The Rings of Power: An Epic FAILURE | Amazon DESTROYS Tolkien and It Gets WORSE

  • The Rings of Power's worst episode yet. Amazon has been caught deleting reviews for this abomination, AGAIN! They should just delete the show! it's an embarrassment. Bad cosplay mixed with fan fiction written by an algorithm. The worst lead character in living memory, major players from the Tolkien's 2nd Age as c-list morons. Bad acting, shots, fight choreography, and editing. At this point I'm not sure who is worse, Elves or Harfoots. The worst crime of all? It's boring. A show that started on the bottom still managed to go downhill.
The best bit, 'The Superfans' aren't watching the show!

Like so many women call themselves "actors" instead of actresses now, like acknowledging their sex in their job title is somehow bad. They want so bad to be seen as exactly the same as the sex they do nothing but shit on that they are becoming the very thing they claim to hate so much.

It began with the forging of the great films. Threads were given by Tolkien, immortal, wisest and fairest of all beings. Rights were granted to Jackson, great miner and craftsman of the mountain of lore. And nine, nine hours were gifted to the race of men, who above all else, desire quality. But they were all of them deceived, for another show was made. In the land of Amazon, in the fires of Mount Prime, the Dark Lord Bezos forged in secret a master flop. And into this show he poured his money, his greed and his will to dominate all film. One show to ruin them all.

Don't forget him blocking the arrow wasn't planned. In ROP you can tell that they had to make it a "safe," environment for the actress. In reality, the fight choreography is performed slowly and then sped up. Hence the editing choices. If they had cast the actress properly, they could take more risks and she'd be down to doing more hard-core feats, which are typically reserved for men. Making a female character strong by making all the men around them apparently weaker is the main reason why this girl boss sh!t comes across so foul.

I just can't imagine Amazon Showrunners treated Numenoreans like some bunch of ordinary men who aren't capable to fight. Tolkien wrote that, they are more than your average/normal men. Numenoreans are descendants of the Edain of the First age ,the most noble race of Men in the first age), who were granted a gift of island of Numenor by the Valar.
Even in the books. Numenoreans were able to crush and inflict a devastating defeat on Sauron's and his forces, turning the tide of the War of the Elves and
Sauron. They are described as strong in both body and mind ( they are tall on average around 7ft tall, Elendil himself described as nearly 8ft tal.

He was such a noble and honest man in the books, finding Sauron and warning everyone, then building an army to defeat Sauron, and in the end sacrificing himself to the good of the realm for his spirit to never be seen again in Mordor.

Probably one of the most lore breaking scene to Tolkien beloved works - though the visual of it looks nice, too bad is a non canon.
the Silmarils and Mithril scene :
AMAZON VERSION ( completely made up lore which has nothing to do with Tolkien whatsoever):
an odd and obsucre legend of an Elf and a Balrog fighting over a tree containing one of the Silmarils. The event leads to a lightning strike that turns the roots of the tree into light-infused mithril - a single vein of which runs down into the mountain. The story is a bit odd, as is the need for the Elves to literally soak in the light of the Valar to avoid fading.
    TOLKIEN VERSION:
The Silmarils were created by Fëanor in Valinor. The gems/jewels were crafted of the hard crystalline substance silima, which Fëanor had devised, as their shell, and were named after it. In their heart burned some of the Light of Valinor from the Two Trees. Their exact nature and the manner of making the Silmarils were known only to Fëanor, and none other succeeded in making gems of comparable greatness and beauty. There are 3 silmarils. all of them were stolen by Morgoth but later on, one of them ended up in the hands of Eärendil; it was its light that guided him through the Shadowy Seas and he found his way to Valinor. The Valar then set this Silmaril as a star in the sky, bound on Eärendil's brow as he sailed through the sky. The other two gems remained in Morgoth's hands, and were taken from him only at the end of the War of Wrath. However, soon afterwards, they were stolen by Fëanor's two surviving sons Maedhros and Maglor. But because of their crimes in order to reclaim the jewels, they were unworthy of them, and the jewels burned their hands, in refusal of their rights of possession. In agony, Maedhros threw himself and his Silmaril into a fiery pit, and Maglor threw his into the ocean.
With Mithril, it is just a precious, silvery metal, very lightweight but immensely strong. Amazon somehow, tried to link it with the Silmarils. It doesnt come from an epic fight between elf vs balrog that somehow fuses goodness and evil into a light infused metal. The story that was told in ROP is just made up story that Tolkien never wrote. The show is just a boring parody, and its already more than half way through of season 1. Such a waste of billion dollars all for this to flop.

@@stromstans Training with wooden swords does make sense, and was used historically. In europe wooden wasters were a thing, and japan has their oak bokken. Swords are not that heavy, and oak swords are a lot thicker, while they are still lighter then steel swords, it's not as much as you might expect. The weight of the pommel make most swords very well balanced, and they are really not front heavy. A wooden sword is good enough for most training.
Dull training swords like a federschwert do exist, they can be used to practice positions, and for some very careful sparring, or serious sparring in full plate armor, bot not for serious, barely armored sparring. In the show the swords are clearly sharp though. And that's just a recipe for disaster. Even a master swordsmen cannot predict the future movement of their opponent, and sooner rather then later someone will be hit, regardless of skill level.

Morgoth would take Elves captive and cause so much distress and despair that they slowly became something other than Elves and through this process they lost their identities and became Orcs. I realized today that the CW Channel / Batwoman level of dialog and writing we seen in Rings of Power was totally predictable back in 2003 when the Return of The King movie was released. Compare and contrast two scenes and associated speeches:
First, Theoden before the charge on the Pelennor Fields. There is some liberty taken with timing, but Theoden's words in his brief speech to the Rohirrim are lifted from Tolkien's writing directly. It is brief, but truly heroic sounding:
Next, contrast it with Aragorn's speech before the Black Gate.
In the book, there was no speech by Aragorn. This means the movie writers had to write something themselves for the character to say. Aragorn's speech, while not exactly cringe, is obviously the work of people who were tasked with writing something that sounded 'inspiring'. The result is a monologue that sounds like the writing of people who think that's what someone would say to inspire soldiers, rather than something that IS actually inspirational. It was probably written by committee and voted on, and it sounds like something that would be written as such.
Now image an entire TV series written by such people, without any real source material to draw on, who didn't even like the source material to begin with, and who are really tasked with making a relabeled Game of Thrones knockoff. The results are before you now on Amazon. Totally predictable.

Yeah, dropping 2022 into a quasi-medieval setting makes so much sense. Legolas is searching the internet for a good deal on a new bow, Theoden can't afford gas prices so has gone back to horses, the Rings of Power will be made using wind power not fire, and Galadriel will be on Dancing with the Stars next week. Yeah, it's definitely the novel that Tolkien didn't write.

This was an example of the hubris of the writers thinking that they have created a Super Galdrrrrrriel and that everyone will be wowed by her words ....and then none of them bothers to even research at least a decent sword move....nope ..we get....and wait for it....because this shit is pretty fucking advanced..........you stab them...........Fuck me!!!!
