- Today I fish several locations and shipwrecks in the hope of catching fish for food. Our stores of eating fish are getting low so it's time to restock the freezer. I share the techniques, methods and tackle I use also explaining what is happening as I do it. Every day at sea is a good day, but its better when it ends with some delicious fish to eat.

I admire your fishing skills but I feel very strongly that your teaching skills are even better! I get emotional watching you and James fishing. My dad, God rest his soul, brought me everywhere with him fishing, hunting and camping. He grew up on the ocean in the town of Penobscot, Maine and we went to sea in his boat, fishing and collecting shellfish. but, My favorite times were fishing with him for brook trout in our woodland streams, pitching a tent for the night and having a campfire. again, all the best

There is something existential I want to say about life, as I have experienced it. when my dad died, he was sad he didn't have more time to tell us how much he loved us. @@TheFishLocker
and this man was a beast, in his day, he would bundle us up and drag us on a sled through snowstorms, just for the experience.

Another great video its a special thing that you have passing on your skills knowledge and your personal integrity regarding fish handling and conservation by only taking enough. Brings back memories from way back of my late father teaching me to fish. Oh and what a tale young James has for his mates about the giant shark that stole his lure😂😂

One of your best videos yet. Well done James, a lot of old men haven't caught a fish that big! James might find it easier to have the rod under his left armpit when he's using a right hand wind multiplier, so his right arm is doing nothing but winding. When you only have small hands it's hard to clamp the rod and wind with the same arm.
We tried both sides. This was the most productive

I’ve been taking James on the boat with me since he was old enough to sit up on his own. You are going to love it.
James is growing well. Credit you you and his mother. Learning and yes sometimes trying to be too helpful but will get the routine soon enough and be able to judge when to chime in. Wonderful catch for the freezer. Full bellies for quite a while on that catch.

When I was James age I absolutely loved Xmas cuz all I asked for was fishing gear pretty much every year and I loved getting a catalogue from a fishing magazine and I'd spend hours checking stuff out, great fun, growing fast your lad..

Well done young James fished with my dad since a little boy 43 now he tough me everything about boats boat handling fishing we have been small boat fishing together for years think i was 8 years old when he first took me out on the boat still get excited to this day about getting the boat ready the day before and still have trouble sleeping the night before a days on the boat love the boating part as much as the fishing James will make a great fishing partner John and hes got a top dad and person to teach him the ropes great videos john always enjoy watching all the best lads

@@TheFishLocker it is John. definitely want to to get down your way next year going to tow the warrior down and have a week on the blue sharks instead of Norway love Norway been going since 2014 only time covid put a stop to it fished the halibut competition over in lofoton last year didn't go this year dad went back over for another go and thay one the competition it's a brilliant week. Have you been out there mate them halibut are something else and the big coalfish we were getting them to over 30 lbs in surface Popper's if you have a look on CZcams there's videos ov the massive coalfish smashing Popper's were only fishing with 40to80 grame spinning rods brilliant sport All the best John

I take my kid bank fishing on the Columbia river in washington state and make him wear a life preserver vest too.. Like John i always have to remind my son to step back from the edge..
It’s all about letting them learn by doing but also keeping them safe. 💙🎣
