John James needles are my go-to, but I tend to get the gold plated. They just seem to slide through the fabric more smoothly, and the thread is much less likely to snag. They cost a little more, and the gold does eventually wear off, but they are worth it. That said, I am awaiting delivery on my first pack of Pat’s Favourite Needles.
With the Q-snaps, have you thought of combining them to make rectangular frames? I almost always combine the 8” and 11”, and find it the most convenient size to use. Also, I place a piece of fabric, such as a cut-up hanky, between my fabric and the clamps. This protects more delicate stitches such as metallics, and makes it easier to remove the clamps - you pull on the hanky, and the clamp just pops off, rather than pulling on the clamp.

I haven’t tried the gold plated ones, but I’d like to! Good advice on placing fabric in between it!!
That half stitch and your comment about doing what you want made me chuckle. I've been working on a folk art chicken in a dress and I made a mistake in her skirt. Instead of pulling out the (maybe 30) stitches, I redesigned the skirt which took me 5 times as long. I just hate pulling out stitches. 😝
Disappointed in CZcams. This did not show up in my subs but luckily I caught it on my home feed. Thanks for sharing your progress and I might consider creating my own document for project tracking.

Hey, I hear you on the stand. They're nice BUT, be sure to take into account where you want to stitch. If you want to stitch in your living room as you watch TV remember you'll be working on that project for a very long time. Will you and your family mind it being left out for months at a time, day in and day out. Will it be in the way? I'd like to get one, but sadly, I don't have the room - sigh. The Q-Snap may be all you need.
Just found your channel as I'm returning to stitching after a long break. I've been crocheting. I was using the Floss a way bags for my thread storage from years ago. I have been doing research on all the videos on thread storage and the drops you are making. I learned about using the drops if you tie it loose you can just pull one thread at a time and no removing the thread and re-tieing them onto the drops. But I am going to splurge and get the Annie's Thread Storage system. And keep my thread in a file box. Their are a lot of you tubers that have done the same basic thing but did it DIY like you are doing but put them on hanging folders and putting it in a file box, the thread hangs down and doesn't get tangled. Well any way I am going to check out the rest of your video's as this was the first one I've seen. I really enjoyed the visit. Have a good day and stay safe. 💜
I have explored thread drops now! I love them for hand dyed flosses especially.
Love seeing all of your beautiful projects and keep up the book talk. I’m curious to hear your thoughts on Girl, Woman, Other. I read it earlier this year. I started changing all my floss to thread drops about this time last year. I bought a few punches and used all my Christmas cards and calendar from last year to make tags. I bought little DMC numbered stickers to label them. I keep small rings with the floss for individual projects and then a large ring to store the extra unused floss. It’s fun to look at all the brightly colored tags and also a great way to keep those cards out of the landfill.

Another fun video. DMC needles are another brand this bend quite easily... which is surprising. Love all the projects that you're stitching on. =)
DMC needles are the worst. In my opinion they are not worth buying. They eye breaks after only a few uses. I do like the brand Hobby Lobby sells. I have never had a problem with them. They don't break or bend.

I also stitch with my q snap resting against my chest! I would like to try a stand at some point since I'm often bending a lot to see the holes in the linen but it's working out well for now. Love your videos!

Another great video! I agree on the needles from Hob Lob if you look at some of them in the eye
there seems like there are little burrs and it snags and shreds the threads, but because I have
a few packages of them in all the sizes I keep using them to avoid discarding them (waste of money, I'm cheap).
I thought about the thread drops also but worried about the paper tearing after using alot.

I recommend cardboard bobbins if you want to bobbinate. I don’t like the plastic bobbins and like you worry about the plastic. Otherwise I like the thread drops

What is difference between DMC floss vs conversion?
What I mean when I say DMC conversion is that I used DMC floss instead of the called for fancier floss!! 😃 lots of times patterns will have a “DMC conversion” listed so that you can choose to stitch it more budget friendly!
