I’ve never heard “ledge” used to mean the edge of a platform. A ledge is a specific piece of stage geometry that allows it to be grabbed, grants invincibility frames, etc, whereas “edge” is a more general term (e.g. “edge canceling”)
In my understanding there is ledge guarding and then there is Edge guarding. Edge guarding happens usually when you hit them before they get a chance to grab the stage. Ledge guarding is hitting them back off the stage once they have already grabbed stage amd try to get back up.

Yeah I don't understand why he even said that. I've never heard it to describe the edge of a platform. He also tried too hard to make jokes that weren't funny when we wanted to just get to the point of the video. I don't really like Proguides tbh I don't think their guides are that great.
My favorite edgeguard is pocketing ness and lucas's PK thunder using villager and watching them slowly fall to their death as I gently float away on my balloons.

Im getting pretty good at spiking with Mario, once managed to use a spike finish on a combo where they started at 0 percent, which i have never done before and it felt amazing.

All he has for recovery is 5 mid air jumps, down B that acts as a short teleport, neutral B, side B, and one of the longest range up B's in the game. And he can go under the stage and make it to the other side with every special. Or without any specials.

Not to mention in Brawl he could glide and then glide again with up B, Side B was a lot more safe and Down B travelled further.
The sickest edge guard I got was playing luigi on a stream, I already edgeguarded with Luigi’s down air and the roy was already dead, but to put more on it, I fully charged green missile and got a misfire.

I would always go for a stage spike as it is really satisfying.
Also, if your opponent is playing a character that has a recovery with a hitbox, you can counter that.

Coolest edge guards were either when I was playing younge link, I caught my brother jumping in and hit him with a fire arrow, short hop fire arrow, then up b. And then my other favorite happened against my other brother while I was playing ice climbers when I knocked someone off stage with popo and then caught his jump with nana fair while desynced. Still the most satisfying dunk imo

One of my favorite things to do to ike when he does his vertical recoveries, if I have a character with a counter I like to counter the sword that goes fling up and when ike flies up after his sword he gets smacked.
Best edgegaurd I've had. Get the Fed suck, spit them out, read the jump, spike at 15 and then spike again and make it back. So awesome.
I was playing Byleth against a Greninja in Kalos. When it was trying to recover, I intended to do a Side B, but since I was playing with the joycons, I accidentally Down B and managed to land it... It was so sweet.
Wii fit trainer.. I fair spiked at 0, then down air, then header spike all without coming back to stage or ledge. I have some cool Link clips, some hero shenanigans

The sickest edge guard I’ve ever done was myself and I died
1:00 watching roy hit king ddd in the middle of his upB made me realize i don't know how many recoveries work. I always thought Kingddd was invulnerable in his up B and I wouldn't have dared to hit him, I probably would have waited to punish his landing but that would have been much less effective.
It might be nice to watch a video explaining how to exploit all the recoveries of all the characters. I am sure that with such a large cast, there are many things that we dont know.
I don’t know if this is edgeguarding but I knock them off stage and if they try to jump back on I use a forward air chain because they can’t jump out now

I main Terry and bowser. With terry edge guarding is hard. But I know every input. Bowser is good overall. Bowser's edge guarding is broken. You can use forward air which kills at 50. And back air kills at 40. Plus I can go pretty far and still recover
I once landed like 5 shot puts in a row against an online k Rool as Mii brawler. It was pretty sick.

As cloud, I missed the FAir spike hitbox, but I accidentally footstooled them, but didn't realize it, I was up 1 stock so I used my Up B to self destruct and kill them.
TL:DR, I knocked the enemy off, footstooled them, and then used Cloud's Up B to kill.

Characters with 3-6 jumps and/or good recoveries (Jigglypuff, Kirby, Pit/Dark Pit, Charizard, Ridley, Snake, Mr.G&W, Duck Hunt, Isabelle, Villager, R.O.B, Pac-Man and Sonic) are perfect for Edgeguarding
A quick suggestion, watch genesis 7 grand finals, whether that’s the regular set, or Marss review, watch it. The set is really good and extremely high level of play, both players are the best of the best with their characters, and they have amazing knowledge on each other. In Marss’s review, he says that he tries to ledge trap instead of edge guard because of Leo’s reversals, he knows that Leo is insanely good at recovering, and in a scenario where he is getting edge guarded, he can easily take advantage, take your stock instead, or trade stocks. Also Leo knows how zss can easily go high so he makes recovering really difficult in the set.
My sickest edgeguard happened yesterday when i killed my opponent with Jokers gun special to the SIDE blast zone. Well he was at like 200%

I feel real progamer cool when I go offstage with ZSS (or Squirtle) and someone tries recovering high and away and I still hit them with the Up B. I usually die too (unless it’s last stock) but it’s all about sending a message.
I don't have Smash Ultimate but in smash 64 (since I'm not that good) the sickest edgeguard I got was guarding it from Mario. From Up air then double jump to Fair then Dair to spike and going back (I died trying to get back)
The sickest Edge guard I ever pulled off was with the piranha plant when I threw my spikeball off the ledge and hit Falco off the stage.

Well, back when I was playing smash 4, I was Greninja and I used down air off stage and they didn’t tech, so off the ricochet off the stage I used down air again and that time it spiked

Best edge guard I've ever done was actually a reverse edge guard with Luigi against my friends jigglypuff. My friend knocked me off stage while they were at 16%, their last stock and I charged green missile to get close enough to recover. My friend jumped off stage and tried to throw out a Nair to catch me but miss timed it and got hit with the missile and missed his tech. I jumped grabbed ledge fast fell faired him under the stage and he missed his tech again and went right under me, so I just fast fell and spiked him straight down.
