@Sticky Glizzy(Mexican Here, speaking in English for mutual comprehension.) The RUMOR that the US blocked Mexico from acquiring fighter jets its FALSE. And has been propagated by several fake news, so called “military knowledge channel.” In the case of fighter craft coming from Russia, Mexico has been looking for the past decades and to this day, for a viable option for the purchase a new a modern fleet of fighter jets from several nations, this to be achieved by 2024. However, what really happened is that, the MiG-35 was in the table of discussion, but as many other options, so far it was rolled out by out government (And NOT a foreign power) as a non-viable option for the Mexican Air Force. Due to the complexity of operating it in comparison to the tasks it could fulfill, its result was determined unsatisfactory by the SEDENA.
@Sticky Glizzy The US also DID NOT denied the purchase of more fighter aircraft in the 80s. Again, this decision was of our own. In the beginning, we were not even interested in any sort of fancy modern military technology that much, mainly because of the costs of maintaining it. But with many other nations ramping up their national security in the 20th century and the discovery of new oil fields, we decided to step up our defense. We planned on getting more fighter craft, but the costs quickly overran the original plans, as it was not only the costs of the F-5 aircraft themselves but modernization in our airbases, purchase of new technologies, pilot training, etcetera. Which essentially was a huge step into a modern Mexican military, but it came literally, at a great cost. What it is true is that, under licensing terms, and also, due to the lack of infrastructure in our country for these types of projects, we cannot modernize our F-5E/Fs. The only thing were the US is involved here is that, any nation that offers us to modernize these aircraft, has to deal with the license enforced by the US, as the Northrop F-5 is their product, not really because they don’t want Mexico to arm itself, but rather that they are essentially modifying a patented product.
@Sticky Glizzy Yeah, its a little difficult, since we don’t wanna repeat what was essentially a huge mistake with the F-5s. Which is the inability to properly operate modern military equipment. For our next fighter platform we are looking for something we can operate with full confidence, for example, we cannot even repair the engines of our F-5s here because we simply don’t have the technology to do so. That’s why it’s taking so long, because this is gonna be the next huge step and a massive purchase for the future defense of our nation.
Hope to see the Mexican Navy grow with the a steady production of more of these state of the art ships. Then sell to South American countries for their navies...one day.

Hellblazer it has everything except the VLS. The OPV name was brought just so the Mexican Congress could agree to spend the money on this frigate
Hellblazer Congress makes the budget every year to the army navy health sector public services etc etc. Mexican Congress dont like spending money on big projects on the arm forces because “ they don’t have enemies therefore they don’t need frigates aircraft carrier or fighting jets etc” I know it sounds stupid but that’s there reason. Mexico for been a big country they only spent .5 of there GDP when they should spend at least 1 or 2%. That’s the reason they called it POLA so the Congress could approve the budget for the frigate.

Son fragatas con un armamento superior.
la pola tiene un armamento muy limitado ademas de ser muy pequeña y liviana apenas supera las 2.500 tonaladas. Incluso en cuanto armamento corbetas como las de colombia que son diseños de 1985 estan mejor paradas.
Yo ala pola la clasificaria como corbeta, en esa clasificacion si es un buque muy bueno y excelente, con un peso y armamento ideal.

@@erick2807 en los astilleros chilenos se tienen todas las capacidades para construir fragatas, en estos momentos se está construyendo un rompehielos para la armada de Chile, y se han construido variada gama de embarcaciones tales como buques de transporte, desembarco anfibio, y patrulleros de zona marítima como lo son los OPV, pero lamentablemente no se han podido construir las ancianas fragatas, hubo un proyecto a principios de la década pasada de construirlas pero se optó por el gobierno y la armada por comprar buques usados debido los buques de la flota se debían cambiar cuanto antes por su obsolescencia y construir era sería mucho tiempo, pero bueno ahora existe después del termino del rompehielos un proyecto de construcción sostenida de buques para la armada donde destacan transportes, LPD para terminar construyendo las fragatas de la flota a medida que se vayan dando de baja las actuales y se estén reemplazando por una completamente nueva construida en Chile
@@moctgaya hay un plan de construcción naval, en marcha, se está construyendo un rompe hielos, las type 23 en modernización, acá pronto se dará paso a la construcción naval de fragatas sobre las 5 mil toneladas, que es lo único que no se ha construido, porque si se construyen otros buques para otros países. Los buques se arman desde 0 acá en Chile, todos los módulos.
@@erick2807 se construyen buques auxiliares, patrulleros de zona marítima, se construyen otros buques de estas características para otros países como Islandia (thor), y rompehielos, todo desde 0, también se modernizan submarinos, Ecuador ya pagó años atrás un contrato de modernización por 120 millones de dólares, entre otras cosas... también se modernizan profundamente las fragatas y también se desarrollan sistemas de mando, control, y sistemas electrónicos para buques y submarinos..y ya está pensado y está planificado que en 2030 comienza la construcción de fragatas sobre las 5 mil toneladas, todo hecho en Chile.

@@marvincarrillo5805 los cañones de 56 son buenos en contra de navíos o buques pequeños al igual que aeronaves, pero una ves la computadoras y los sistemas de defensa de los misiles falla sólo te quedan un cañón y el cañón de este navío son es fuerte contra otros buques de combate de su claro o mayor, al igual que so rango es corto en comparación, no digo que el navío requiera cañones más grandes nomas por que si, si no por que es necesario; si no crees lo que digo busca vídeo del cañón de 56 contra buques de guerra y verás el por que de mi comentario, a diferencia de tu respuesta el mío fue escrito con bases y no por que se me hincho un webo, saludos.

So nice! Just for you to know, the ship got its name changed some days ago, from "Reformador" to "Benito Juarez", to honor a famous Mexican President from the XIX century. The change was ordered by the current Mexican president, Andres Manual Lopez Obrador, who happens to be a huge fan of Benito Juarez. Also, the current president ordered the name change because he hates the previous president, Enrique Penia Nieto, who is referenced by the name "Reformador", as he impulsed a lot of legal reformations in the country in the first years of his presidential tenure...

Que gusto y orgullo da ver algo bien echo espero pronto la terminen de armar “misiles”helicópteros etc sin mencionar a sus hermanas!se necesita presencia de Mexico en sus mares y reclamar lo que es de nuestro país,en su totalidad.

That's because it's not just a patrol vessel is like a "light frigate" she has some pretty good missiles like the harpoon block II and the mexican navy wants some ESSM too plus the mk56(not sure about the name) light torpedoes launcher (already installed) and the anti submarine helicopter Nfh-90
