Choosing the one gun to rule them all can be a challenge, That gun for me is a Glock 19. In this video I talk about all of the reasons that is the case, and I also give some other options, if Glock really just isn't your thing.

There's chronological age and biological age. Not the same thing. Chronological (yearly) age is just a very rough estimate of your "age". If that makes any sense. So you can be in your mid 40s amd look and feel like a guy in his mid 20s and a guy in his 20s can look and feel like a guy in his 50s. It's weird.

I could attest to the coolness of the magpul magwell. I have one on my 19. Its kinda hard to find any issues with it. Really cheap, helps with the reloads and blocks off the empty space on glocks that can cause you to get caught up during a reload. Doesn't add bulk really for CC. And it does help the grip. Vid would be cool.

Cool video. We all have our reasons for carrying what we carry daily. Some go for the smallest possible that hold the round count they want. Some (like me) goes with the biggest gun you can carry with the highest round count while still able to conceal. So it all depends on your body shape and make up. Personally, I carry a Canik Elite Combat with the 18 round mag and carry an extra 15 round mag with a +5 extension. My other favorite pistols are the Walther PPQ and PDP and Canik’s are basically Walther clones (although they have some upgrades)so the Canik is great for me. And MAN! What a trigger! Vedder makes a great IWB Light Tuck holster for it that I wear in the appendix position along with an IWB mag carrier. The Canik is very safe and reliable. I don’t hate Glocks at all. I really like them. But it’s just what works for each individual.

I share your sentiments concerning the quality and reliability of the handguns that you mentioned. And I agree with you about the quality of the S&W M&P 2.0. It is very accurate out of the box. And here is where I have a problem. It is impossible, I mean impossible, to find magazines for the M&P. S&W really dropped the ball with this. If the magazines that came with the pistol ever tear up, I will then have nothing more than an expensive paperweight. I will be sticking with the Glock from now on.

My first carry gun was a Para commander in 45ACP. Got tired of the weight and some reliability issues (even after gunsmithing work). I went with a P938. Eventually, I discovered the pros of Glock. Went with a G43 and now I also carry a G19, depending on the setting/day.
My reasoning for Glock, even over other nice polymer guns, is extremely similar to you. Reliability, minimalism, simplicity, durability, aftermarket support, weight, compatibility, etc.
I’ve found that the less comfortable seems to actually help my shooting...maybe something to do with the shape not melting into my hand 👍🤷‍♂️

Have an S3F threaded barrel on it and use magpul mags and out of 1000 rounds, had zero issues, FTF, FTE, etc. I like the glock 23 over 19 only because of the conversion. I have the ability to shoot two calibers, and the barrel is slightly (not by much) thicker when you use a 40-9 conversion barrel vs the standard 9mm barrel of 19/17. Don't know if that helps accuracy out at all, but the thing is a tack driver.

After doing my own research I noticed that most real gun fights there's an average of 10 to 15 shots fired. So I switched over to the glock 19 gen 3.

That's a highly politicized number. I would argue that in most self defense cases the mere presence of a firearm deters further aggression and doesn't get counted. Also, self defense involving police factors into that metric I believe. They tend to shoot significantly more than a civilian. Either way, nothing wrong with having extra, just in case.

I have to say, you sold me on the Glock 19.
    Now I'll explain.
I started off on a Gen3 Glock 20 in 10mm as my first experience shooting any Glock.
Later I was issued a Glock 17 Gen4 for work.
Eventually I purchased my own which I carried for 2yrs, and is now relegated to the safe and range time haha...
My EDC became the Glock 26 Gen4, with Pearce Grip extensions, Glock 17 mags with X-Grip adapters... you name it.
That went on for 5yrs... yep... took me a long time.
Finally in January of 2019 I purchased a Gen4 Glock 19. Upgraded to Tru-Glo TFX Pro sights, which I run on all my guns.
Switched to a Wheaton Arms Threaded Barrel so I could run a suppressor, and when I'm not running the can... well it's the same barrel length as the Glock 17 but only in regards to the barrel.
I was SLOW to discover that by the time I added Pearce Grip adapters which only gave me two extra rounds, I was 1/8th inch short of being a Glock 19... which is of course 15+1 rather than 12+1 🙄
Fast forward and I'm a missionary proclaiming the gospel of Glock 19 perfection for carry as ordained by God himself through Gaston Glock 😇
I still carry the G26 on occasion, but the Glock 19 is my absolute go-to, desert island gun with unlimited ammo available 😎
    Keep up the great content!
Eventually I'll learn my other lesson and discuss a holster from you.
    Cheers from Wetmore, Colorado!
(P.S. if you ever read this comment, I'll pay for ammo to shoot head to head with you on the range!)

The Glock grip angle is a deterrent to some, but I shoot it better. I think extra forward cant in the wrist allows for better recoil control. I love all reliable pistols, but I just keep coming back to Glock.

Went to the dark side about ten years ago and all of a sudden I have three generations of glocks. I occasionally think I might trade one but never do it. Right now tricking one out to shoot in tactical league at my shooting club without breaking the bank. Mostly carry Glock but definitely have some range favs but I think the 19 is the best, middle of the road carry weapon. The grip has never bothered me personally.

I can conceal a p365XL any time, while with a Glock 19 there are certain shirts I can’t conceal with to an acceptable level.
I have both; the XL can be made into 14+1 and is surprisingly MUCH smaller. The extra size of the glock makes it easier to operate.
While the sig is wonderfully small, it feels like a concealed carry gun, while the glock feels like a duty gun. Not sure how else to describe it.

Hey brother, I gotta say I also for my reasons decided to recently purchase a Glock 19 Gen 5. After getting my license in my state, and picking up a Tanfoglio Witness, a S&W MP Shield, and now a Glock 19 (on its way to my FFL right now), I decided for self defense (and my big ass hands haha) that a Glock 19 would be the best all around solution for my needs. I def see where you’re coming from and this was a great video, thanks!

The magazine compatibility was a deciding factor for me. I have a Glock 26 for pocket carry or for an IWB holster when I need something that will conceal in summer, and I got a 19 to match it. But I do have other makes and models for times when those suit the circumstances.

I watched this years ago when I was new to carrying. Had a px4 compact and like you thought Glocks were overrated and over priced and had no features. Your video a and video by John Lovell persuaded me towards Glock and I am glad it did. I have shared your video with many new gun owners or people wanting to carry a gun, especially recently with how the world is going. I definitely share the "reliability, weight, size, and 3rd party accessories argument all the time.

I carry an LCPII for pocket carrying which works for me because it just means I actually carry it everywhere. It's easy and I love the gun. However, I REALLY want a Glock 19 to keep at home and for the range, and maybe for carry. I have never shot one, but i've dry fired them a few times and I like how they fit in my hand and I love that they are so customizable.
Maybe someday I'll be able to allocate the $600 or so and pick one up, but I got a whole list of stuff that I need to buy as a new homeowner and a father.

2 years late to comment. I've always been a .45 guy. I tried a G30 back in the late 90's, hated the short grip. Stayed 1911 since then. Recently bought a G45 9mm and am sold on it for concealed carry. I love the full size frame and 4" barrel. just like my Kimber Pro Carry. 9mm carry ammo has come a long way recently and don't feel undergunned carrying it. I still love 1911s and one still resides next to my bed but I'm coming around, again, to Glock.

My first gun was the Glock 19 and love it still for home defense; accurate & reliable without failure in over 4,000 rounds. My last gun is the Glock 43X, with 2,000 rounds without failure. Both are fun to shoot. Put a 43X in your hands and shoot it. You’ll be surprised. My EDC however is the Taurus Spectrum. I have 2, both with over 2,500 rounds an no failures. Unlike most small 380’s the recoil is very manageable and it too is fun to shoot every week.

Im a Glock fan myself, particularly the model 23. The best guns in the world won’t help someone that lacks the will and skill to perform effectively with that firearm. A lot of people try to compensate with equipment instead of being mentally prepared and practiced.
