Il suono e lo stile possono piacere o meno, ognuno ha il proprio.. la cosa che mi sconcerta è che il video è stato tagliato/sfumato proprio sull'assolo finale, che senso ha?!?
Più che un assolo finale è venuto fuori un ass hole per il cantante

Phil you are a truly great guitarist, really nice claw hammer picking but the tone is all wrong. For instance it needs a Vox AC 30 treble boost amp and a single delay echo with strat set on Bridge pickup for a sharper tone plus a little bit of tech magic stuff. You could give Mark a genuine run for his money with the right tones. This song is all about the guitar. Also the band should put a bit more life into the performance. Make it rougher and sharper. But the guitar work was hidden under the too soft tone. This is a rock song not a gentle ballad drummer needs a lot more punch too. I could sort your tones out Phil, have to be honest. A change in the production could have transformed the performance to a CZcams masterpiece with millions of hits.
You're joking right? An AC30 and bridge pickup? Single delay echo? And did it occur to you he's trying to not imitate MK's tone?
@@benjaminluscombe7199 as far as I am aware Mark does not use a single echo delay and AC30 but that effect and amp or Amp Simulator does make the overall rocking sound of the guitar better that is what I use. I am not sure it is easy to beat the definitive version but that combination would help. Mark used a wedged in-between pickup setting too and not the Bridge position so it would sound sharper, different and more 'Rocky' played on the bridge position pickup. More inline with the Hank Marvin sound. As you know Hank Marvin is key to understanding tone and melodic technique in Stratocaster guitars hence why Mark, Brian May, Tony Iommi, David Gilmour, And even Jimi Hendrix owe their tone and techniques to Hank Marvin and the Famous red Stratocaster. And why Mark has often been seen with a red strat too and David Gilmour and I bet Brian May has one at home too!! as do all Hank Marvin fans. And as you know Hank Marvin toured with Mark in the 1980s. Any electric guitarist who has not heard of Hank Marvin does not know the history of the Stratocaster. And Hank Marvin signature custom shop Stratocasters can be bought cheaply at the moment due to the ignorance of modern guitarists. The signature strats are easier to play and stay in tune better than the standard strat.

Superbo Phil Palmer che ho visto recentemente in tour con Pete Townshend. Peccato che il pezzo sia assassinato dalla disastrosa performance vocale di Mark Hanna (cosa avrà avuto poi da ridere non si sa). Braccia rubate all'agricoltura.
Trovo del tutto ingiusto che uno si arroghi il diritto di suonare brani come questo,solo perchè per un breve periodo ha fatto parte dei Dire Straits. Tra l'altro quando fu composta Sultans of swing,Phil Palmer neanche c'era. Per me esiste solo Mark Knopfler.
Ma che ragionamento è? Non è sua quindi non la può suonare? Allora una qualsiasi cover band dovrebbe essere denunciata per oltraggio all'artista... Ma dai...
@@a.c.9724 Terminal of tribute to,è un brano dedicato a chi si fa grande grazie ai meriti altrui. Le cover dovrebbero essere più generiche. "The Straits" , "Dire Straits Legend" , "Dire Straits Legacy" ecc sanno un po di plagio,no? E se la legge lo consente,chi ama gli artisti dovrebbe tenerne di conto. Io li considero mezze cartucce incapaci di trasmettere emozioni proprie. Come si fa ad applaudirli durante un loro concerto?
Gli artisti che fanno cover a questi livelli pagano a caro prezzo la siae ed il copyright d'autore, e ti assicuro che non è come comrpaee il dischetto da 5 euro in saldo su amazon. E inoltre non stai parlando di un cazzone, phil palmer potrebbe essere benissimo uno dei migliori turnisti al mondo, e ha piazzato un assolo che è considerato uno dei più belli di sempre nel pop.
Ti consiglio qualche ascolto di chi stai parlando, prima di parlarne.

Good player generally speaking but not for solos imo. Rather to keep the rhythm. I have heard much better tributes or covers than this one
