- Walking up to a new pond or lake is exciting, but where do you start? Many terms like structure, cover, point, jetty, rip rap, etc. are thrown around as points of interest. What do those terms really mean? How do you fish those different spots on your body of water?
I’m glad you’ve all been asking these questions! Today we’re talking about WOOD! Wood is a great piece of COVER for bass to hide in, around, or under. Wood may come in the form of submerged brush, laydown trees, or even sunken timber. I’ll discuss how I pick apart brush/wood to find those summer bass!

Working close first and then far seems so obvious once you explain it, but I totally would have been that dude that walks up and immediately casts waaaaaaaay out there right out of the gate. No longer! You have a nature gift as an educator. Maybe take up teaching if this feeshing thing don't work out.

I'm glad I watched this old viDebo. Great info for a bank angler. See wood, pitch to wood. And not casting way out there. I usually start fancasting from left to right. Close at first. If no bites, then go out further. Nice one at the end. Thanks Debo. ✌️🎣
This popped up in my feed again after watching it so long ago an I've got to thank you for this because it helped me tremendously. I've caught so many good Bass doing this even after getting congestive heart failure in the same year you released this, fast forward 6 months later I had to have my appendix removed an as soon as I was released from the hospital I hit the lake and caught a 3 pounder plus a couple 2 pounders.

Most of us don’t have boats, so we are bank fishers. Maybe one day a boat..., but until then... bank and brush it is!

They sell then in little packs. They just slide onto your line.

Thanks for watching man. I personally don't like braids around wood. If it gets stuck and frayed, it is bad news. I know some guys who won't throw anything but braid. All depends on preference though.

I know this is way late for a comment but... I noticed the Abu Garcia Veritas rod at the end of this video. I own one and love it. It is my frog rod. Any thoughts on the rods. Am currently looking for a rod to match to a Tatula CT.-- MH/F more than likely, been looking at St Croix Mojo Bass jig'n'worm or a Dobyn's Fury (spec'd as close to same just not up on their # system). Any one's input welcomed and thanks.

Hey man. A flipping hook is a heavy wire straight shank hook. It's heavy to put up to the abuse of dragging a fish through wood. Thanks for watching man.

Great vid I only have one bait caster rig it’s mh 7 ft fast 50lb braid I am new to bass fishing so do I need a bunch of different rods
Paris Grimes no man, start simple. That rig will work for now. It may be a little harder to pull a fish out with the MH rod. Just be mindful of where you put your bait! Master the basics first man!
I've spent a lot of my life bank fishing or wading small rivers. Most of that time I've used 2 rods, a medium/heavy baitcaster and a medium spinning rod. There's not much I couldn't do in freshwater with those two rods. Focus on learning to fish and worry about different rods once you get good at everything else. Tight lines!
Tried flipping into some lilys and got a heavy wire to the thumb 😂
