Congratulations your Poison Ivy has evolved into a Queen Ivy!
An Ivysaur/Nidoqueen poke-fusion :p
I've had a long ongoing fan theory that Ivy's "final form" will happen when someone kills her, or more accurately kills her human self. Her connection to the green is easily strong enough that she could pull a Swamp Thing and spiritually merge with all plant life, and likely result in a huge power boost.
I'm growing tired of the Joker as he's been overused so hopefully DC will rest Joker for a bit and use other Batman villains that have been underutilized in recent years like Ivy. I don't mind if she becomes a villain again but I do hope she remains a complex character and that she doesn't become a boring one dimensional villain.
I like joker being an almost constant back ground threat, but rarely in the fore ground. But they are certainly over doing him right now.
For frick sake joker has two big story lines right now and another one in 2021 with bane. It would actually be cool to see a story with Clayface / Clayfaces, Ivy, scare crow, had hatter, or the riddler. Not everything has to be bane and joker. I hope dc makes a Batman Halloween special and we can get some scarecrow maybe?
@@paticakes2024 They were doing 2 or 3 issue stories in Detective comics before Joker war with non-joker related bad guys. I hope they return to that. The joker is over used. They even used him in the DC run.
blackrazer22 I completely agree that joker is over used and you can’t do that they should do something like back in the 90’s I think they stopped using him for like 3 years and then when he came back it was such a big deal and really exciting for everyone during that time. I’m not saying don’t use him for three years straight but just give some of the other villains besides joker and bane a chance to have there spot light. I could use a good riddler or mr freeze story right about now.
When the guy with the profile picture of the joker says enough with the joker, maybe it's time to let him go
If you're gonna have a themed Royal garb, at least make it green or red, so it compliments your skin tone, not clashes.
(I'll honestly be surprised if this will be her status quo for a bit, or its completely dropped by a new writer.)
It's most likely gonna be dropped I don't see this sticking.
ExeErdna you wish
Love Ivy, whether villain or anti-hero. Also, love the floral printed shirt, Sasha. 😁
I would like to see Ivy as a savvy business woman, perhaps dealing in bio-friendly chemicals, who is out to bankrupt all other businesses that threaten the environment.
That sounds like what Christopher Nolan would have done with her.
That'd be so cool! She'd rock a business suit.
Dang it,more Harley Quinn Episodes did approve that.
Interesting
With her powers she could probably make money grow on trees.
The differing "temperaments" queen ivy (the plant) has, depending on the climate, could metaphorically mirror Pamela's temperament while on and off with Harley. When she is out in the wild, unattached, she is at her highest villainous potential. But when she's potted, in a home so to speak, shes more of a character study or social commentary.
I love this angle! Maybe on and off again harley, ivy is better to show how ivy.is so similar to plant life, wild when unattended and helpful/wallflower when looked after
My favorite depiction of Ivy was a Batgirl story by Gail Simone called “When Pamela Gets Blue.” It essentially said that Ivy’s various depictions have to do mostly with what time of the year you encounter her. Big time seasonal affective disorder.
That goes along with Batman's theme of needing clinical psychiatric help. Batman himself is fearful of guns, the Dark, bats, family, commitment, failure, being unprepared/helpless, being inadequate, but he's mastered fear and copes by doing all that he can, using his fears as fuel and making villains and thugs afraid.
Ivy is another example of needing different mental struggles and imbalances represented in the rogues gallery.
Leo I think the implication of the story was that since she’s part plant, she has physiological/emotional responses to changes in season.
Just my two cents, the way they went about her name change was the equivalent to using a wet paper towel to pick up a spill.
There was no pomp there was no circumstance, there was no major event, there was no defining characteristic of the name change. It was the equivalent to a maladjusted named Eli changing his name to Hawk, then a month later changing his name to RZR (Razor), then three weeks later changing his name to Alpha.
I kept waiting for her to marry Lois Lane.
Batman should also fall in love with Lois Lane, and compete for her with Superman, only for her to end up marrying Ivy. Classic DC!
And Superman has to be the best man or it doesn't count
Lol, Lois could report on all of her eco-terrorism.
What about this ? Louis lane marries power girl.
@@Uthardar If you take into account that Power Girl is an AU version of Supergirl, then technically they already did get together in the DC Bombshells comic run :)
As much as I like the Harley/Ivy pairing, I feel like the characters themselves lose a lot of potential with how their entire personalities change. Like, I want them to be together and happy, except that when they are, they kind of stop being a hero or a villain and just want to be left alone.
Peak Ivy for me is pretty similar to Magneto. When she has a singular vision for what needs to happen in the world and is willing to do anything for it to happen, but as long as you aren't interfering with that, she's willing to help out an acquaintance in any way she can.
If they do another Harley Quinn movie (Not Suicide Squad 2) like a sequal to B irdds ofPrey let's hope they have an ivy character.
Personally, I'd prefer that Harley and Ivy split all together, not being homophobic, I'd just prefer Ivy to be here own character as opposed to Harley's girlfriend. Even that comic she had with Harley was HARLEY QUINN AND Poison Ivy. Idk just my thoughts
She is probably one of my favorite villains 🍃
Antivillain
It feels like DC doesn't know what to do with the character, especially since connecting her to the green. She is a global threat, but is not really written that way consistently. The name change is not appealing IMO as it does not set her up to be anything greater than she already was. For the present, I would prefer if they kept her in the background until they are done with the currently spotlight on Joker/Punchline. Then perhaps find a way to bring her into the forefront and show here true power and abilities, while making her arc something that is relatable and almost sympathetic. Climate change is a really hot issue (pun intended), and they are really missing out on using this character to resonate with a message that may very well attract new readers, if DC is even looking to do that.
Fun bit of trivia: The Coasters’ song “Poison Ivy” that Sasha mentions in the video was covered by Meshell Ndegeocello for the Batman & Robin soundtrack.
"Let me know how you like your ivy down below..." Now manscaping has gone too far.
I appreciate Anti Hero Ivy more but I hope DC does her justice now as "Queen Ivy"
I agree
Oh no
She's gone super ivy 4
Queen Ivy is a pleasantly welcome change.
Also, she needs to be fleshed out more as an individual character. Jeez, she’s been around waaaaaaayyyyy longer than Harley Quinn.
Also, I’m fed up with Ivy always being in a relationship with Harley. That needs to change big time.
Yeah, I'd like it if she wasn't constantly viewed as a side piece. You could do a lot with the character, and lately DC just...hasn't really.
Hawk Talon exactly. Same goes for the many other under utilized heroes of DC. There are sooooo many that are being thrown under the bus.
But, yes. I hope they keep Ivy as a supervillain, as she used to be for so long.
@Beta batman and harley will never happen
@Beta as a joke
@Beta and with evil batman
I really hope they don’t keep the Bathrobe...
They better not...

I can take the whole Ivy x Harley relationship or leave it alone. For me personally though, I would find it to be more interesting storytelling if she found someone that could take on a fauna role to compliment her flora angle. Despite the whole "I speak for the trees!" single mindedness The Green wants from her, plants need animals as much as animals need plants. So for me, someone like Cheetah would be more compelling. Or maybe having some male with the animalistic schtick in the role of teammate/ love interest just to give it a more opposites attract vibe.
Even though her name is Ivy, she makes use of any viable plant, so the potential romantic interest could also represent many animals. Cheetah has potential, though tends to stick to her specific themed animal (same with Batman, Catwoman, Hawkman/Hawkgirl, etc.) Animal Man could be that type of compliment. Then there is Beast Boy (adult version for... reasons). A reformed, less villainess Ivy with a rebound Beast Boy might be interesting. There is also the existing dynamic with Man Thing. As long as its well written and interesting, I don't particularly care who might be with her.
So Ivy x Animal Man?
Squirrel girl lmao
Kiteman.
@@jordkells ivy already teamed up with animal man for a lengthy amount of time during the Red vs Green type of thing. But, also, she sorta has that in her friendship with Catwoman. For the times when they depict Catwoman as a brazen environmentalist fighting for the animals and to protect their habitats.
This is good. I'm a Villian over heros type of person. Maybe Ivy will get a big event around her.
Edit: I wish her costume was...MORE. It does look like a bath robe.
Agree on the costume completely. It should be more plants and leaves, less yellow shower curtain.
@@ryanhanton6205 Yes exactly.
I like my ivy poisonous....... Dear God that was a bad joke
the invasive species choking other plant-life bit could be used to reflect her growing power within The Green, maybe they give her a huge power boost and make her a JLA level threat, for a while? I can't say I'd see that sticking for a long time, but as an important, albeit oft overlooked, part of the Gotham rogues gallery, it'd be nice to see here have a few moments to wow people.
0:29 I really thought this is Jean Grey before I focused on the picture a little bit more
'Drake' what were they thinking?
Still not as bad as Ric. 🙄
they were high when they came up with it
That they wanted to call him a duck? Might as well call him Mallard. lol.
you can hear the coasters song in Batman and Robin in her weird gorilla jungle fundraiser reveal scene
My mom use to have those plants. I believe she watered them every other day lol. I can't get enough of the Ivy Harley Ship. Ever since the Animated series
Same! I loved/hated the slow burn of their relationship in the cartoon but the payoff was worth it :)
@@amandak.5967 Agreed.
@Beta Thats ok too. We don't all have to agree ^_^
@Beta Id have to read more comics to have a better idea about Batman X Harley and I can totally see Ivy being a solo act. I haven't seen the new show where can you watch it?
I really hope she gets a better outfit to go with the name, cause im not getting queen vibes from that outfit. I'm getting "I got really wasted on wine and this bathrobe makes me a queen" vibes
She wanted to feel comfy
I'm surprised you can reference a half Joker half Batman face without referencing Prince's Bat-Dance music video from the Tim Burton Batman movie. Which Sasha, if you have never seen it, track it down. It is a lot of a lot.
Heh! Eric Cartman on Maury Povich.
"Whatevah! I do what I WANT!"
The robe isn't working. Looks like she picked a bathrobe off a drunk guy on St. Patrick's day with that Clover print
I have a marble queen and a goldilocks (aka neon pothos). I am here for all the houseplant themed comic characters. Give me a monstera, false Aralia, a maiden hair, a Peruvian old man cactus. Yasss
"Should she be taking notes?" 🤣🤣🤣
I know I'm coming at this three years later, but it is fun to see the ups and downs of Harley's and Ivy's relationship.
Like, from my point of view, them having a completely unstable relationship kinda means they're meant to be together. At least in a comic book context, cause just think about how unstable the relation between Clark and Lois was.
That name won't stay for long.
The same way in The New 52 Superman did not wear red trunks and Shazam got new powers from new gods.
Golden pothos is best watered about once a week, but the best tell is sticking your finger in the soil. Once the soil is bone dry, give the plant a THOROUGH watering and allow the excess to completely drain :)
Queen Ivy have a huge potential and can be the next big Batman villain. Exploring the relation of Love /Hate with Harley after the Jolker war, would give a whole new proportion to the feud.
I do have one of those plants and they are tough as all hell. Water every other week.
I enjoy Harley and Ivys realtionship it's very interesting to see!
Personally, I think Pamela Lillian Isley should be written into 2 characters. The "tree hugger" version and the clone her plants created.
Originally, Pamela only commanded plants (which she recreated) and the plants would just do anything for her out of there own free will. However, she was eventually written to control plants and the plants wouldn't actually have free will. So I think I'd be fun to have Poison Ivy [white human Pamela] fighting Queen Ivy [Green Plant Pamela] in reguards to how they use plants for there own selfish reasons. Pamela Lillian Isley can most definitely be her own character, not even needing any other character.
Reguarding Harleen Quinzel on the other hand... I do believe she is actually already writen as 2 characters, though we haven't really got the chance to know much about the original Harly Quinn that Harleen Quinzel pretends to be. Whith that said, she is a character that can only exist in continuity with the Joker. Harleen Quinzel can not be her own characters. Despite not needing Pamela, Batman, or most other characters, she can not exist without the Joker. Especially after naming herself after Joker's ex wife and dressing up like her. Though it would be fun to finally see Harlleen Quinzel vs Hary Quinn. The closest we ever got was Harlleen Quinzel vs Neo Joker. And Punchline is basically just copium in Harlleen's absence as Joker's Girlfriend.
With brings me to 3 other characters.
Joker's "daughter", Joker's first "Robin", and Punchline.
While Harlleen is basically Joker's second Robin, Punchline herself can still be her own stand alone character.
Joker's "daughter" though, could definitely use some straightening up, as her continuity at the moment tends to come all over the place. For that reason alone, I think she could still be good as a stand alone character... though I'd probably be difficult.
But she'd probably need to be more of a Cort Of Owls type of character.
I really like the idea that Harley represents the manic extremes of humanity, and Ivy represents the extremes of being detached from humanity. I always wanted to see a writer portray the two balancing each other out, Ivy grounding Harley and letting her good flourish, plant pun references intended, and Harley bringing the fun and joy to Ivy that let's her reconnect to her own humanity. I always thought the combination of the two could be incredibly poignant and meaningful if handled correctly, and even more fun if done through the same lens as we got with James Gunn's recent The Suicide Squad. Though, I'd also settle for a take by Stjepan Sejic.
I would love to see some writer actually use these plant characters in a good way. Maybe send Ivy, Swamp Thing and Jason Woodrue to the Amazon to fight deforestation. Or to Africa to work on transforming the desert in useable land. Both problems the JLA refuses to get into. Or hey she's making a garden in the middle of Gotham, why not make some plants that have actual botanical cures for people? I hate seeing characters under utilized when there is SO freaking much potential that they can do and accomplish.
Ivy despises most humans. The few humans that she doesn't hate are Harley, Selina & Batman. Maybe you can count in other Batman's rouges as well (except the Joker) since she collaborates with them on certain occasions.
We need more Ivy and kiteman
Ivy is literally my FAVORITE DC character!
John Francis Moore writes Ivy best. Really gets the balance right between villain - eco-warrior - damaged individual. Having said that, Neil Gaiman wrote a really good Ivy story once, I think as part of Suicide Squad..? Not sure if I've got the details right there, but I remember it being brilliant!
Love that she kept an ages-old bathrobe.
Nailed the Ivy voice! * chef kiss
I love your channel so much!
Interesting and thorough as always. Thank you.
i hope Queen Ivy lives longer then my houseplants (i have a cat who thinks it's her job to kill everything, i call her Princess Murder Toes)
Poison Ivy used to be one of my favorite villains
And then they made her an anti-hero and put her in a relationship.
I I wanted slice of life crap, I'd go out and live.
Loved your ivy voice lmao
i like evil Ivy.
they need to stop these thing of making Batman female villains good =/
Most of his female villains are not "good" there anti-heroes
@@dcmarvelcomicfans9458 harley was going to join the justice league...
More people are concerned about the environment than the lives of millionaire oil tycoons. It's hard not to let Ivy slip into the realm of anti-hero at worse.
@@kinginthenorth1437 Her villainy is not pure villainy i'd argue. She doesn't always go after innocent people but the elites as well. Its about the ratio of reasonable killings vs evil killings for her character. I think its more interesting to have a character that always not kill the elites but the innocents as well. Corrupted morals but sympathetic cause.
I love poison ivy she is so amazing she is one of my favorite super villains 😁
0:52 the shade lmao 😂
I Do love Ivy, in all her iterations. I loved her and Harley together, and I Loved them when they were just friends. It is my hope they at least go back to being Bros. I hope they keep her on the anti hero Treck, maybe even turn her around like they did Harley. the Shamrock robe, is kind of Kitchy, but I think it's fun because she's implying she is Irish, with Red hair. Green and Shamrocks a St Patrick's day thing. I get what she is saying to this girl, and I can not be the only one, where friendships went sour, but you still miss that person sometimes, and you see them occasionally in strangers. I Like the nod, to the fact that this could have been Harley, that she is blonde and pretty and wrecking Red's house, for the Clown Prince of Crime. I think she even uses her to make the throne, or that's kind of what it looks like, and that hits me in a whole other set of my feels. I am excited to see where they take this.
That floral top is a great tie in to the subject - and it looks amazing on you ❤️
Nice video Sasha. I liked it. And I think Poison Ivy's robe could be different. As in red or green. That would be nice.
Love your channel. Best comic channel in my opinion. I think I have figured out your wigs, hair color by the way.
And since you asked, I have had a Devil's Ivy houseplant for over 35 years. Her name is Matilda. And she would love it if I watered her every day. She's lucky if she gets it once a week.
I agree with you on the robe. It just looks like a normal bath robe to me.
no, you don't need to water it daily. It's a popular houseplant because it's so hard to kill. just plop it near a window and make sure the soil is moist every week or two and your good! great houseplant for college students and busy professionals.
oh wow really laying it on thick with the biblical references: Garden of eden, Christ pose and a LITTERAL CROWN OF THORNS!
I'd be more interested in the name change if they tied it into her connection with The Green, Swamp Thing has referred to her as the "May Queen" before and when he did so it seemed like there was some real significance to the title that was only being hinted at the time. The powers that control the DC elemental forces are referred to as "parliaments" but I would actually like to see more of the politics behind what these Hive minds do to make their decisions.
To me it would be really interesting if the May Queen was like a house of Lords to the Swamp Things house of Commons. There's also the fact that the title May Queen has real historical connections to European folklore that I would love to be explored more in the comics.
I love the whole getting in the foundations thing because ivy really goes into the foundations and cracks and in to the smallest opening's.
Fun video Sasha thank you!
Ivy needs to meet her destiny, his name is Groot, and she will teach him to talk!.....so to speak.
I look forward to new Ivy but I'm full on Harlivy and still a bit bitter how the whole break up was handled
Sasha's Ivy voice is so relaxing, it lowered my blood pressure.
I spent weeks help someone remove ivy from a house and repairing the damage it had done, we had a name for it but not one for use in polite company
I enjoy a few things about this channel let me list them
1. Love the focus on obscure, fringe and underutilized characters. Tired of hearing how everything is about or compared to the MCU.
2. Love you robust vocabulary. I feel like as a comic reader we naturally come across esoteric words. I learned the word hubris, intered, impertinent from Apocalypse.
3. The consistency of the videos gives me something to look forward to each day..
4. More of comments now. I found the channel because I followed Sasha from Top 10 Nerd.
5. Is your thumb ok. I've seen the band-aid on that left thumb a number of times.
6. Love all the colors.
I hope they will give her a strong telepathic resistance, she might not be a telepath but she should be telepathic resistance character, maybe she able to formulate her own anti telepath antidote, as she has able to formulate toxin and poison immune
Gotta say Sasha, you doing these videos has been making the pandemic and everything easier to bear. Thank you!
House plant. We had one for decades and my mom spread cuttings everywhere cause people would always ask for them.
Poison Ivy is so complicated. Her switch between villain and anti-hero happens so often it's dizzying. It's like pick a side already.
I honestly want her own solo issue, she has a lot of potential 🌱
She’s hands down my fave villain
hey, we used to have a jar with this plant above your fridge back when I was a child! here it is known as 'nobody can with me'! today I learned why my grandmother always said I couldn't eat this! 😅
Don't water daily!! It'll suffer from Root rot. But it's pretty amazing to see all throughout Florida climbing the trees.
Not gonna lie, I liked the monologue. I probably wouldn't have liked it if it didn't have the 'Eden' 'Hell' metaphor running through it but having that made it fun. Didn't really need the captive though and the parallel being made with Harley; you're right that it's a bit of a reach.
I loved how sasha was like my husband walked by and thought she was a geisha.
You should read the arkham series comics
I love how you dress to the theme of your videos!
I like poison ivy as a unique character, with her own unique personality. I like the idea of her with harley Quinn. Also, is it a coincidence that you have on a flower dress, or was that planned? Either way, well done! And you have your Harley Quinn hair. Also, well done! I really liked your poison ivy voice too! Thank you for another wonderful vid!
I know for a fact swamp thing is pissed about all the simps coming for his plant sister
We need a Poison Ivy update!!
My favorite Poison Ivy story was in...

Would love a review of that storyline!
Wow great poison ivy impression!!👏👏👏
Just watched gotham by gaslight she was kinda screwed
Spoilers i guess
I was like cool ivy is in it then i was like oh she dead
What's worse is that Ivy, a character whose appeal is that she's strong on her own, was a stripper.
None of the women were done right in the film :( all killed brutally, enslaved/abused by a man, even Catwoman at the end was damselled despite her badassery.
(I did love seeing the 3 Robins together though- and they didn't look like Bruce clones yay!)

Ivy looks beautiful in this art style 💚
remember when Ivy and Two-Face had a thing in the animated series?
I really hope they can give ivy a more integral role, shes been such a side character for so long and she has so much potential if done properly. I really do think she's one of the absolute best batman villains. Though I don't want her to go full evil, shes way better as a sympathetic villain. Imo
Here in Brazil this plant has the popular name of Jibóia which is the brazilian name of the boa constrictor snake.

I'm more into villainous Ivy myself. She's spent too long in the antihero camp for me. And I would love have an Ivy conversation without Harley. Though I know the pairing means a lot to some fans. I'm glad they have a version for them.
