Today...the influencers present to us how they communicate. It's a really rare occasion that we get to see them at their natural habitat.
I think Ul'dah in particular is where people have problems with the map. Starting in Gridania was easy street for getting around and Limsa wasn't too confusing either. Ul'dah just has a really weird upper level and airship area.
that is probably true i started in uldah and had not alot of problems with it and in my opinion when you start to understand the little town aethers uldah becomes the easiest city to navigate because you never have to walk there is always a teleporter x)
@@ChaoZzBladex when i first started it took me 3 hours to figure out where the airship is at ul'dah.
They are changing the way the map UI works at the athernet shards for Endwalker, so it will bring up a minimap in the menu and tell you which aethernet to travel where quests are.
i never had issues with uldah. but with Limsa, which is were I started -- it was terrible, because they have an upper and lower deck stacked on top of each other, and a lot of times, the map would show stuff that was on a different level than you. :C and the dock area? ugh. I still hate Limsa.

Edit: yeah tbh, ARR story was not that bad but it was really cliche to me. i only got through it because i couldn't get over about this certain event and i just had to kill that white-armored female garlean. after that, it's smooth sailing.

When I joined to play FF was a nightmare go through limsa , I didn't understand the upper and lower decks , now I think is funny but really I couldn't understand how to go through both parts of the map.

yeah few ago i started, i chose the giant race and was spawned on limsa, that was annoying to have my map open all the time. then I crated a new character to try some more race and created a elezen aqrcher so I sapwned on gridana and that map is pretty flat so its easier to navigate

I haven't played FF7 but I loved Advent Children. The CGI was mind blowing to me at the time.
Mindless Nomura fun, AC is good. But the "story" should have ended with the OG.
Some of that beef seems to come from the movie's impact. It was my first taste of final fantasy and while there's a lot to be said about how it changed a lot of the characters for the worse, most of all cloud, it also changed how square makes games. That movie made the devs want to have combat like the final fight in AC. It pushed the series away from turn based combat and I think that was a mistake. Id even dare say that the remake's combat system is slow and unappealing in comparison. Action combat hype is much like open world hype; it consumes everything and uniforms game design because a large mass of players want everything to be their flavor. So some of that beef can be slid back to that movie kicking off the change.
@@Unf0rget what? AC doesn't "change a lot" about the characters, because they doesn't do any character arc except for new characters. Also AC is come out in 2005, first action main FF is 15 from 2016 10 years after AC, and it action because originally 15 supposed to be a 13 spin-off. The problem with AC is that the story is so obviously unnecessary, and its pretty much just a fan-service movie.
AC is not in any way good lmao. But it's great fanservice and it looked awesome. At the very least, i enjoyed it as a child.

I will never understand why Zepla wants this mythic+. Like all my WoW friends in best case would say "it is ok, I guess". Just never heard of a single player that actually is in love with this mode in WoW and I don't feel like bringing it to other games will make it better.
For PvP actually it is quite fun, not really the best one in MMO, but it is still good. Only not duels, 1v1 pvp is bad. The thing that PvPers want is mostly nerf of healing. In competative PvP healers are too OP right now and probably the only realisticly game changer.
The issue with mythic+ is the timer. If they removed that and added dungeons that got increasingly harder etc. With some rewards it would be fine.
Mythic+ just breeds toxicity because as is, if you pull an extra mob by accident the run is over. The scaling difficulty and modifiers are actually really fun and interesting - but the fact that you have that AND such a bad time budget kills it.
GW2s Fractals of the Mists are kinda what inspired mythic+ - only they have a scaling dot you get as the difficulty increases, instead of a timer, meaning you can play around it instead of being constrained by it.
Mythic+ was AMAZING in Legion. And blizzard have - instead of it being an optional gear path like it was - made it mandatory. So instead of a fun side thing, you HAVE to successfully do a +15 a week at least - ideally more. Its just a chore now - as opposed to something you can do with friends
Just to have small scale difficult content since the game doesn't have it right now. The only way you can do difficult content is by getting seven others which isn't always doable. It doesn't even have to give gear or anything, just some collectibles or a faster way of obtaining tomestones. Dungeons in FFXIV are very well designed but they are so incredibly easy, for some people including myself they'd be a lot more fun if they were a bit more difficult.

Yes, Uldah was an awful map for me when I started. There are some rough spots map wise in Darvanian Forelands too. But then again my friends call me "turn around" as I am seldom seen because I am easily lost.
I used to play WoW too but left right after Cataclysm, because it just started feeling more like a health-hazard than fun anymore. Had a small guild and everything, but they eventually all became toxic except one (Because they're my younger sibling by a year and they actually developed some serious depression after an incident before they left a short time before I did). Last thing I did was just kick everyone from the guild and delete EVERYTHING. Spent some years contemplating if I should try again, but I just couldn't. Along comes 2017 while I'm in college and I begin hearing about a game that I had heard about before a long while ago but at the time... Didn't have the best reputation (FFXIV). I just remembered it for how I heard about it being REALLY bad, but my classmates and friends insisted it was way different now. I promised to try it, well I didn't try alone... My Sweetheart (In real life) decided it sounded pretty cool and wanted to join in too. I've played Final Fantasy games before, but was in desperate need for a game like WoW (Basically an MMORPG). I had no hopes or expectations of FFXIV. Cut to now: Me and my Sweetheart are FC leaders, my sibling started playing with us and is starting to recover from the trauma of what WoW did to them (Also part of the FC), even my real niece is playing it now since she can't meet up with us too much due to distance (Also in the FC as of more recently). I main with Bard, because I played Mage and stuff a lot with WoW and wanted to try something I hadn't before in a game like this and so I chose Archer. No regrets honestly, I really genuinely love this game and my character. PvP may be a bit lacking, but it's pretty cool to go 1v1 against members of my FC even if there's only the four of us currently. Also, I haven't run into any toxicity either and I was expecting it because WoW shaped me with the incident in the guild I ran.
I love the story, the characters, the people I've met. Me and my Sweetheart even had a wedding in it and not one, not two, but THREE FC leaders attended and we have this big pact of unity among the four of us. It honestly feels like a second life to us and seeing my niece grow as a Sprout is awesome. I don't think me nor my sibling regret leaving WoW now and we keep finding more things to love about FFXIV each day. Looking forward to Endwalker too. I also recently leveled two Tanks (Dark Knight and Paladin) to level 70 and I used to have severe issues with the thought of anything involving Tanks due to my guild in WoW consisting of absolutely no Tank classes, only Mages. But... When it came to naming the FC, I gave it a name in memory of the buried guild I once ran (The guild was called All Soul and it was because of this joke among the founders, myself included). In memorial to what was once a small guild of Mages in WoW, Ii named the FC: Omnia Anima.
I've met some of those I used to play with back in WoW too, some of them old guildmembers who now do strictly solo stuff in FFXIV. I don't think I'll ever go back to WoW. I have a family and home right here in FFXIV now (Also kinda literally, me and my Sweetheart have a small cottage in the game, for now). And while I did love PvP in WoW, I retired and hung up the robe when I left it. Same as you I found I enjoy very much now, roleplay baby!

"I thought FFXIV would be bad." Based on what? Square's 40 year plus history of making pretty good RPGs? Their experience in telling interesting, if not convoluted, stories? Pioneering amazing movie-like cutscenes and trailers from the 1990's onward? I guessing more likely the bs from some WoW players who probably never even played the game, so one just went along with it. That's easier than actually making the effort and finding out yourself.
Some good reasons might be: 1) 1.0 sucked so didn't want to bother 2) My friends are all on WoW so didn't want to move 3) Game looked to be slower than WoW 4) Don't care about story, just care about raiding and PvP 5) Japanese-style RPGs aren't my thing 6) Don't like FF games in general.
Anyway, don't make the mistake in FFXIV that you did in WoW. Play other games and don't just over-invest in just one game. Go outside, crack a book, etc. Nothing is perfect.
I think many gamers treat their favorite shooter, rpg franchise, or MMO as they would their favorite sports team - blind loyalty. They think there has to be a winner and don't realize they are limiting their options for sources of enjoyment in this life. I try almost every MMO once just to understand what I do and do not enjoy. Limiting yourself to one game is like going to the same restaurant every day, listening to only one song, or eating the same meal all the time.
You are the most chill and wholesome streamer to have come from WoW and not to sound rude, but i would've never expected a PvP Focused streamer would be so nice

When I first started FFXIV one reason I quit was because of the maps (and lack of friends playing it.) Came back a couple years later and the maps were not as confusing and now i'm addicted and been playing for the last 4 years.

I started in Gridania, got to Ul'Dah in the MSQ and stopped playing for 6 months because I couldn't figure out where to go for my quests XD

OMFG!!! I SOOO AGREE WITH YOU!!!! I was sooo confused with the ui!!!!! And I also suck at reading, slow at it, and short attention span too!! So I understand. I came from over like 13 years of wow(started in bc) and stopped playing for around 1 year before shadowlands!! Mostly because I was over the same old same old B.S. that blizzard comes out with!

Ahh yes, Crisis Core was amazing... The story, it left me in tears. And still would if I ever played through it again. Crisis Core and FFX are my favourite stories from the series so far, tho I'm about to reach Heavenward so FFXIV might make the list as well (I mean I already like ARR well enough, so I think it will).

Also, Savix. - As someone who tried FF and got to about level 37, should I try it again? I found the story O.K at best but the combat was a bit of a slog - Does it get better?
A lot of the jobs are not coming into their own at that point. I remember doing Monk around that level and I hated it. You got to get to 50 to get a taste of what the combat is really about.
I suggest doing palace of the dead. You get to experience the future skills you'll get in a much faster pace.
i am not Savix but it does get better , a LOOOOOOOT better , from lvl 50 on rotations , combat , story , everything becomes so much better and never stop getting better and better .

I've been watching a streamer of another game for almost two years now and he'd encountered a streamer recently who actively RPs and that exposure not only got the one I watch to RP himself, but it also got him to dive head-first in to Read Dead Online RP as well.
RP has such a weird "cringe"-stigma to it. People who don't RP, or don't know anything about RP don't seem to understand what it is, or why people do it; just how important that extra layer of depth it can provide not just to the game, but to the community as well.
Agreed. I don't actively RP in game, only because I am terrible at improvisation. But I have a backstory of my WoL in mind while I play, and I feel like the majority of RPers just enjoy crafting stories, building their immersion. 🤔

I haven't played an MMO is years, but yeah the city map was bad. I chose my GC specifically because it was based in Gridania and I could get around easy. I eventually learned to navigate Uldah and Limsa, but I'll never forget being lost trying to get around there

Certainly would fit her pea-brained stupidity. Personally I can't get past her stutter. It's just jarring. She should have spent less time on gaming and longer on trying to learn to speak properly. In her defense I don't like the voices of most westerns but hers is just...yeah. I can't even listen to what she says its that irritating. Final doesnt have enough high end raid content. One/two ultimates an expac is a bit sadge, plus old ultimates get abit stale once the next expac comes out

Map wasnt a problem, mostly because ive played all kinds of games. I also played on controller.
The map problem is because they are chopped maps from 1.0
The 1.0 maps where seamless.
I was constantly lost in map for almost a year. Till Stormblood launched actually. Than it got easier and easier.
I still personally love frontlines in the game. Not sure why, it's obviously not as good as WoW in how it feels (especially the delay of abilities due to animation lock) but it's just a lot of fun to sit back and play.

i actually have fun with the pvp because there ins't alot of cc and more about timing your only cc at the right time and timing damage, now when it comes to 1vs1 healers thats another story but when playing healer i find it more ejoyable not being easily 1vs1 because i know if the enemy team don't work together they get punished, same with tanks. But i get theres a reason why like savix said fps like CoD and fortnite is so popular and thats because you don't have to depend on other player, you can just do you and jump into it solo whenever you want.
In ffxiv i feel like the core is always playing together with friends or making friends like raids, dungeons and trials it goes full circle tank,dps and healers need each other. There isn't much focus on 1vs1 IMO and i have had a blast playing with friends while in discord. NOTE: i only play the content for fun with friends and am not that kind of person that goes super hardcore. Yes i agree that it can be improved upon just don't forget the fun aspect of it, cause cc is fun until someone has more of it or when you yourself gett cced and don't get to play and just get rolled by "new meta combo". more options is awlays nice and improvements is nice. For me the UI is not so hard to understand, the rpg I played the most when I was a kid is ffXII, so the map and UI almost the same in some parts.
