucore Automotive is a small independent american small business located just outside Columbus Ohio. While we are a full service shop that maintains and repairs countless daily drivers we are also well known for our work on classics, race cars, and collector cars.
We would like to thank all of our friends, fans, follower, supporters, subscribers, and most importantly customers for being here with us! Without the wonderful people who let us work on their toys, and help their dreams come true we wouldn't be in business.

Agree, probably a wonky tune. Not sure why people are compelled to do that...

Could it have been showing good compression because of the oil leaking by the compression ring there by acting like a wet test?

The Struggle Bus is apparently making an extend tour of yer neck of the woods. You guys luck has been down, SRC the same and a few others I track in that area also banging heads against the wall on projects.
What great Karmic insult has your area committed my friend?? =x
With the issues I have heard about on those 6.0's you may want to try and get him into something a bit more reliable since it's upgrade time anyway. Not generally a Ford guy (unless it has a Chevy/Mopar engine and is under 2k#'s) so I don't know the choices... but I do know a good Cummins would probably be a relatively easy transplant. ;-)
I have heard Ford did hold the Cummins engine contract for a few years but I have never seen one in person. Perhaps there's factory adapters even?
