- Andrew performed the best ever rendition of Ave Maria on the AGT 2012 Semi Finals. The crowd was overwhelmingly enthusiastic; gave him a thunderous applause and standing ovation. However, the judges who praised him on his previous performance, had a shocking turn around and focused on commenting on Andrew's appearance instead of his amazing performance.

Quite unusual that he has never sung in from of anyone.
This guy is a gift to this earth. Stop talking smack about wether he's strait or not, doesn't matter. This guy just wants to be excepted for who he is. He got up the courage to audition for this show because of his voice and what makes him happy, that should be more then enough. He has outrageous amounts of talent, and should be shown much more respect for what he has shown us all on this show. Andrew, u are an inspiration.

It's Jan. 2022 now...and I still love his singing...he's a beautiful person too...I hope this message gets back to him some how..I think he would be so successful if he brings back the song SILENT LUCIDITY ...he would do such justice to it with his looks...high notes..and such an awesome voice!!! I would definitely buy a CD and I'm 73 and don't buy them but I would if he sang Silent Lucidity !!!

It doesn't really matter who he is married to, whoever knows him out there are so lucky. He is a breath of fresh air to all his fans and probably people who have never met him, a pure inspiration. ❤.

One of the best performances of the song, I've heard. I get what the judges are saying about the opera training, but he is terrific and the fact that he did this without years of formal training is incredible.
When oh when will people ( yes , you, Sharon!) learn it's not the appearance, it's the voice, and what a splendid voice it is too!
This is one of the reasons I have always disliked Share Ozbourne. How can she tell this kid to change his looks when she married one of the biggest freaks in the music business.

Andrew has a lovely voice and comes across as genuine and humble. True, he hasn't had voice training but he could do that and continue to develop his voice. He has talent!
How unprofessional can comments get? That was PERFECT. I think they were all referring to his trouble during practice trying to explain to the crew and band what he wanted to sound like. He is beautiful and so kind hearted and focused on that wonderful gift of his. I am one fan who feels absolutely thankful and privileged that he decided to share it with us.
um no Sharon, He does not have to remove his makeup, and we do take his singing seriously already. Andrew please continue with what you're doing, and stay yourself.

I think his style is unique. I go by a persons heart. Not their external appearance. It’s not what matters. I love him for who he is. He seems like a kind and sincere person. Extremely talented 🙂❤️
Sharon Osbourne's suggestion that Andrew de Leon take out his contacts and take off his makeup is beyond absurd given who her husband is and why we even know who she is. To quote the Prince of Darkness himself: 'Crazy babies never say die' ...or at least they shouldn't. Boo hiss, Sharon. Boo hiss.
I didn't think I'd ever lose respect for Sharron...so disappointed in her hypocrisy.
Also, do they not realize there are ALWAYS exceptions to "the rule", each and every one ever made? He has never had training, and yet he IS STILL THERE, back story or not. He could have kept his life etc., private. He didn't and now they want to backpedal, saying he can't "rely" on his story, to remove a part of who he is (we're ALL prone to enhance ourselves in one fashion or another), n then insinuate his lack of vocal training may be a deal breaker??? Constructive criticism is one thing, crushing a person's spirit for your own inability to relate, is not only unnecessary, but incredibly disgusting and makes them all internally ugly to me. No matter how much make-up Sharron has on (hypocrite) or who she's married to, no matter the designer clothes any of them wear, or angle they're filmed from, they all just became the type of ugly that $ can't make pretty again. Shame!!!

I feel the same. I was a little bit shocked at my reaction to Sharon's COMPLETE turn around. In a single instant, I lost every shred of respect for her. (and it's gotten worse since then. I actually have to fast forward through her comments on everyone....they are worth less than nothing)
First she tells him how great he is....and then emphatically says "YOU are an individual". THEN she says he's off and to change who he is....so much for individuality.
To add to that....does she really believe that changing his look is going to change his voice ? She says he sounded 'off'...and her solution was to change his look? Completely ridiculous.
When judges pull this kind of nonsense, they not only destroy their own credibility....they undermine the integrity of the whole show.
Andrew don't change who you are..a talented unique individual with a fantastic presence .
so basically they are telling this guy that he needs professional training, but never give a reason why. Then they tell him they're not really sure what to think because what he has chosen to do is not popular among the masses. Then they tell him to change the way he looks? It sounds like they don't like him because he is not popular in their mind, having nothing to do with talent . I'm glad he did not agree.

I've always dreamed of singing opera. To know Andrew taught himself to sing in that style truly blows me away. I actually like his unique look and believe with a bit of formal training he will be an even bigger star than he already is. And he definitely is already a star.

Just flawless, and once again I have cried. I know the end result off AGT, and still saddened by the comments of the judges that I have to stop the video at the end of the song. I am so glad that Andrew has gone on to release his Black Lights CD, which I have on both disc for my car, and Itunes/Ipod for everywhere else. Thanks for sharing this, I enjoy watching him sing.

what I really love about this guy is that he seems to embody or represent all. Male/female, dark light, a beautiful demon singing with the voice of an angel. I think he should not change his look at all, it works too well. His timing is off a little here or there, but hey, wow for self taught, a few little classes will do this guy wonders. Well done Andrew, it is a beautiful presentation.
There is another man like that as well. His name is Johnny Cash. Often times it's those with the least amount of support that wind up making the greatest impact to those around them. Am a little shocked about Sharon commenting on his looks considering her husband is Ozzy Osbourne. If someone's support is based off of how you look rather than who you are they aren't worth having. People who support your look rather than your talent aren't really fans and their opinions have no value. He didn't become who he is by listening to everyone else. He was his own person and I genuinely hope and pray he continues to do so because he is absolutely perfect in his authenticity
I actually don't like opera singers but I feel like when he sings that high songs it just sounds like he's normally singen. Don't know how to describe that feeling that his voice is that soft and perfect😍

They didn't say anything about the song, they didn't say anything about the execution, they barely said anything about what was going on in that moment at all. He was eliminated because he didn't have any training. Bullshit.

Andrew....I learned of/discovered your talent a couple of years after the fact, when it was posted on Facebook, as I don't watch that that particular TV show, but I must comment here that THAT is the most B E A U T I F U L rendition of Ave Maria that I have ever, ever heard!!
Also, when I first heard this, especially considering Andrew's trepidation in advance, I thought he just completely NAILED it in this performance and was AMAZED by it, and to hear a no-talent like Stern in any way denigrate it, makes me so damn MAD!!!

I think this was his best performance on AGT. He was terrific. I see what Howard and Howie mean about a lack of training. Opera singers do train for years. I would be afraid that he would severely strain his vocal chords. It is much much harder than pop singing from what I understand. His years of practice in his room surely helped. Sharon should not have said that when she is married to Ozzie, for goodness sake. Andrew's look made him unique. His talent is undeniable. If he loses his ability to sing opera he can sing rock and pop.
I wouldn't say the part about vocal cord straining! I saw an episode of Figure it Out where one kid said he was a "Self Taught Opera Soloist"!
@@Amelia4111 I am basing my opinion partly on the cases of singers who have had to stop singing for periods of time to rest their vocal chords or to even have surgery, and what Anne Rice wrote about the intense training the castrati (male sopranos/eunuchs) went through in her novel "Cry to Heaven". She researched her historical novels, so I believe there was a lot of truth to that. Surely Howard and Howie are aware of this.

Opera singing is no joke and I love the fact he tried out and put in the effort to go forward which does show. With that being said with a few more lessons I dont doubt he will be a professional. On another note I think he should leave his style the way it is because I love how it throws people off when he begins to sing, it's so unexpected and does earn him respect😎
This is maybe the best rendition I have heard of this beautiful song. The only flaw was the end was a bit anticlimactic. His Amen should have been more powerful, rising on the last syllable and held out as long as possible. If he had done that it would have brought the house down! The ending is the most important part of a song its what people remember the most. The judges are full of crap completely. His voice is amazing he doesn't need any formal training formal training likely would likely just screw him up and his look adds to his image. Normal people do not stand out in a crowd. If you want fame and fortune you need to stand out!
I am still crying.... the Beauty of his voice! My God! He literally raises me up magically with those notes and his incredible voice!! I so pray he wins!! He'll be amazing and successful! WOW! Did I say this Guy is Phenomenal?? I HATE OPERA, but for some reason this young man has Moved me to a place where I want to search for translations of the Lyrics, and I HAVE to hear him AGAIN! i remember singing this for Music Ministry in my church and the week before, I told my pastor I was gonna do this song on inspiration by Andrew. He laughed and said, ''Great, but are you gonna dress up with mascara and all the fancy clothes as well?" Needless to say, I brought the congregation to their feet, to glorify God, not me!

I wish i could give Andrew a hug. The judges are telling him pretty much to change pretty much everything that makes him unique and stand out. Howard Stern, he made himself stand out by being one of the biggest pigs towards people especially handicapped and women on his show, Sharon is married to one of the most unique rocker in showbiz. Its just crazy crazy to me. I love that Andrew didn't listen to them.
