Near - Far - Far - Near Tension Relieving Suture Pattern (cadaveric specimen)

This tension relieving suture pattern aids in the accurate apposition of cut edges while at the same time taking tension off the cut edge in wounds under mild tension. It's placement perpendicular to a cut edge minimises interference of blood flow to the cut edge.
It is only appropriate in areas of slight excess tension on wound edges. Where there is excess tension at a wound edge then other methods of tension relieving will be necessary - e.g. tension relieving incisions, skin flaps, grafts etc. should be employed.
